These playwrights submitted scripts with the theme, “What Would You Do?” This theme explores the ethical dilemmas and decision-making in everyday life, with both the comedic and dramatic consequences of our decisions.

Meet Your Playwrights
Maripat Allen (Like Jason) Maripat got into writing plays through acting in community theater. Her full length drama, We Gather Together, won first place in the Community Theatre Association of Michigan's playwriting contest in 2014. Her full length comedy, The Would-Be Lover's Guide was produced in Manistee, Michigan in 2015. She has had two one-acts produced at the IndyFringe festival and ten-minute plays accepted in festivals in Michigan and Massachusetts.
Jeff Dunne (Seeing the Light) began writing plays actively in 2017, and has since created over 50 scripts, the majority of which are for stage, but a few for screen and radio. His works have won nearly three dozen awards and festivals, seen over 40 productions across the country, and have been adapted to film. Paul Lewis (Losing Tucker) is a playwright and composer whose projects include a musical adaptation of The Runaway Bunny (Boston Children’s Theatre, Second Story Rep); The Crossing, A Musical (Theater Schmeater and Jewel Box Theatre; book co-written by Carissa Meisner Smit); Caps for Sale, A Musical (Boston Children’s Theatre); Oblivion (Driftwood Players); and The Hours of Life, A Musical (Theatre22). His musical adaptation of Barbara O’ Connor’s bestselling novel Wish is currently being developed for the stage.
Elena Naskova (The Price to Pay) was born and raised in Macedonia and immigrated to the United States when she was 25. Elena’s plays have been produced and read in the USA, Canada, UK, Spain and Dubai. She’s a proud participant of the 14/48 Theater Project in Seattle, and a second place winner in the Las Vegas Little Theater New Works competition. Elena is a member of the Dramatist Guild and the Seattle Playwrights Circle.
James Pfrehm (Windfall) Oregonian-turned-Upstate New Yorker, James Pfrehm is an Associate Professor of German and Linguistics, an avid angler, and a former MMA cage fighter. His plays have been produced in theaters in the US and Canada. This will be the first production of Windfall.
Karla Sorenson (Whole New World) from Lowell, Massachusetts, has had plays produced at Galley Players, Nantucket Short Play Festival, Sandwich Arts Alliance, Ghostlight Theater, Actors Studio, Boston Theater Marathon, Image Theater, Arlington Friends of the Drama, Footlight Club, Playwrights’ Platform, Centastage, Firehouse Center, Acme Theater, Shelterbelt Theater, Towne Street Theater, Lakeshore Players, Astor Street Opera Company, Dubuque Fine Arts Players—and Edmonds Driftwood Players. Brent Stainer (The Good War) has been involved in virtually every element of theatre for many years, but writing is one of his favorites. He has written a couple dozen plays that have been performed by Fishnet Theatre, Archbishop Murphy H.S., and several churches in the area. His favorite play is always his most recent one, but other highlights are The Maid’s Trial – Joan of Arc, The Marianas Diary, Recovery of the Paynes, and What Love Looks Like.
Chris Whidney (Why?) is a New York City-based writer who spends as much time as possible wandering around in the mountains. Full length plays Family Men (Perry Street Theatre, NYC. Arden, Philadelphia), The Normals (Luna Stage, NJ) and Consumed (Barter Theatre, VA) along with one-acts and musicals have been presented and honored in theatres around the world including The Actors Theatre Of Louisville and City Theatre, Miami. He received his MFA in Musical Theatre Writing, NYU.
