The entire text is adapted from Larry Kramer's speech The Tragedy of Today's Gays, which he delivered on November 21, 2004, shortly after the reelection of George W. Bush. I read it again after the election of 2016 and found much of it so moving and relevant. I shared the adaptation with Mr. Kramer before he passed two years ago. I thank that cast for their creativity and passion for this material. The decision for the actors to use folders for their scripts was mine.
