From The Director
From The Director,
I don't know about you, but I have loved a Christmas Story since the movie first came out in 1983. The story of Ralphie and his quest to attain the gift of all gifts, a Red-Ryder Carbine Action BB Gun, now which kid couldn't relate to that? Granted I wasn't the kid who wanted a BB Gun, but I still had those things that I dreamed about, and we all still do today. Of course, today's Christmas Presents might be a bit more expensive. 😉
This Show is about family, it's about the simple things in life, but more than that it's about growing up and dreaming of greatness. It's about Ralphie who wants to be the hero, he wants to be "Ralphie to the Rescue" and he wants to not be a wimp. It's about The Old Man who dreams of winning the contests he enters constantly, and it's about Mother who dreams of having her family happy and safe at home.
As we come to deal with today and all the crazy things happening in the world, we yearn for a return to normalcy, back to a time when we didn't have to worry, back to a time when we could just enjoy life. Hopefully this show helps you with that. The music is incredible and written by the Tony and Academy award winning duo of Pasek and Paul (Dear Evan Hansen, James and the Giant Peach and LA Story) Also the cast is pretty amazing too if I do say so myself.
So sit back and relax, and enjoy the story of Ralphie and his love of adventure, in a way you've never seen it before!
And remember, "careful, or you'll shoot your eye out!"
Enjoy!
Glen Carpenter
