Dalton Adair - Hans Dalton Adair, a freshman BFA Musical Theatre Major, is excited to make his UM debut with this production. Some of the shows Dalton has previously worked on include: Julius Caesar, Little Shop of Horrors, Alice in Wonderland, and Two Gentleman Of Verona. MaKensey Kaye Alford - Fraulein Kost MaKensey Kaye Alford is a senior B.F.A. Musical Theatre major at the University of Montevallo. She is so excited to have been cast in one of her dream shows and cannot wait for everyone to experience Cabaret! You may have seen her in UM’s production of Pippin(Catherine), A Class Act (Sophie), and in various roles in the ensemble of other UM productions. This past summer, she performed professionally at Prairie Repertory Theatre as the Stepmother in Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella and was an understudy for two roles in their production of Nunsense in Brookings, South Dakota! MaKensey would like to thank her parents and her professors for all of their support!

Libby Allred - Ensemble Libby Allred is a freshman BFA Musical Theatre major. Libby hails from Jasper, Alabama and she is overjoyed to be participating in her first Montevallo production! Some of her past credits include: The Addams Family (Morticia Addams), Radium Girls (Grace Fryer), Always...Patsy Cline (Louise Seger), 12 Angry Jurors (Juror #12), and The Wizard of Oz (Glinda). Libby has also starred in 3 award-winning commercials for Bevill State Community College. Jayla Bester - Herman Jayla is a Senior pursuing her BA in Theatre at The University of Montevallo. She is so proud to be appearing in her third Mainstage production here at the University. She would like to thank all designers and crew members who have helped worked on this show because without them the show would not be complete and to thank Dr. C and Jennifer Hartsell for giving her this opportunity to be in another UM production! Jackson Holsomback - Ernst Jackson Holsomback is a Junior BFA Musical Theatre student, and he is incredibly grateful for the opportunity to play the role of "Ernst Ludwig" in Montevallo Theatre's production of Cabaret! He has been seen in some of Montevallo’s productions over the last few years in roles such as "Orpheus" in Eurydice and "Benny" in RENT. He is incredibly grateful to Dr. Callaghan, the stage management and technical team, and fellow cast members for the wonderful experience of working on this show! He also wants to say that he is so proud of his girlfriend, Audrey Robinson, for all the amazing work she has done this semester as the Lighting Designer of The Glass Menagerie!

Larkin Kelly - Helga Larkin Kelly is a Junior studying Musical Theatre at The University of Montevallo. Cabaret is Larkin’s first show here and she couldn’t be more happy to be playing Helga! She was most recently seen in Pensacola State College’s double feature production of Plan 9 from Outer Space and Night of the Living Dead where she was warm-up leader, Sally Salsworth, and Vampira. Her most memorable show has been The Producers at Pensacola State College. Larkin is so excited to learn and grow in her craft with the help of faculty and staff at the University of Montevallo.

Taylore Kenty - Sally Bowles Taylore Kenty is a junior at the University of Montevallo. This marks Taylore’s third production here as a performer. She was previously seen as Isa in Kill.Move.Paradise directed by Kam Sanderfer, then made her debut as a choreographer and was a Player in Pippin. Taylore is so very grateful to have been entrusted with the role of Sally. The journey for this production has been tough, beautiful, and rewarding for Taylore. She is so thrilled to have been a part of the importance of telling this story. A special thank you to Dr. C and Jennifer Hartsell for wonderful direction and creating a lively and fruitful workspace for me as an artist, Marcus Lane for the safe environment he created with choreographing stage fights, as well as Jared Wright for the amazing choreography that helped bring this story to life.

Libby Lang - Frenchie/Greta the Gorilla Libby Lang is a Sophomore BA Theatre Major and is thrilled to be taking the stage in her first Montevallo Production! Recently, Libby transferred from The University of Mississippi where she studied in the BFA in Acting for Stage and Screen Program. She is native to Huntsville. At her previous university, she was seen as Isabelle/Sabine in The Liar alongside multiple leading film roles, one of which was accepted into a film festival and streamed in movie theatres! Alongside her performance credits, Libby also took an interest in the technical aspects of theatre. She Assistant Directed their Mainstage production of Little Shop of Horrors and Stage Managed a Tennessee Williams Play Festival her first year. Other credits include Katherine Plumber (Newsies), Beauty and The Beast (Belle), and Frozen (Olaf). Libby would also like to extend a warm thank you to the directorial team, cast, and crew for creating such a welcoming and loving environment for her first show here. She would also like to thank her family and friends who have never stopped supporting her on her endeavors— including Gigi, her puppy. Enjoy the show!

