Lyrics by Jon Hartmere
BARE is a powerful, contemporary rock musical that follows a group of high school seniors at an all-boys Catholic boarding school in the 1990’s as they navigate the complex terrain of self-discovery, love, and identity. At the heart of the story are Jason and Peter, two students who grapple with their forbidden love while contending with the oppressive expectations of their religious school, their peers, and their families. As they search for acceptance, the students wrestle with their beliefs, their desires, and the weight of societal pressures, all while confronting their personal fears and hopes for the future. BARE is an exploration of sexuality, mental health, and the longing for connection, set against a backdrop of soaring melodies and emotional ballads. The musical’s score, with its mix of pop, rock, and heartfelt anthems, speaks directly to the hearts of today’s audience—offering a blend of emotional depth and unforgettable music that resonates with anyone who has ever felt like they didn’t fit in. |

A word from our co-director Cierra Gamino-
"Only having been on the stage before, I took the opportunity to direct my first show alongside Brittany. I am so blessed to have been given this opportunity and have cherished every moment, the tough and exciting. I've learned so much and hope to direct more shows in the future that challenge thought and social constructs, as well as inspire and challenge the actors in our area to fight for what they believe in.
A huge thank you to Brittany for asking and believing in me to co-direct alongside her. I also wants to thank my family, especially my husband, Asher, for pushing me to step outside of my comfort zone and helping with our babies while I was away.
I believe “Bare” is a contemporary view of the world today and shows us that it’s the responsibility of everyone, especially those in authoritative positions, to be present and loving when dealing with any situation outside of normal social constructs. I want everyone who sees this show to view it with an open mind and heart. I urge everyone to leave the earth a better place every day you get the chance to be in it and love without limits. You never know when the last time you’ll get to hug, or show compassion to someone who needs your kindness."
Enjoy the show!
FIND YOUR LIGHT MENTAL WELLNESS
OUR MISSION
Across Northern Colorado, thousands of youth and adults face obstacles that hinder their personal growth. Lack of access to positive outlets, safe environments, and opportunities to explore their creative potential often leads to a decline in mental wellness. Colorado ranks 43rd in the country for mental health issues and lack of resources. Our programs have proven to be a beacon of hope and a catalyst for change. However, our current facilities and resources limit our ability to serve our growing community.
FYL is launching an ambitious $2 million capital campaign to purchase a building our community can call a forever home. This building will serve as a creative hub for the Northern Colorado community. With your support, we can expand our reach and amplify our impact, offering more people the opportunity to experience the life-changing benefits of the performing arts.
Ways to Give:
- Naming Opportunities: Leave a lasting legacy by naming a space in our new facility.
- Major Gifts: Become a founding supporter of our new building.
- Monthly Giving: Pledge a recurring gift to sustain our vision and ensure our programs thrive for years to come.
