Director's Note

Good evening everyone and Merry Christmas,

The Christmas season always brings back memories of the joy, love and kindness I have experienced in Christmas' past. From visits to Santa, train gardens, family parties, my mother's eggnog to watching the looks on my children's faces as they discovered what was left by Santa on Christmas morning, there is something about this time of the year that brings nostalgia to mind. Even Scrooge feels it when visited by Christmas Past.

Tonight, we want to take a step back to the 1940's during Christmas time for a look at maybe a simpler time. A time that most of us have only heard stories about. Times of gathering around a radio to listen to your favorite entertainers brighten your hearts for a short time. The songs, skits and zaniness they broadcast over the airwaves that you could only picture and image. It was also a difficult time with World War II raging in Europe which kept soldiers away from home for long periods of time especially during the Christmas season. Rationing of items was happening back home but people complied because they knew that those fighting overseas needed supplies.

Sit back and actually watch as the Feddington Players show you what it was like to perform a live radio broadcast. There will be singing, dancing, comedy skits and even live sound effects. You will feel as if you have taken a step back in time. You will not be a Scrooge after leaving the theatre. 

Thank you for supporting Cockpit in Court by your attendance and bidding on the silent auction. Money raised goes right back to the theatre to produce more great shows you have come to enjoy over the past 50+ years. Hope to see you this summer.

Robert Hoff

Clifton Feddington

Bob is now retired after two careers…public school teacher and public librarian (both in Harford County). From the late 1970s through the early 1990s, he was very active with Baltimore’s community theaters (including some Shakespearean productions at Cockpit in Court). He is quite happy to be in a play again after all of these years.

Tim Evans

William St. Claire

Tim is over the moon at returning to Cockpit in Court, having last appeared as Father Drobney, a tricky priest, in our 2015 production of Woody Allen’s farce, ‘Don’t Drink the Water.’ He’s also happy to be reunited with Al and Lisa, as well as a couple of other old friends in this cast and crew; and in making new friends in it, too. And, he’s overjoyed to be making his first real stage appearance since Covid! Tim has been hanging around Baltimore-area community theatre for nearly 50 years. Some of the Theatres where he has worked even still exist. Tim was last seen as Mr. Macy in the Laurel Mill Playhouse (LMP) production of ‘Miracle on 34th Street.’ Recently: ‘Love Letters’ (LMP); ‘The Mousetrap’ (Hanover Little Theatre); ‘The Trial of the Catonsville Nine’ (Salem Players); ‘Inherit the Wind’ (Vagabond Players); ‘Laughter on the 23rd Floor’ (LMP); ‘The Importance of Being Earnest’ (LMP); ‘Something’s Afoot’ (Vagabonds); ‘You Can't Take it With You’ (LMP); ‘The Exonerated’ (Vagabonds); ‘The Iceman Cometh’ (Fells Point Corner Theatre); ‘The Curious Savage’ (Friendship Players); ‘The Music Man’ (Reisterstown Theatre Project—RTP); ‘Romeo and Juliet’ (RTP); ‘The Taming of the Shrew’ (RTP); and ‘The Drunkard’ (Vagabonds).

Wayne is a 52+ year veteran of Baltimore area community theatre was last seen as Roger (Rump) in Tidewater Players’ production of Elite Grease. Thomas “Toby” Hessenauer

Fritz Canigliaro

Toby is no stranger to the Baltimore/Annapolis theater scene as this is his 97th production in the region. This year he has appeared in the Vagabonds Theater’s production of Agatha Christie’s Witness for the Prosecution (on 2 1/2 weeks notice) and in Baltimore Docket, an original play by Dan Rodricks. He has performed at Dundalk Community Theater in The 39 Steps, I Hate Hamlet, Intimate Apparel, Sugar Babies, The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas, and The Graduate. Here at Cockpit in Court he has appeared in Night Watch, Nice Work if You Can Get It, An Evening of Murder, Towards Zero, Sweet Charity, Laughter on the 23rd Floor and directed last year’s production of The Game is Afoot. Other previous roles include: Friar Laurence in Romeo and Juliet, Uncle Max in The Sound of Music, and Max Bialystock in The Producers. A graduate of the University of Rochester, he has also studied under members of the Royal Shakespeare company and the Folger Shakespeare Library. As a member of the Screen Actors Guild(SAG) he can be seen in the award winning HBO film Something the Lord Made , HBO's acclaimed series The Wire, and the Renee Zellwegger film My One and Only. He may also be seen briefly in episodes of Veep and House of Cards.

