Director's Note

"Neil Simon continues to wrangle with the meaning of love and marriage, finding parts of himself and his many wives in the six characters..."  New York City, 2000

Welcome to LaCassette, the setting for The Dinner Party, Neil Simon's 31st play. It's a pleasure to have you dine with us tonight.

I have always enjoyed "Doc" Simon's work and have directed (Brighton Beach Memoirs, Odd Couple - both versions) or acted in (God's Favorite, Biloxi Blues, Sweet Charity) many of his plays/ musicals. He had a unique talent for writing about relationships, whether roommates, families, or couples. This show continues that style.

In the story, the characters deal with love, romance, marriage, divorce, and their feelings on all of these topics. We see how relationships are dealt with - or not dealt with. Whether you are married or not, I feel you will see how you deal with general relationships in life through the characters interactions with each other. You will probably see a little of yourself in Albert, Claude, Andre, Mariette, Yvonne or Gabrielle.

Join the cast as we dine in romantic Paris for an evening of fun. As Gabrielle says at the end of the show, "Let's get to know each other better."

Meet the Company

Ted Burke (Claude Pichon)
Ted has been involved in community theatre for…quite a while, and is super excited to return to Cockpit in Court! Over the years, Ted has been both on stage and behind the scenes in pretty much every aspect of a show, but feels most at home when he gets the opportunity to “tread the boards” with an amazing cast like this one. Some of his favorite roles have included Clifford (Deathtrap), Simeon, (Joseph…), Captain Von Trapp (The Sound of Music), and Inspector Gould (An Inspector Calls). Ted would like to thank Al for asking him to be a part of this journey, Caye for continuing to support his insatiable need to perform, and the cast, crew and support staff for this show, without whom this would not have been such a great experience. But the biggest thanks goes to you, our audience. We truly appreciate you helping keep the arts alive!
Nathan Rosen (Albert Donay)
Nathan is delighted to return to Cockpit in Court! He was last seen here as Officer O’Hara in Arsenic and Old Lace. Recently he was Vanya in Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike at Spotlighters. Last summer he played Montague and directed Romeo & Juliet with Bard’s Wagon. He has directed 150 plays, mostly in high schools. He has appeared with The Rude Mechanicals in The Belle’s Stratagem, Dr. Faustus, The Tamer Tamed, Love’s Labours Lost, and Uncle Vanya (as Vanya, strangely enough). Nathan has also acted with Annapolis Shakespeare Co., Cockpit in Court, and Howard County Summer Theatre. Other roles include Maurice in Beauty and The Beast, Brannigan in Guys and Dolls, and Mayor Shinn in The Music Man. He thanks the staff, the cast, the audience, his wife Doris, his two sisters, his father, his children, and his grandchildren for their support, and apologizes to the dog.
Timoth David Copney (Andre Beauville)
Timoth is delighted to be on this journey with Cockpit In Court. Recent favorite roles include the multiple roles in Mankind (at Iron Crow), Dr. Frankenfurter (Rocky Horror Show at Iron Crow and this year as The Narrator, Padre (Man of La Mancha), JoAnne (Company), The Wiz (The Wiz), Jacob (La Cage Aux Folles), Judas (Jesus Christ Superstar), Bobby (A Chorus Line), Old Man (In the Closet), Andre (Ain’t Misbehavin'), and Belize (Angels in America). He has either directed, choreographed, or done both for, among others, Songs For a New World, Man of La Mancha, The Tempest, Sweet Charity, Jacques Brel Is Alive and Well and Living In Paris, Oliver (2x), The Wiz (2x), Ragtime (3x), Guys and Dolls, Hello, Dolly! (2x), Annie, Godspell (2x), Sunday in the Park with George, Drowsy Chaperone, Addams Family, Ain’t Misbehavin, Johnny Guitar, and My Fair Lady. He designed, directed, and choreographed the record-setting production of Do It Now!, the William Donald Schaefer Musical for the Baltimore Playwrights Festival at Fells Point Corner Theatre. In 2024 he will direct and choreograph the world premiere of Fag Gods for Spotlighters. He has worked on more than 50 productions in the Baltimore area as a dancer, director, choreographer, singer, and actor. He is currently the Board Chair of the Baltimore Playwrights Festival and serves on various committees for the Bolton Street Synagogue and the JCC. He is also a columnist/reviewer for MD Theatre Guide and BroadwayWorld.com. Timoth and his husband of nearly 25 years live in Original Northwood with their four-legged canine son, Wolfie.
Jennifer Skarzinski (Mariette Levieux)

Some favorite previous roles include: Blanche in Night Watch, Sissy in Come Back to the Five and Dime, Jimmy Dean, Jimmy Dean, Carol in Laughter on the 23rd Floor, Barbara in Social Security and Evalita in Daddy’s Dyin’ Who’s Got the Will? all at Cockpit in Court; Felicia in I Hate Hamlet at Dundalk Community Theater; Kristine in A Doll's House at Vagabond Theater; Sandrine/Marci in Almost, Maine at Ruxton Players; Tina/Erica in Game Show at Spotlighters; Queen Marie-Therese in Las Meninas and Evelyn in The Shape of Things at CCBC Academic Theater.
