Director's Notes
"And now let’s go hand in hand, not one before another."
(Dromio of Ephesus, Act 5 Scene 1)
Set in the Greek city of Ephesus, The Comedy of Errors tells the story of two sets of identical twins who were accidentally separated at birth. Antipholus of Syracuse and his servant, Dromio of Syracuse, arrive in Ephesus, which turns out to be the home of their twin brothers, Antipholus of Ephesus and his servant, Dromio of Ephesus. When the Syracusans encounter the friends and families of their twins, a series of wild mishaps based on mistaken identities lead to wrongful beatings, a near-seduction, the arrest of Antipholus of Ephesus, and false accusations of infidelity, theft, and madness.
Being a twin myself, I am no stranger to the comedy (and drama) that often surrounds "being a twin." Although my sister Selena and I have not experienced many of the extreme adventures found in Shakespeare's work, the themes and comical nature of the play is still very relevant (and funny) almost 450 years later. One of the most magical things about William Shakespeare's works is how relevant they still are today. This is just one of the many reasons that Shakespeare should be experienced by everyone!
We hope you enjoy tonight's performance!
Thank you for joining us; we are truly honored to have you.
~ Stephanie Naumoff, Director
Meet the Company

This is Carl Wolf's 8th stage production in the last 30 years, three of them coming in the 1980's and three of them in the last year. His time on stage over the last year has reminded him how much fun it is to be involved in community theater. His previous productions include State Fair, A Christmas Carol, Our Town, Once Upon a Mattress, A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum, and The Fantasticks. Carl is the Executive Director of Respond Now in Chicago Heights, a non profit that provides health, hunger, and housing services. He lives in Hammond with his wife, Stephanie Dowell as empty nesters. They have two children, Max and Lilia.

Alexander is pleased to be working with GSC again, having previously played roles in the productions of Macbeth, A Midsummer Night's Dream, Julius Caesar and The Tempest. No stranger to NWI theater, his previous favorite credits include Macduff in both GSC and Chicago Streets' productions of Macbeth, Smee in 4th St Theater's production of Peter and the Star Catcher, Wadsworth in Clue on Stage at Laporte Little Theatre, and of course, Edgar Allan Poe in Nevermore at Holdcraft Players. Shakespeare will always be Alexander's favorite thing to perform. He is so privileged to be working with such amazing people (new and old friends alike) that have made this a wonderful experience to be a part of.

Auriel Lark Felsecker is thrilled to officially be making her GSC debut with Comedy of Errors and so thankful she gets to do it with so many of her talented friends! She was most recently seen on stage last October as Elmira/Player 6 (Nevermore!) at The Holdcraft Players. Although a stranger to the GSC stage, she is no stranger to Shakespeare. A few of her favorite past Shakespearean roles include The Nurse (Romeo & Juliet), Beatrice (Much Ado About Nothing), Trinculo (The Tempest), and Quince (A Midsummer Night’s Dream). Other favorite past roles include Cheryl (Evil Dead The Musical), Logainne (The Putnam County Spelling Bee), Mlynn (Steel Magnolias), and Piglet (A Winnie The Pooh Christmas Tail). She would like to thank her friends, family, and partner for supporting her artistic endeavors (and her insane schedule) and her remarkable castmates and production team for making her return to playing in Shakespeare, after a bit of a hiatus, the most fun experience!

This is Matt’s first and hopefully not last show with Gary Shakespeare. Matt is honored to be playing such a great role… or roles! Matt was last seen as El Gallo in Marian Theatre Guildes productions of The Fantastiks. Matt studied Shakespeare at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts. He has not been in a Shakespeare production for (mumbles) years, what a way to make a come back! GREAT JOB to the cast!!! Thank you Stephanie for everything and for trusting me in such fun roles!

Breanne Knopf is thankful to be performing again with GSC. Her most recent GSC roles have included Cassius (Julius Caesar) and Miranda (The Tempest). She appeared earlier this year as Woman 1 (Vagina Monologues, MOH) and Melissa/Meg/Wendy (Bad Auditions by Bad Actors, 4th Street Theatre). She thanks her GSC family for years of laughter and friendship. She will miss them greatly and hopes they know the significance they’ve held in her life (even the weird ones… Alex). She also thanks Dave for his support in an insane plan to do a show during their move to Indy. None have captured leaving as poetically as Shakespeare did in Winter’s Tale: [EXIT. PURSUED BY A BEAR.].

Ian is thrilled to make his Gary Shakespeare debut with The Comedy Of Errors! This is the first time he’s performing Shakespeare in general. He has done shows at his high school (Munster), Beatniks on Conkey, the Marian Theatre Guild, the gazebo at Main Square Park in Highland, and just recently 4th Street Theatre. Some of those shows include The Little Mermaid (Ensemble Sailor/Chef Louis), Tarzan (Ensemble Ape), Peter and the Starcatcher (Captain Robert Falcon Scott/Ensemble), Done to Death (Man/Monster), Young Frankenstein (Ziggy/Ensemble), Bleacher Bums (Richie), Dilemmas With Dinner (Max), Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (Baker/Ensemble), School Of Rock (Ensemble), and just recently at 4th Street, Bad Auditions By Bad Actors (Taggert/Zeph) along with Alex and Bre. Ian would like to thank his family for all of their never-ending love and support for “being a loudmouth” on the stage. He loves and appreciates them so much! He is also looking forward to doing more productions with Gary Shakespeare in the future. One more thing: stay classy Indiana!

Keith has a theatrical career spanning more than 30 years. He was recently Alphonso in GSC's production of The Tempest, he also portrayed The Soothsayer in GSC’s Julius Caesar and played Pooh-Bah in the Dunes Summer Theatre production of Mikado, but is more often seen in the lighting booth. Keith has designed lights for productions across Northwest Indiana including Evil Dead: The Musical at CST; Jekyll and Hyde at the Dunes; Dracula at Portage Community Theater; and most recently, Clue: The Musical at Memorial Opera House. Keith is thrilled to have been cajoled into joining the cast...again...for the third time.
