History

Offsite Connecticut Theatre presents a new one-hour adaptation of the 1905 musical based on the 1904 novel The Marvelous Land of Oz by L. Frank Baum. With book and lyrics by the L. Frank Baum himself and music by Frederic Chapin. The first production opened in Chicago at the  Garrick Theater (June 18, 1905) which was later demolished in 1961. The show was reviewed poorly and because it run for less than a month it was considered a financial failure. It was revived and was adapted by Marc Lewis, who performed the revival  at all three of the International Wizard of Oz Club’s major conventions.
