DIRECTOR'S NOTE

A NOTE FROM OUR DIRECTORS……

We have had the honor of directing Our Place by Terry Gabbard! Taking place at a boating dock, 5 different groups of people, including couples facing hard times, a woman and her father, a contradictory sibling duo, and a family who all have different plans for their trip. We picked this bittersweet show in June, but we've known we wanted to direct a 24-hour show together since freshman year. It was just a matter of which one to pick. We looked at many potential shows, but nothing we saw tugged on our heartstrings quite like this one. 24-hour shows are very special to us, because it was Max's first show at OPHS on cast (previously on crew), and Persy's first show being involved. We want to thank Mrs. Schneider, our amazing stage manager Addison O’Grady, and our spectacular cast and crew who have worked so hard! Enjoy the show!

Dani Bojorquez (Sherry)
Hi, I'm Dani and I'm playing Sherry! I am so very excited to be part of this show especially because this is my first 24-hour play with a big speaking role, also it is directed by some of my closest friends! We are all working so hard to put this show together and hope you all enjoy it!

JoJo Bongiovi (Jake)
Hi, my name is Jojo Bongiovi, I’m in 12th grade, my pronouns are he/him, I play Jake, and is my 12th show at OPHS!

Nora Farkas (Al)
Hello! I am Nora Farkas, I am in 11th grade, and this is my 6th show here at Oak Park. I am so excited to be doing my first 24 hour play and to be playing this silly character. Thanks to all who made this production possible, and congratulations to our lovely student directors. I hope you enjoy the show, I definitely have!

Kadyn Freid (Anne)
Kadyn Freid is a Senior at Oak Park High School who has been participating in the school's drama program since her freshman year. She is so excited for you to see this show and hopes you enjoy it! She would like to thank everyone who made this show so incredible, such as the amazing crew, designers, tech, and her fellow cast members!

Dean Fronk (Stanley)
Hello Everybody! My name is Dean Fronk and I play the role of Stanley. I am so excited to take on such a dramatic shift in roles! This is my second time acting in a 24 hour show and am excited to perform for you wonderful people! Love y’all and enjoy the show!

Kaia Ghalimi (Sidney)
Hello everyone! I am Kaia Ghalimi and I am excited to be playing the role of Sydney in the play our place. I am a freshman, so this is my second show here and I have had so much fun working on it and making friends. I would like to give huge thanks to all the people on the cast and crew who are making this show possible. They are all so talented and kind, and I hope I can be a part of more productions like this in the future.

Miley Katz (Brenda)
Hello! My name is Miley Katz and I play Brenda! I am a junior and this is my 8th show at OPHS. I am so excited to be in Our Place as my first 24-Hour Play! Thank you to everyone involved in this production for their hard work and dedication. Enjoy the show!

Danika Koscelnick (Beth)
My name is Danika Koscelnick and I play the character the Beth, a daughter trying to rekindle her father’s fading memory. I am a Senior this year and this is my 13th ITS production at Oak Park High School. I am super excited to be a part of such an amazing and talented group of people! Break a leg!

Peter Mendoza (Jonathan)
Peter, a Junior, is playing "Jonathan" in his eighth Oak Park High School production. He has previously participated in Peter and the Starcatcher, The Addams Family, A Lighter Shade of Noir, Radium Girls, The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane, Something Rotten, Something Wicked This Way Comes, and Puffs. He caught the acting bug in third grade and has played several characters for Bell Canyon Broadway community theatre. Peter is looking forward to future roles with Oak Park High School. Lastly, he would like to thank his family and friends for their love and support.

Nikki Ngyen (Nicky)
Hey there! I'm Nikki, and ironically enough, I'm playing Nicky for my second show for the OPHS theatre program. I'm super hyped for this show, I know it'll be an absolute blast. Thanks to everyone that'll tag along this wild ride of a show!

Hi, my name is Aharon Shouhed, I am a freshman, and this is my second show at OPHS. I am so excited to play the role of Lyle in the show, “Our Place”. Thank you to everyone who made this show possible, and everyone who came to see it. We hope you enjoy.

Ava Winkle (Holly)
Hi! My name is Ava Winkle and I’m playing Holly. This is my first 24 hour show, and I’m so excited!! This show is so deep and sad but also so fun and hilarious. I can’t wait to perform for you all!

Gal Yelinek (Corey)
Hey y'all it's gal acting as Corey in my second 24 hour play and my 6th show at OPHS. I'm excited for this role because Corey is just an emotional fun character to play. I'm ready for more shows to come like mean girls and spotlight.

Hey! I’m Max Fybel, one of the directors of Our Place, along with Persy Ferry! I am so grateful to have such a genuinely talented cast and crew. Co-directing this show has been such a marvelous experience and made my whole perspective on auditions and the show process so different. I am thankful for every second of it!

Jade Wolff (Set Team)
Hello! I'm Jade Wolff and as a sophomore, this is my 6th show at OPHS. I've been performing since kindergarten, participating in everything from my very first show The Three Little Pigs, to OPHS's most recent production of Puffs! But unlike any production I've ever been in, I am so excited to be a part of the crew for Our Place! I am on the sets team and I am looking forward to learning about what goes on behind the scenes-- this will be such a new and fun experience! This show is insanely cool and I can't wait for you all to see it! :)

Ellyn Schneider (Director)
Congratulations to the creative team, cast and designers on a fabulous production of 'Our Place'. What a beautiful story and fantastic feat to have it ready to go in just 24 hours! Your dedication, enthusiasm, professionalism and love for the arts continues to amaze and inspire me. It truly is a dream come true to work with you all this year and to watch you grow as actors, costumers, designers, technicians, directors and producers. So, so, proud of you! Break a leg!

Evan Schneider (Design Supervisor)
This is Evan’s 20th show at Oak Park High School (class of’’18) and his 22nd overall. As a recent graduate of History and Film at the University of California, Los Angeles he is actively looking for internships, apprenticeships and jobs in the entertainment industry. In addition to supervising the theatre design teams, Evan is working as a Guest Teacher for all the exceptional schools in the Oak Park Unified School District. He wants to congratulate all the students on their hard work and dedication in putting on such a great show!

Zach Borquez (Technical Advisor)
Born and raised in Southern California, Zachary Borquez received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Music (Composition) from the University of California, Davis. He earned his Master of Music degree in Conducting as well as his Teaching Credential from California State University, Northridge. Mr. Borquez is super excited to be able to assist with Tech on this production of Puffs. Congrats to ALL the students involved in the production and a huge thank you to the dedicated parents who help to make the program what it is!

ITS Troupe #6074 (Producers)
ITS TROUPE # 6074 "Act well your part; there all the honor lies." The International Thespian Society (ITS) is an internationally recognized honor society for theatre students that promotes and recognizes student excellence in the theatre arts. There are ITS Troupes at high schools and middle schools across the United States and abroad. Students earn membership by participating in productions and accumulating points based on their theatre work. For more information visit schooltheatre.org. Formed in Fall of 2014, our troupe started with just a few enthusiastic theatre kids who had been involved in productions at Oak Park High School. They wanted to expand their theatre experiences and bring more visibility to the community. With the guidance of a couple of dedicated theatre moms, these students chartered Troupe 6074 of The International Thespian Society. As a troupe we aim to raise awareness for the importance of theatre arts and education through philanthropy, promotion, and being a positive community influence. We incorporate unique individualistic qualities to form a unified group that stands for cooperation, compassion, creativity and communication through theatre.
