Meet the Company
Jonathan Rufino
Belearic
Jonathan Rufino is a 4th year, and this is his final show at UChicago. Previous credits are all with the Dean's Men: Macbeth (Macduff, Winter 2019), Twelfth Night (Sir Andrew Aguecheek, Spring 2019), Much Ado About Monologues (King John, Autumn 2020), Love's Labours Lost (Ferdinand, Autumn 2021), King Lear (King Lear, Spring 2022), Romeo and Juliet (Capulet, Autumn 2022), Macbeth (Ross, Winter 2023), Twelfth Night (Orsino, Spring 2023) and The Taming of the Shrew (Petruchio, Autumn 2023). He would like to thank anyone who's been here for all or part of his college acting career for a hell of a ride, and wishes the UChi theater community all the best in their future endeavors! He's so happy that his last show could be one that he had such a personal hand in the creation of, and would like to remind you - as always - that despite what you may see on stage, he is naught but a silly little guy. Hail Caesar, and enjoy the show!
Gabriel Schneider
The Weird Knight
Gabe graduated from UChicago in 2022, where he took part in long and short-form theatre productions as often as he could. He is currently wandering in the wilderness and hoping to get into medical school. He wrote Belearic after the idea came to him in a dream, and he has been mostly bewildered by people's willingness to give their actual time and money to help him bring the play to life. In his free time, he enjoys biking, visual art projects, going to the gym, and working on Belearic 2 - Caesar's Vengeance.
Caroline Kaminsky
Lavinia
Caroline Kaminsky is a grad student researching the origin of life on planet Earth. She has performed with UIUC’s What You Will Shakespeare Company, UChicago’s Dean’s Men, and the Hyde Park Community Players. She is excited for her first non-Shakespeare show since Once on This Island in eighth grade (Bird). Her original bio said, "'In this universe, I choose to ally myself against any force which brings humiliation upon humankind.' Leto Atreides II." We hope you enjoy your stay in the depths of Gabe’s psyche.
Giancarlo Beritela
Claudius
Giancarlo is a second-year Econ/Romance Languages major, and is making his return to Cup of Theater after a year! His other acting credits include: Baptista (Taming of the Shrew), Chase (Dead Fun Society), Benvolio (Romeo & Juliet), and Flavio (All for the Best). He's also helping direct The Play That Goes Wrong, which goes up this spring!

Zyad Elmasri
Sound Operator
Zyad Elmasri is a second year Computer Science major. This is their first time working on a production of this scale, and they are eager to do their best.
Susan Ballesteros
Lighting Designer
Susan is a second year CS major at the College. This is her first time working with Cup of Theater, but she's been known to give a hand with lighting in various Fire Escape Films.
Joseph DePaula
Stage Manager
Joseph DePaula is a second-year Medieval Studies/History major. This is his first foray into stage management at the university (though it is his second overall), and he's had a blast! Joseph serves on the Cup of Theater board as Events Manager and on the board of Attori Senza Paura (UChicago's Commedia dell'Arte troupe) as Production Manager & Co-Outreach Coordinator. He is also a newly elected member of UT Committee. Primarily an actor, he has been a part of UT and Cup of Theater productions alike, and he is currently acting as Walt in Strings Attached (going up next quarter)!
The Cup of Theater Board
Production Manager
Members Include: Laura Tutondele Mahaniah (Managing Director), Sophia Balabanova (Artistic Director), Nathalie Lam (Technical Manager), Julia Morales (Secretary), and Joseph DePaula (Events Manager).
