Meet the Company
Michelle is deeply happy and grateful to return to Farmers Alley and Kalamazoo after two previous beautiful experiences here: playing Alice in BRIGHT STAR last summer and Diana in NEXT TO NORMAL a few years ago. Her 30+ year career has taken her around the globe from Broadway and off-Broadway in NYC to major regional houses throughout the US and all over the California coast; on 3 high seas and in huge theaters in the UK, Vienna, and Japan; and into folks’ homes on tv screens and indie movie houses on bigger ones. After over two years of so many challenges and losses, she feels so blessed to have this opportunity to sing these classics and celebrate the holidays by bringing a new show into the world of theater with some of her favorite theater people in the world. Tony Perry is an actor, singer-songwriter and voiceover artist. He is thrilled to be back at Farmers Alley Theatre! Paul is happy to be back in Kalamazoo where he last appeared as Max/Maxine in the Farmers Alley Theatre 2017 production of THE ANDREWS BROTHERS. Paul began his career playing Harvey Johnson in the national tour of BYE BYE BIRDIE, starring Tommy Tune and Ann Reinking. On Broadway, Paul was an original cast member of DISASTER!, 9 TO 5, YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN, HIGH FIDELITY, ALL SHOOK UP, SATURDAY NIGHT FEVER, FOOTLOOSE, THE SCARLET PIMPERNEL, and GREASE!, and was the lead vocalist stand-by for MOVIN' OUT. National Tours: Andy Blankenbuehler’s JOSEPH...DREAMCOAT, and 9 TO 5. He was Jinx in the Off Broadway, Los Angeles and Toronto productions of FOREVER PLAID for which he received the L.A. Ovation award, and Canada's Dora award. New York City Opera: THE MOST HAPPY FELLA. Ava is thrilled to be back at Farmers Alley Theatre after her role in BRIGHT STAR this summer! Originally from St. Louis, Missouri, she has been in numerous productions at the Muny, working with Gordon Greenberg, Dan Knechtges, Kathleen Marshall, and Jon Rua. She has also performed at the Clinton Area Showboat, portraying the roles of Dee-Lee in SMOKEY JOE'S CAFÉ, Sandra in ALL SHOOK UP, and Signe in CHURCH BASEMENT LADIES. Ava has graduated with her BA in Dance, BA in Spanish, and BFA in Musical Theatre Performance from Western Michigan University, but she’s not done yet! In December, she will graduate with her MA in Hispanic Studies before moving to NYC. Love to Michael and the entire Farmer’s Alley team!
Theodore is delighted to be making his debut with Farmers Alley Theatre! Theodore is originally from Traverse City, Michigan and is attending Western Michigan University. He recently played Luke in THE LIGHTNING THIEF at Western Michigan University, and Riff Raff in the ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW Shadow Cast at the Kalamazoo State Theatre. He is currently a musical theatre performance major at Western Michigan University. In his free time, Theodore likes to backpack in places such as North Manitou Island and the Teton mountains. He would like to thank his dad, Steve, and his mom, Diane, for supporting his journey as a theatre artist.
David Grapes II is an Emeritus Professor of Theatre at the University of Northern Colorado, where he served as the Founding Director of the School of Theatre Arts and Dance and Producing Artistic Director for The Little Theatre of the Rockies during his 15-year tenure. An award-winning director, actor, drama critic and playwright, David has provided administrative and artistic leadership for a wide variety of theatrical institutions including two professional regional (LORT) theatre companies. He also served as Associate Director of the Kalamazoo Civic players from 1983 to 1990. An active member of SDC and AEA his