Hannah Mallory

Hannah Mallory - Fraulein Schneider Hannah Mallory, a senior BFA Musical Theater Major at the university, is thrilled to perform in Montevallo’s production of Cabaret. Hannah has previously appeared in Pippin (Berthe), Punk Rock Girl (Proxi), and RENT(Maureen). Taking on the role of Fraulein Schneider has been both a rewarding and challenging experience, and she is grateful for the opportunity to explore this character’s journey. Hannah would like to thank Dr.Callaghan, the cast, and crew for their hard work and dedication, as well as friends and family for their endless support. Enjoy the show!

Jake Manley - Max/Sailor Jake Manley is a current sophomore and is ecstatic to be making his UM Theatre Department debut with Cabaret. Jake is an alumni of Huntsville High School Theatre. Taylor McLendon - Ensemble/Two Ladies Taylor McLendon is a Junior BFA Musical Theatre major at the University of Montevallo. She is so excited to be in her fourth department production at the university. She has previously been in Punk Rock Girl, The Sondheim Tribute Revue, and Pippin. She was last seen in Grease at the Joe Jefferson Playhouse as Jan. Dominic Patton - Ensemble/Sailor Dominic Patton is proud to be taking part in his first production with the University of Montevallo. His previous acting credits include Sweeney Todd in Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, Munkustrap in CATS, and the Mad Hatter in Alice in Wonderland. Dominic is seeking a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Musical Theatre at UM, and is incredibly thankful to the Department of Theatre for the opportunities afforded to him by the program. He would also like to thank his mum for encouraging him in his pursuit of the Fine Arts.

D'Mar Tarront-Milton - Schultz D’Mar Tarront-Milton is a Junior BFA Musical Theatre Major. David Weeks

Cliff Bradshaw
David Weeks - Cliff Bradshaw David Westbrook Weeks is a freshman BFA Musical Theatre student and is incredibly thankful to be making his collegiate debut with UM’s Department of Theatre. In recent years, David has been heavily involved in competitive theatre as a member of the Alabama Conference of Theatre and an annual attendee of the Junior Theater Festival in Atlanta, GA. David comes to UM with years of experience performing and a newfound love for directing. He recently starred in a workshop production of In Pieces: A New Musical, where he had the incredible opportunity to work with composer and lyricist Joey Contreras. His directorial credits include serving as the Artistic Director for Spark Theater Company’s summer production of Gruesome Playground Injuries and directing an award-winning excerpt of Really Really. Additionally, his student direction alongside Caleb Brooks in ‘Night, Mother earned “Best in Show” and “Best Direction” at AYTE in 2023. Other notable performance credits include Mean Girls (Aaron Samuels), Les Misérables (Bishop/Grantaire), Mary Poppins (Northbrook), Children of Eden (Noah), Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dream-coat (Asher), Newsies (Davey), and The Music Man (Winthrop).

Cole Wilson

Cole Wilson - Emcee Cole Wilson is 19 years old and a Sophomore here at Montevallo. He started theatre in January 2022 and has fallen in love with it. Some of his favorite roles include Hades in Hadestown: Teen Edition, Colonel Mustard in Clue, and Dennis Dupree in Rock of Ages. He was seen last year in UM's productions of The Sondheim Tribute Revue and Pippin.

Nathan Wilson

Nathan Wilson - Bobby Nathan Wilson is a senior at the University of Montevallo. He has been performing for six years. His first role was Linus in You're a Good Man Charlie Brown. He has gone on the preform in Heathers: The Musical as Ensemble, Failure: A Love Story as John N. Failure, A Midsummer Night's Dream as Lysander, and now Cabaret as Bobby.

