Meet the Company
Markayla is thrilled to be a part of another CCBC production! This is her second lead role and she is excited to be center stage once again! She is currently pursuing a theatrical career, and attends CCBC with a major in Theatre. Some of her favorite roles would include Motormouth Maybel in a high school production of Hairspray, as well as Diwata Jones in Speech and Debate, which showed at CCBC Essex. She plans to find a career that truly makes her happy, and she’s slowly discovering that Theatre might fit the bill! Markayla is elated to be a part of this show, and hopes it all goes well!
Johanna is excited to join this amazing cast for her first show in almost three years and her first show ever at CCBC. Past roles include Enid Hoopes in Legally Blonde, Carmen in Curtains, and Juror #12 in 12 Angry Men. She is also a music director and vocal coach, having worked on Daddy Long Legs, Godspell, Spring Awakening and Ordinary Days.
Carolyn is excited to return to the CCBC stage in Fabulation . Carolyn is a musician who is studying Theatre as a means to expand her artistic expression. She previously made her stage debut in Speech and Debate. In addition to performing music, she has done background acting work in TV and film projects. Carolyn looks forward to creating a unique niche with her music, literary works and acting.
Olawale is a theatre/technical design major. He is playing the Yoruba Priest, an addict and other exciting extras. Olawale loves the art of storytelling, and acting is just one of the forms he uses to convey a story. This is Olawale’s first production he is acting in and he is very excited to perform for everyone.
Darian is a Theatre Major in her 2nd year at CCBC. She appeared on stage in the CCBC Spring Arts Festival 2021 and Fall 2021 as Louise Maske in The Underpants. She is a graduate of the Baltimore School for the Arts, where she performed in Of Gods and Men and worked on the production side for many productions including Pippin, The Nutcracker, and Little Shop of Horrors.
Alexis is in her 3rd year at CCBC and is a theatre major. Alexis wants to thank her family for encouraging her to follow her dreams and her boyfriend and his family for supporting her as well.
Antonio is grateful to be able to take part in a production at CCBC. An undergraduate from Morgan State University, he is delighted to be able to tackle more than one role for the first time in a play where no matter what happened or will happen, family will always come together and figure out a way. Antonio would like to thank the director and many of the backstage crew for doing a great deal to not only help the production run smoothly, but to help the actors as well, making them feel appropriated like family.
Jeremiah is a proud Morgan Bear in his Junior year. He has participated in a number of productions throughout his career at Coppin State University and Arena Players. Fabulation is his first performance at CCBC. Jeremiah is an enthusiastic and committed scholar who is passionate about making a difference in the lives of others and the community at large. Jeremiah is interested in pursuing a career as a television host, professional actor, film director, and philanthropist. Jeremiah is often engaged in a variety of career oriented activities and is very excited about being a part of the CCBC Theater family, and looking forward to be a part of future productions.
Junior is a 21 year old Digital Media Production major. This is his first show and is excited to play Hervé and a couple other characters as well. Here for a good time, not a long time.

Tamufar is very excited to make his acting debut at CBC Essex. He is currently a student at the Community College of Baltimore Country, majoring in Theatre/Performance. His special skills are brown belt Judo and French kick boxing. He speaks and writes French and Pigeon English and is a Veteran from the US Navy.
Shakiara is in her third year at CCBC Essex. She was last seen performing in last Fall’s play, The Underpants, as Gertrude Deuter and Spring Festival 2021. She was onstage for Our Lady of Kibeho, which was unfortunately cancelled due to the pandemic. On the production side she was Assistant Stage Manager in last Fall’s Speech and Debate. She will be pursuing a career in the arts including acting, writing, and content creation when she graduates.
Jan is a graduate of Morgan State University (MD) and Bowling Green State University (Ohio). She has directed several Theatre, Reader’s Theatre, and non-traditional productions including local museum performances, and the children’s play, The Story Train, a collection of world trickster tales that she adapted for the stage. Also directed by Ms. Short are Theatre Morgan’s productions of Anna Deveare Smith’s Twilight: Los Angeles, 1992 and Steel Magnolias. She co-directed the Pulitzer Prize-winning production Topdog/Underdog and God’s Trombones. Jan is currently the interim Theatre Arts Program Coordinator at Morgan State University. Happy to be back on stage, she is honored to be performing in Fabulation at CCBC, Essex with fabulous cast members under the fabulous direction of Lauren Erica Jackson!.
Owen is a Theatre Major in his 2nd year at CCBC. He graduated from Pikesville High school, where he began acting his senior year. There he was cast as the lead role in the production Harvey, and since then has continued his acting career here at CCBC. He was seen on stage at the Spring Arts Festival 2021 and worked on production of the Fall 2021 play, Detroit ‘67. Now he prepares to take on an ensemble role in the 2022 production of Fabulation or, The Re-Education of Undine.
