Cockpit in Court Summer Theatre is celebrating our 50th Anniversary this year!

Fifty years of Cockpit adds up to more than 120 musicals produced, more than 100 plays, over 35 Court Jesters productions, and 25 classics in the courtyard! (Remember those?) Over fifty years of Cockpit, more than 5,000 of our friends have played roles on these stages, designed sets and lights and costumes, directed and choreographed and played in the orchestra pit. We’ve seen literally a thousand young people find their footing with the Court Jesters, and dozens of them have made their way to the Cabaret or the Mainstage. Cockpit has performed in at least six different venues on campus, and also taken the gift of theatre to Russia and Japan.

In recognition of these phenomenal numbers and the impact Cockpit has had on so many lives, we are asking you, our faithful Cockpit supporters, to make a gift of $50 in honor of our 50th anniversary! It is our mission to present a diverse, well-balanced, quality theatrical season that promotes inclusion, embraces all cultures, experiences, and backgrounds, and fosters creativity among actors, artistic and production staff, the Board of Directors, and the community. Your support helps us keep this mission alive for years to come!

Can we count on your gift?

Whether you were in one of those first audiences for Celebration! or The Importance of Being Earnest, or if you just discovered Cockpit in the twenty-first century, we are thrilled that you are part of our family.

To make your donation you may either call the box office at 443-840-2787, go online to ccbctickets.com  or mail your check to:

CCBC Box Office
7201 Rossville Blvd
Baltimore, MD 21237

Thank you in advance for your support!
Sincerely,

James Hunnicutt, Artistic Director
Lisa Boeren, Administrative Manager
William Watson, Producer

Directors Note

Where did I put my keys? Where is my phone?

I know I’ve met you before, but I can’t remember your name!

An actor is screaming, I can’t remember my lines!!

Where are my glasses? (they are around your neck)

DO you remember when we went to that concert 30 years ago?

These are all easy statements that we say and many more each and every day. It’s a daily part of the human condition, right?  We remember bits and pieces and maybe miss the details, but we remember the basics.

What I love about DOT is that it takes you to the moments when the memories fade. Not only do you forget the place and the moments but at times the people fade and in the end you yourself fade. We all deal with loss but what do you do when you lose bits and pieces of yourself? This piece in its cathartic way will take you on that journey. To a place where loss, discovery, strength, resolve, love and memory intersect and fight to survive.

Enjoy the show and I hope it’s memorable for years to come. What time is it? Time to enjoy Colman Domingo’s DOT.

Meet the Company

Robin Rouse (Dotty)
Robin received her B.A. in Theater Performance with minors in dance and music in 1983. She has performed in music, dance and theater on every level from amateur to professional since the 70s. In the Baltimore area, she has had the pleasure of performing in various theatrical productions; as a featured vocalist in jazz and originals bands; won a prestigious annual jazz vocalist award; and has performed and taught as a belly dancer and as a dance-fitness instructor. Dot marks her return to the theater after more than a decade and she is proud to be working with this cast and with her director/friend Rikki again.
Takira Thompson (Shelly)
Takira makes her Cockpit in Court debut with Dot. She recently appeared in the spring 2022 production of Intimate Apparel as Esther at Dundalk Community Theater. Other stage credits include productions of Intimate Apparel (Esther) and A Raisin in the Sun (Lena) for CCBC Catonsville Academic Theatre and her self-written play entitled Hindering Benefits (Robin). Takira enjoys writing short stories and plays, photography and film production in her free time. Away from the stage, Takira is employed as a Paraeducator with Baltimore County Public Schools. She would like to thank her family and friends for all their support and encouragement. Most importantly thank God for His blessings!
Laura E Weeldreyer (Jackie)
Laura is thrilled to return to live theater after the long pandemic hiatus and grateful to work on this show with such a wonderful cast, crew, and script. Laura has performed locally at Cockpit in Court, Memorial Players, Baltimore Shakespeare Factory, A Work in Progress Company, and Phoenix Festival Theater. By day, Laura runs a statewide non-profit organization and devotes time, energy, and passion to issues of social justice. Laura lives in Baltimore with her husband and three almost-grown children.
Jamal Kitchen Jr (Donnie)
Jamal has come a long way in the acting industry, but to him, personally, his journey has only just begun. Having taken a long hiatus from acting since his last performance in 2019's Vinegar Tom for Spotlighters theater, Jamal has bounced back into the industry with his permanent goal in mind - to be a successful film actor. Jamal is 24-years old and has been acting since Elementary school, landing the role of the Lion and a Doorman in The Wizard of Oz. He is currently on the path to graduating from Morgan State University with a bachelors in Screenwriting & Animation. When he is not performing in film or Broadway, he is also a self-employed voice actor for Fiverr and looks forward to working with anyone interested in his talent. Until his goal is achieved, nothing will ever deter Jamal of persevering into his desired career.

Ted Burke (Adam)
Ted got his start in theatre at the age of 17. Since then, he has been a part of over 100 plays and musicals, in one capacity or another. Cockpit in Court has been a part of his life, off and on, for about 3 decades, and Ted will cherish all those wonderful memories. You may have seen him most recently in And Then There Were None, The Unexpected Guest, The Edge of Darkness, or An Inspector Calls. Ted would like to thank Rikki for the opportunity to be a part of Dot, Caye, for being so supportive of his constantly crazy schedule, and YOU—without whom live theatre wouldn’t be possible. Here’s to another 50 years of Cockpit!!
Randi Seepersad (Averie)
Randi has spent her summer here with Cockpit having performed last month on the mainstage as Asaka, Mother of the Earth in Once On This Island. Thank you for coming to see the show, feel free to reach out, and hope you enjoy!
Brian Dauglash (Fidel)