Kelly Rardon

Judith Davenport

Kelly is delighted to return to Cockpit in Court, as well as to the world of the Feddington Players, having originally appeared as Ann Collier in The 1940s Radio Hour (Silhouette Stages) in 2013. A few favorite past roles include Amalia Balash in She Loves Me (Silhouette Stages), Phoebe D’Ysquith in A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder (MST), Greta Ohlsson in Murder on the Orient Express (Just Off Broadway), Louise/Eve in Ruthless! (DCT), Jenny Lind in Barnum (HP), and Marian Paroo in The Music Man (RTP). Kelly plays with words for a living, is a singer by night, and talks entirely too much about her three cats in between. As always, she thanks her family and friends, who graciously put up with her shenanigans and offer unwavering support for every crazy idea she comes up with.

Ellen Manuel

Margie O'Brien

Ellen is thrilled to be back at Cockpit in Court playing the role of Margie! She was last seen on the Cockpit stage as Aquata in The Little Mermaid. Favorite roles include Cheryl in Evil Dead: The Musical (Deer in Spotlight), Ilse in Spring Awakening (Spotlighters), The Dragon in Shrek: The Musical (Glyndon Area Players) and The Captain in A Computer That Loves (Baltimore Rock Opera Society). Special thanks to her beautiful friends and amazing family for all their love and support throughout this process!

Clover Wellons

Sally Simpson

Clover is excited to play the role of Sally Simpson in 1940s Christmas Carol! Some of her favorite roles include Agatha Trunchbull in Matilda Jr, Caiphas, in Jesus Christ Superstar, and The Mayor from SpongeBob the Musical! Outside of performing she also enjoys doing tech crew at Children's Playhouse of Maryland.

Mikael Dagnatchew

Little Jackie Sparks

Mikael is so excited to play Jackie Sparks in Cockpits production of “A 1940 Radio Christmas Carol”. Mikael is a freshman at Calvert Hall and is currently in Mary Poppins as a featured dancer. He is also in Mercy High School’s “Sister Act” as Curtis Jackson. Some of Mikael’s favorite previous roles include Harvey Johnson (Bye Bye Birdie) at Children’s Playhouse of Maryland, Vlad Vladikoff The Grinch, Yertle The Turtle (Seussical), and Bill Sykes (Oliver Twist). He’d like to graciously appreciate his director, Albert Boeren, his musical director James Kraus, his stage manager Lisa Boeren, and his cast for welcoming and supporting him along the way. Cathy Herlinger

Isadora "Buzz" Crenshaw

Cathy was last seen at DCT performing as Mrs. Soames in Our Town. Other favorite roles include Birdie in The Little Foxes (DCT); Martha in Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf (Rogue Swan Theatre); Blanche DuBois in A Streetcar Named Desire (Phoenix Festival Theatre); Vera Charles in Mame (PFT); Chelsea in On Golden Pond (Spotlighters); Elaine Wheeler in Night Watch (Tidewater Players); Sister-Woman in Cat On a Hot Tin Roof (PFT); Mollie in The Mousetrap (PFT); Ernestina Money in Hello, Dolly! (PFT); Emily Brent in Ten Little Indians (PFT); Cassie Cooper in Rumors (PFT); Ms. Darbus in High School Musical (PFT); and, Sister in Damn Yankees (Milburn Stone Theatre). Cathy is also involved with play readings through Thirsty Thursdays with Theatre at the STAR Centre of Havre de Grace's Black Box Theatre.

Dave Guy

Harold J. Mullins

Dave has performed in 23 shows at Cockpit with his first one in 1979. Favorite roles include Nathan Detroit (Guys & Dolls), Amos Hart (Chicago), and Second Comic (Sugar Babies). Other favorite roles around the area include FDR (Annie), Mr. Mushnik (Little Shop of Horrors), Alfred P Doolittle (My Fair Lady), Lurch (Addams Family), Oscar Madison (The Odd Couple), Herr Schultz (Cabaret), Al Lewis (The Sunshine Boys), Ensemble (Evita). Dave has also been on Cockpit's Board of Directors since 2014.

Albert J. Boeren

Director

Albert has been involved with local theatre since 1978 when he first stepped on the stage at St. Michael's Overlea in Promises, Promises. Some favorite roles include Harold Hill (Music Man at St. Matthews), Rooster (Annie at Catholic High and St. Mary's), Einstein (Biloxi Blues at Merrick's Dinner Theatre), Clifton (1940"s Radio Hour at DCT), Sheldrake (Sunset Boulevard at Cockpit) and Mr. Pinky (Hairspray at Cockpit). Directing credits include: Cockpit - Odd Couple, Don't Drink the Water, Social Security and, this summer, The Dinner Party; St. Matthew's - Meet Me in St. Louis, Arsenic and Old Lace; Merrick's Dinner Theatre - Odd Couple (female version); Baltimore Playwrights Festival - Farewell, Mona Lisa; Rising Star - Barnum; Tony's Troubadours - Bye, Bye Birdie. He has also directed 2 other productions of Godspell. Albert has also worked behind the scenes on costumes, stage crew, spot lights and props. When not involved in a show around town, Albert works for Spirit Airlines. He enjoys just spending quiet time at home with his wife of 40 years, Lisa, his two children, Andrew and Angela, and his dog, Archie.