work as a stage director (250+ productions) and actor has been seen at major regional theatres across the United States. As a DGA member, David is the creator or co-creator of nine original musical revues, six plays and numerous adaptations (www.summerwindproductions.com), which have enjoyed over 500 productions worldwide. David holds a BA from Glenville State College and an MFA in Acting/Directing from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. In 2021 he was inducted into the College of Fellows of the American Theatre. ^proud member of Society of Directors and Choreographers
Nicholas Mueller is a musical explorer of the highest caliber. As a pianist, songwriter, vocalist, and creative director based out of New York City, Nicholas’ background in music ranges the gamut — from hard-hitting jazz to musical theatre, heavy rock to vocal ensembles both large and small, he has over 15 years experience as a professional performer; actor, vocalist and pianist. Nicholas originally hails from Kalamazoo. He graduated from Western Michigan University in jazz piano performance and directed Gold Company II from 2013-2015, during which time he also arranged for voices and sang tenor in the vocal jazz quartet Four Corners. Nicholas is happy to return to Farmers Alley Theatre after having performed in the pit orchestras for THE GREAT AMERICAN TRAILER PARK MUSICAL, DOGFIGHT, TITLE OF SHOW, and on-stage as an actor in the award-winning production of OLD WICKED SONGS. In NYC, Nicholas has been the leader of a free jazz project called Film Play, played in jazz venues across Manhattan and Brooklyn, and is currently working on his fourth full-length album as a singer-songwriter.
Jeremy Blair is a choreographer, performer, and educator based in Kalamazoo, MI. His creative research explores social-vernacular dance, jazz dance pedagogy, and queer representation in dance. His choreography has been presented at Jacob’s Pillow, NY City Center, Gibney, Harris Theatre, and other venues throughout the United States. Jeremy has performed with Thodos Dance Chicago, Lucky Plush Productions, Chicago Moving Company, Khecari Dance Theatre, Aerial Dance Chicago, and with Friches Theatre Urbaine in Paris. Jeremy received an MFA in choreography from the University of Iowa and a BA in theatre from Millikin University. Jeremy currently is an Assistant Professor of Dance at Western Michigan University and is a 500-hour registered Hatha yoga teacher.
Roger W. Burleigh* (he/him) (Stage Manager)
Roger is excited to be in his 10th season as Farmers Alley Theatre's Equity Stage Manager. Roger started his theatre journey in second grade and has been traveling that road ever since. Both as an actor and technician, Roger has graced many stages throughout the area, and has been at Farmers Alley since season two. Some of his favorites in recent years are NEXT TO NORMAL, THE PRODUCERS, DOGFIGHT, THE MARVELOUS WONDERETTES: DREAM ON, PETER AND THE STARCATCHER, THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA, MURDER FOR TWO, and THE CURIOUS INCIDENT OF THE DOG IN THE NIGHT-TIME. Roger would like to thank his family and educators who got him hooked on live theatre. There is nothing quite like experiencing a live production with a live audience. Samantha Snow (she/her) (Scenic Design)
Samantha Snow graduated in 2016 with a BFA in Technical Theatre & Design from Western Michigan University with a focus in scenic design. Since graduating Snow has worked for various companies and schools in the community including The Barn Theatre, Wellspring/Cori Terry & Dancers, The Arts Council of Greater Kalamazoo, and Portage Central Theatre. Currently Snow works as the Gull Lake Center for the Fine Arts manager.