David Callaghan

Director
David Callaghan - Director David Callaghan is currently UM’s Musical Theatre Program Head and BFA Degree Coordinator. CABARET is one of David's favorite musicals, having previously directed the original version in Palmer Auditorium and Reynolds Theatre at UM. He is glad to have collaborated on this important story again with our current generation of theatre majors and a new creative team, including UM BFA musical theatre alum Jared Wright as Guest Choreographer. David has directed over 70 plays, showcases, and musicals in professional and educational theatre settings and his credits at UM over the years include THE NORMAL HEART; THREE SISTERS, CIRCLE MIRROR TRANSFORMATION, LIPS TOGETHER, TEETH APART, RECKLESS, CARRIE, CHICAGO, HEATHERS, SPRING AWAKENING, ASSASSINS; 2 productions each of HAIR, PIPPIN, RENT and COMPANY; and the AL premieres of MOLLY SWEENEY, SIDE SHOW, A CLASS ACT, HIGH FIDELITY, and THE LIGHTNING THIEF. In spring 2002, David enjoyed directing a workshop production of UM alumni Stephen Elkins and Rebecca Aparicio’s new musical SALOME VS JOHN, as well as a staged reading of Larry Kramer’s seminal AIDS play THE NORMAL HEART with an alumni cast; as well as a staged reading of LIFE SUCKS (sort of adapted from Chekhov's UNCLE VANYA) in fall 2023 and more recently at Birmingham Festival Theatre with the same cast of Atlanta and Birmingham actors. Before starting his teaching career, David worked as a freelance director and actor regionally on the East Coast and in the Midwest, and in casting at prominent NYC offices such as The Manhattan Theatre Club and Meg Simon Casting where he worked primarily on new plays and TV pilots, including the original Broadway productions of Terence McNally’s LOVE, VALOUR, COMPASSION! and August Wilson’s SEVEN GUITARS (and A.R. Gurney’s SYLVIA Off-Broadway). David has also enjoyed directing at several theatres in nearby Birmingham including the AL premiere of PARADE (co-production with Magic City Actors Theatre at the VST) and NEXT TO NORMAL and MY FAIR LADY with Red Mountain Theatre, where he served two terms as a Board Member. This past September, David directed a reading of a new musical, “The River,” for RMT’s annual Human Rights New Works Festival. He is the proud recipient of AL Conference of Theatre’s 2023 “Marion Galloway Award” for Contributions to Theatre in Alabama.

Jennifer Hartsell

Musical Director
Jennifer Hartsell - Musical Director Jennifer Hartsell earned her B.M. in Piano Performance and her M.M. in Composition from the University of Alabama. She completed additional studies in composition at N.Y.U. and Cornell University, where she was awarded the prestigious Sage Graduate Fellowship. After several years as the bass player in a punk/metal band, she completed doctoral studies in Collaborative Piano from the University of Minnesota. While in Minneapolis, she was composer/librettist for the critically acclaimed 2013 Fringe Festival show Pullman Car Hiawatha. She is the composer of the award-winning musical Flatliners, which premiered in 2021. Music Director/pianist credits include Little Shop of Horrors, Into the Woods, Beauty and the Beast, Fiddler on the Roof, Oliver!, The Sound of Music, A Wonderful Life, The Wizard of Oz,and Hedwig and the Angry Inch. University of Montevallo MD credits include High Fidelity, The Rocky Horror Show, Spring Awakening, Heathers: the Musical, Godspell, Company, Hair, Urinetown, Carrie, Priscilla: Queen of the Desert, Chicago, The Lightning Thief, A New Brain, Punk Rock Girl, and Rent. Jared Max Wright

Jared Max Wright - Choreographer Jared Max Wright is thrilled to be back on the bricks this fall to choreograph Cabaret! He is a 2018 graduate of the University of Montevallo where he earned his Bachelors of Fine Arts in Musical Theatre. Professionally and classically trained in ballet, tap, and jazz style dance, Jared has worked under professionals such as Fulton Burns, Chip Abbot, Amy Murphy, Robin Lewis, Cindy Ripley, Tim McDonald and Sara Brians. Jared continues his passion for theatre alongside his work with Music Theatre International and iTheatrics as a part of the Junior Theatre Festival Internship Program, continued work with the Virginia Samford Theatre’s STARS Program, and as a Red Mountain Theatre teaching artist in their education/conservatory program. Now a resident of Birmingham, AL, Jared has had the pleasure to perform in and choreograph various musicals. His choreography credits include: Spring Awakening (UM), High Fidelity (UM), Urinetown (UM), Company, Priscilla Queen of the Desert (UM), and Into The Woods. Some of his performance credits include: A Chorus Line (Paul), The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee (Leaf Coneybear), Mary Poppins (Robertson Ay), The Rocky Horror Show (Riff Raff), Newsies (Elmer), Beauty and The Beast (Lefou), Spring Awakening (Hanschen), Matilda (Ensemble), The Wizard of Oz (Scarecrow), Beautiful: The Carole King Musical (Swing), Heathers the Musical (Kurt Kelley) and Shrek the Musical (Pinocchio). Emmie Koehn - Stage Manager Emmie Koehn is a sophomore BFA Design/Tech major. She is so excited for you to see Cabaret. Emmie has been doing theatre for several years. Past productions include Nunsense (Stage Manager), The Wiz (Fly Operator), The Sondheim Tribute Review (Production Assistant), and most recently Production Assistant for the world premiere of Zelda in the Backyard at the Alabama Shakespeare Festival this summer. Emmie has loved the process for this show and wants to thank everyone involved for making it perfectly marvelous. Emmie thanks her family, friends, and the department for their continued support