Jim Kraus

Musical Director/Toots Navarre

Jim is excited to be a part of this production of 1940s Radio Christmas Carol. Jim got his start at Cockpit in the original production of Jesus Christ Superstar. He also performed in the original production of The Music Man. Jim took his musicianship off the stage and concentrated on musical directing. He became music director at St. Michael’s church and he also directed the Chorus of the Chesapeake for a time. More recently he has been doing theater musical direction for various theaters most recently Always...Patsy Cline at DCT. Jim is looking forward to musically directing Hairspray at DCT in the Spring. During the day, Jim is Assistant Principal at Dr. Bernard Harris Sr. Elementary school in Baltimore City. He wants to thank Albert and Lisa for choosing him as their first choice as musical director. (actually they said, he was their last choice, but it all worked out!) He has enjoyed this experience and the cast very much.

Eva Grove

Costume Designer

Eva has costumed several shows for Cockpit in Court including Grand Horizons, The Dinner Party, Sweet Charity, Night Watch, Toward Zero, Avenue Q, Laughter on the 23rd Floor, Don’t Drink The Water, and And Then There Were None. Dundalk Community Theatre: Always...Patsy Cline, A Chorus Line, Catch Me If You Can, The Graduate and The Bridges of Madison County. You may have also seen her work in shows such as A Few Good Men and The Full Monty with Tidewater Players.

Lisa L. Boeren

Stage Manager

Lisa has been the CCBC Box Office Manager for almost 25 years! Lisa brings over four decades of dedicated service to the Baltimore theatre community, marked by her extensive expertise in stage management and technical production. Throughout her career, she has overseen hundreds of productions across various esteemed venues including Cockpit in Court Summer Theatre, Dundalk Community Theatre, and Phoenix Festival Theatre, among others. Her roles have ranged from stage management and technical operations to props management, costume coordination, and more, demonstrating her versatility and commitment to ensuring flawless production execution. She has been the Administrative Manager for Cockpit in Court Summer Theatre for the last fifteen years. Lisa’s passion for theatre extends beyond technical proficiency; she has been instrumental in fostering collaborative environments, working closely with staff, administration, and boards of directors to enhance audience experiences and drive operational excellence. Lisa holds certifications in budgetary development, leadership management, and crowd management, as well as a Non-Profit Organization Management Workforce Certificate from CCBC, underscoring her proficiency in organizational management and operational oversight. Her dedication to theatre and community enrichment continues to inspire and elevate the arts scene in Baltimore.

G. Maurice (Moe) Conn

Lighting Designer

Moe is in his 15th year as the Fulltime Technical Director and Designer at CCBC Catonsville Center for the Arts Theatre. He has an MFA in Scene Design and Technical Theatre and a BA in both Alcohol Learning and Drug Studies and Technical Theatre. Moe has been working in technical theatre since 1993, as a Designer, Technician, Technical Director, and Educator where he has spent most of his professional career. Moe has served as the Technical Director and Designer for Cockpit in Court Theatre, Maryland’s Oldest Summer theatre. He has also worked on numerous productions at in the Baltimore area. Moe has received multiple nominations for Best Scene Design, Received Best Scenic Design from the MD Theatre Guide’s Readers’ Choice Awards for his design of Sunset Boulevard. Moe is one of the original Long Reach Long Riders starting in 2004 and has been a part of the core since its inception. He continues to serve on the ”Horde” of Directors as they continue to move forward. Moe is the last of the first 9 still riding with the LRLR. For the last 19 years he has volunteered with Behind the Scenes and can be found in the booth at USITT and occasionally LDI helping provide awareness and support for the charity. He also plays a mean Kazoo.

Marc W. Smith

Sound Designer

Marc has been involved in theatre for over 50 years and has been responsible for designing or technically directing all 50 seasons of DCT productions! With B.A. and M.F.A degrees in Technical Theatre and Design from Towson University, he has been the full time Technical Director for CCBC Dundalk since 1980. In addition, he is the theatre technical consultant for the CCBC Catonsville and Dundalk theatre facilities. Marc has received numerous technical theatre achievement awards from The United States Institute of Theatre Technology. Several of his production designs have been displayed in juried expositions including A Little Night Music and The Cemetery Club for technical achievement and Bus Stop for scenic and lighting design. Marc's scenic and lighting designs for the CCBC Essex production of Zombie Prom were part of the finalists in the Region II Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival and his lighting design for the DCT production of I Do, I Do, won Best Lighting Design at the Maytime International Theatre Festival in Ireland.