He was awarded the Sutton Foster Ovation Award for his lighting design for BIG FISH and was nominated for a Wilde Award for his work on THE CURIOUS INCIDENT OF THE DOG IN THE NIGHT-TIME. His design work was also recently seen in the State Champion productions of URINETOWN and ANASTASIA. Jason's work at Farmers Alley includes designs for THE REVOLUTIONISTS, MURDER FOR TWO, THE MARVELOUS WONDERETTES: DREAM ON, LIBERACE, MILLION DOLLAR QUARTET, SPAMALOT, FOREVER PLAID, AND THE WORLD GOES 'ROUND, [TITLE OF SHOW], I LOVE A PIANO, and MY WAY: A MUSICAL TRIBUTE TO FRANK SINATRA. Originally from Pittsburgh, Jason has been designing professionally for 30 years and is currently the International Baccalaureate Coordinator at Portage Central High School.

Savannah previously served as Prop Designer for BRIGHT STAR, IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE: A LIVE RADIO PLAY, AVENUE Q, THE CURIOUS INCIDENT OF THE DOG IN THE NIGHT-TIME, A DOLL'S HOUSE PART 2, THE PRODUCERS, LIBERACE!, IT'S ONLY A PLAY, THE DIARY OF ANNE FRANK, and HONKY TONK ANGELS. A Kalamazoo native, Savannah has spent the last few years working as a freelance designer, stage manager and technician throughout Michigan, Pennsylvania and North Carolina. Prior to her travels she was the Stage Management Associate for the Kalamazoo Civic Theatre and Props Designer for Millbrook Playhouse. Savannah is thrilled to be able to call Farmers Alley her forever theatre home and is grateful to all who have helped her along her theatrical journey.

This marks Nicole's fifth production with Farmers Alley, and her first season as Resident Costumer. Her resume includes a wide variety of film and theatre from the historic outdoor drama THE LOST COLONY, "My Brother, My Brother, and Me," and such iconic shows as THE TOXIC AVENGER, AVENUE Q, THE PRODUCERS, MARAT/SADE, and THE ARABIAN NIGHTS. She received her MFA in Costume Technology from University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and her BFA in Costume Design From Marshall University in Huntington, West Virginia. She sends a thank you to her mother, her husband Murdoc, her Partner in Mischief, and her furlings for their love and support to keep her sane.

Mike Borzkowski (he/him) (Technical Director)
Mike is in his second season as Farmers Alley Theatre’s full time technical director. Born and raised in Kalamazoo, Mike has spent the last decade bouncing around various tech and production roles at many theatres in the area including Miller Auditorium, Chenery Auditorium, Farmers Alley Theatre and more. Specializing in taking things apart, but not necessarily putting them back together, Mike is excited to take on unique challenges and opportunities as Farmers Alley’s Technical Director for the 2022-23 season.

Merely the latest in a long line of performing Lensenmayers, Neal is a transplant from Williamsburg, Virginia. He came to Kalamazoo to obtain his Music Performance degree from Western Michigan University, where he studied with Tom Knific and Dr. Michael Hovnanian. Taking a ‘Master of None’ approach to music, he has performed in a number of ensembles and genres, ranging from Country music, to fusion jazz, to acoustic duo performance. He is currently living his childhood dream by performing in theatres all over south-east Michigan.
Jude Fleischman (Drums) is currently in his third year pursuing a Jazz Studies degree at Western Michigan University. In addition to working with WMU ensembles and faculty, he has performed with many groovy artists and groups including Wayne Bergeron, The New York Voices, Rosana Eckert, Sharel Cassity, Ali Jackson, and säje. In the theatrical world, Jude has been heard in other Farmer’s Alley productions such as SANDY BREMER: YOU'D NEVER BELIEVE IT and A GENTLEMAN'S GUIDE TO LOVE AND MURDER, and recently played in THE ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW at The Barn Theatre.
Eric Busch is a board-certified music therapist and professional musician originally from the Detroit area, now residing in Dorr with his wife, Kaitlin, and their one-year-old son, Ezra. For the past 13 years, including when he was completing his Bachelor of Music and Music Therapy from Western Michigan University, Eric has been routinely performing as a drummer in several West Michigan bands; playing at music festivals, small venues, private events, and restaurants with live music. Additionally, Eric has played on numerous studio recordings, released three studio albums with various bands, has experience in his home studio with music technology as a hobby, and teaches drum set privately.
Marcia Smith (she/her) and Tom Smith (he/him) (Wardrobe Support)
Marcia and Tom are long-time supporters of theater in the Kalamazoo area. Natives of Kalamazoo/Portage both were involved with their respective high school’s theater and music programs. They continued to support Portage Northern’s Drama and Music Departments when their children, Jennifer and Adam, were students there. Marcia was the Box Office Manager for 24 years and Tom lent his construction expertise backstage. Marcia was also a familiar face in her role as Assistant to the Directors for the musicals at Mattawan High School for 15 years. Together they have volunteered at Farmers Alley Theater since Season 1 and have assisted with the costumes for all productions since Season 8.