Jordyn Kelly

Jordyn Kelly - Assistant Stage Manager Jordyn Kelly is a Sophomore B.S. Theatre Major with a concentration in Stage Management. This is her fifth show at the University of Montevallo, but her third Mainstage Show. Her past experience includes Production Assistant of Pippin! and Audio Show Caller for Sondheim Tribute Revue. Jordyn has been involved in technical theatre since her Junior year of high school and hopes to graduate with a BFA. She would like to thank her Stage Management team for always lifting each other up and working together as a family. She would also like to thank her Mentor and Professor Jen lane for all of the support and advice she's given. She can't wait for the audience to watch everyone's hard work to come together.

Caleb Stroman - Lighting Designer Caleb Stroman is an assistant professor of theatre and lighting designer. He was previous an assistant professor of theatre and resident scenic and lighting designer at Susquehanna University in Central Pennsylvania. In addition to teaching and designing in Pennsylvania, he has designed in Texas, Missouri, Kansas, and Iowa. Caleb is the Resident Lighting Designer for the Virginia Samford Theatre's 2024-25 Season where he recently designed ‘Chitty Chitty Bang Bang’ and ‘The World Goes ‘Round’. Adam Spencer

Scenic Designer
Adam Spencer - Scenic Designer Adam Spencer is a scenic and lighting designer. He received his BA in Theatre from Chadron State College and MFA in Theatrical Design from Illinois State University. Adam has served as Technical Director, Resident Designer, and Scenic Design Professor at The University of Houston - Downtown. At Louisiana Tech University he worked as the Technical Director and as a Scenic and Lighting Designer. He has worked at theatres such as Playhouse on the Square (scenic design), Theatre Under The Stars (asst. lighting and asst. scenic design), Lexington Children’s Theatre (lighting and scenic design), Birmingham Children’s Theatre (lighting and scenic design), TUTS’ Humphreys School of Musical Theatre (lighting and scenic design), Olney Theatre Center (props design), Main Street Theatre (scenic design), Alley Theatre (scenic construction), and Asolo Rep (props construction). He is excited to work with the next generation of theatre artists.

Reagan Parrott - Props Designer Reagan Parrott is a senior BFA Design/Tech major at the University of Montevallo. This is her 14th production with the department and her 5th time as a Props Designer. She loves this University and this production, and she hopes you will fall in love with it as well.

Emily Gill

Costume and Makeup Designer
Emily Gill - Costume and Makeup Designer Emily Gill is currently the Director of the Malone Center For Excellence In Teaching and Associate Professor of Theatre specializing in Costume Design. She comes to UM from earning an MFA in Drama from the University of Georgia (2007), a freelance design career in Atlanta as well as an internship at the Seattle Repertory Theatre (2000-2001). Emily earned a BA in English and Theatre Performance and Design from Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida (2000). In addition to primary costume and makeup design duties at UM, Emily designs costumes and make-up effects for Southeast area regional theatres, including City Equity Theatre's production of Peter and the Starcatcher (winner Broadway World Birmingham 2015 Best Costume Design of a Local Play or Musical); Hedwig and the Angry Inch and Bloody Bloody AndrewJackson for theDANE. Emily is a frequent attendee and participant in the Prague Quadrennial Design Exposition, and a member of the inaugural cohort of Odyssey Works’ Experience Design Certification Program (with financial support from UM Faculty Development). Locally, Emily is on the Board of Directors of the Montevallo Arts Council as well as the Montevallo Artwalk Coordinator. “Most of my day is moving from a meeting about Core Learning Outcomes and successful retention rate statistics to looking at a student’s “witch face” sculpt before molding to dropping in on some other students boiling braiding hair in a pot of dye as part of an experiment, to finally meeting with students to discuss their academic and career goals. Brian Sechrist

Technical Director/Sound Designer
Brian Sechrist - Technical Director/Sound Designer Brian Sechrist received his MFA from The University of Alabama and BA from University of Alaska, Anchorage. TD and Sound Design works include Guys and Dolls, The Crucible, Chess the Musical, Much Ado About Nothing and The Glass Menagerie. Brian is delighted to be a part of the production team and a part of this university.