Multi-hyphenate artist Lauren Erica Jackson is above all, a storyteller. Currently based out of Baltimore, MD, she began laying roots in this city’s vibrant theatre scene while still a student at Towson University, where she earned a BFA in Acting and a BS in English. She is an ensemble member at Single Carrot Theatre, where she has been an actor, playwright, and director. Lauren was also a founding member of Two Strikes Theatre Collective, a theatre company founded by and for Black Women. Most recently, Lauren was well-received in her first solo performance in Single Carrot Theater’s production of Every Brilliant Thing. Previous collaborative directing engagements include Glorious World of Crowns, Kinks, and Curls (Baltimore Center Stage, Asst. Director), Mr. Wolf (Single Carrot, Co-Director), and Detroit ’67 (Strand Theater, Asst. Director). Fabulation or The Re-Education of Undine is her first undertaking as a solo director.
is an Assistant Professor in the Performing Arts and Humanities Department at CCBC. She holds a BFA and an MA in Theatre Design and Production from Montclair State University in New Jersey. Professional and regional credits include The Whole Theatre, The Hangar Theatre, and Playwright Horizons in New Jersey and New York. Locally, she has designed sets and/or lights for productions with Cockpit in Court Summer Theatre, Phoenix Festival Theatre, and the Baltimore School for the Arts.
Ben is thrilled to be designing for Fabulation and CCBC. He is a freelance director and designer in the Baltimore area. Some of his favorite directing highlights include Funktopia at the Voxel (Co-Director, Scenic Director),Wrong Disease (film) at Single Carrot Theatre, Eurydice at The Warehouse Performing Arts Center, & Bare: a Pop Opera at The Edge Theatre Company. With a degree in Theatre Design from Winthrop University, he worked in the Greater Charlotte area for almost ten years before moving to Baltimore in 2019. Some of his favorite designs include: On the Verge (scenic/lighting design, WPAC), Ripcord (Scenic/Lighting/Projection Design, WPAC), SOTR A Midsummer Night's Dream (Co-Director, All Designs, WPAC), Into the Woods Jr. (Scenic/Lighting Design, Mooresville Community Children's Theatre), & Peter and the Starcatcher (Scenic Design, Community School of Davidson).
is thrilled to be costuming for the Performing Arts at CCBC having previously costumed for Cockpit in Court Summer Theatre's productions of Avenue Q, Laughter on the 23rd Floor, Toward Zero, The Gazebo, and Don't Drink The Water. Elsewhere onstage, she has been seen in such shows as A Christmas Story, Cabaret, Bridges of Madison County, Evita, and a Helen Hayes-nominated production of A Chorus Line. Eva was blessed to have traveled the US and Canada in 3 national tours: Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, Can-Can, and Singin' in the Rain.

Julie is a Professor, Playwright, Director and Coordinator of the CCBC Theatre Program. She received her BA in Writing Arts and Theatre from SUNY Oswego and her MFA in Playwriting from Brooklyn College. Her original plays include Henry’s Holiday (Winner of the Perishable Theatre’s Women’s Playwriting Festival), Obituary Mambo (Abingdon Theatre, NYC), Plastic Haircut, Three Hundred Out of Hades, Quiver and Sink (Mohawk Valley Community College), and Smolder and an adaptation of Upton Sinclair’s The Jungle (CCBC Essex). Her works have been produced in the Samuel French New Play Festival, Manhattan Theatre Source’s Estrogenius Festival, NYC’s Ensemble Theatre’s Opal Series, and Fitchburg State’s Americulture Festival. Locally, her plays have been produced at The Strand, Glass Mind Theatre, Vagabonds, The Kennedy Center (staged reading) and Fells Point Corner Theatre. Julie’s directing credits include Lysistrata, The Skin of Our Teeth, Marco Polo Sings a Solo, Blithe Spirit, The Maids, Picasso at the Lapin Agile, Metamorphoses, Kid Simple: A Radio Play in the Flesh, M. Butterfly, Neighborhood 3: Requisition of Doom and Pullman, WA, and most recently Suzan Lori-Parks’ Father Comes Home for the Wars. Julie is most proud of the devised work she has created with her students, including War Stories Staged (Winner of the League of Innovations Award) and The Consumables (performed at the KCACTF Region 2 Fringe and Baltimore’s ArtScape). Her devised production of Hamlet Lost/Found was chosen to perform on the main stage of the 2017 KCACTF Region 2 Festival, as well as her production of Waiting for Godot (set in Baltimore), which garnished two National Kennedy Center Awards in 2018. Julie is a 2012 recipient of a Maryland State Arts Council Grant in Playwriting and English Writing Arts Alumni Award in Playwriting, SUNY Oswego, 2013. She directs annually in the CCBC Academic Theatre Program and teaches Script Analysis, Introduction to Theatre and Writing for the Stage.