Marcus Lane

Fight Director
Marcus Lane - Fight Director Marcus Lane is an Associate Professor of Theatre and Head of Actor Training here at UM. He teaches movement, stage combat, acting and directing. He received his MFA in Acting Pedagogy from the University of Alabama and his BA in Theatre from Louisiana Tech University. Over the years, Marcus has worked as an actor, fight director/choreographer, movement coach, and director. Recent directing credits at UM include THE GLASS MENAGERIE, AS YOU LIKE IT, TARTUFFE, STOP KISS and PRISCILLA QUEEN OF THE DESERT. His work has also been featured at the Alabama Shakespeare Festival, City Equity, Theatre Downtown and at The DANE. He has received several BroadwayWorld.com nominations for his work, including nominations for Best Director for BOY GETS GIRL at Theatre Downtown, HEDWIG AND THE ANGRY INCH at THE DANE and a nomination for Best Production in the last decade for THE WOLVES at UM. He recently played Father Russel in the feature film SHADOW TAG, which should hit theatres in the spring of 2024. Some of Marcus’s favorite acting credits include Riff Raff in THE ROCKY HORROR SHOW, Mad Hatter in ALICE IN WONDERLAND, and Daniel Boone in BLUE JACKET. Amy Murphy

Vocal Coach
Amy Murphy - Vocal Coach Trained in Opera Performance and Music Education at Juilliard and New England Conservatory of Music, Amy Murphy has sung and taught professionally for 31 years, the result of which is her Patented Vocal Technique (Patent No. 8,629,341). Her performances include: The International Hayden Festival in Vienna, Carnegie Hall, Radio City Music Hall, the Uris Theatre and the Winter Garden Theatre, Lincoln Center at Avery Fisher Hall, Alice Tully Hall, Cami Hall and the Dicapo Opera Theatre. Amy has toured with opera companies in Europe as well as the states. Amy maintains a large private voice studio in Birmingham. She conducts the Junior League of Birmingham Choral Group, an accomplished Women’s Chorus whose performances spread joy and goodwill throughout the greater Birmingham area. Under Amy’s direction, the group has expanded their repertoire and reach, with repeated Carnegie Hall appearances. Amy has taught Voice at the University of Alabama and is currently on staff as Adjunct Professor at the University of Montevallo. She is also a certified teacher K-9/5-12 in both choral and instrumental concentrations.

Michael Walker

Dialect Coach
Michael Walker - Dialect Coach Michael Thomas Walker (he/him) is the Chair of The Department of Theatre and an Associate Professor of Acting and Voice at the University of Montevallo. He received an MFA in Acting from Rutgers University and a BA in Theatre from the University of Alabama. University of Montevallo theatre directing credits include A New Brain, Septic, A Midsummer’s Night Dream, The Last Days of Judas Iscariot, Urinetown, Much Ado About Nothing and Clybourne Park. Other directing credits include Hairspray, The 39 Steps, God of Carnage, SIDD with the New Light Theatre Project in NYC, and the award winning solo play BIOHAZARD. His next directing project is Best of Enemies at Theatre Tuscaloosa. As an actor, he has performed in NYC with The New Light Theater Project, The Weasel Festival, Jean Cocteau Repertory, Guerrilla Theater, Boomerang Theater Company, and the national tours of Hairspray playing Edna Turnblad and Seussical the Musical as Horton the Elephant. He recently performed at Red Mountain Theatre as a part of their Human Rights Festival in the new musical Bar Mitzvah in Birmingham. Michael was a finalist for the Edna St. Vincent Millay Colony Playwriting Residency and is a recipient of the Wildacres Playwriting Residency. His interview based solo show, BUBBA, received the Best Variety Show Award in the United Solo Festival, Best Solo Performance Award for the Planet Connections Festival and was recently performed on NPR’s “Tales From The South”. His film and television appearances include Boardwalk Empire, Dirty Little Secret, Now That’s Cute, and Non-Stop. He is also co-author of the play Canfield Drive which received its world premiere production at The Black Rep in St. Louis in 2019. Canfield Drive is a play about the murder of Michael Brown and the Black Lives Matter Movement. The show was also performed as part of the National Black Theatre Festival. In the summer of 2022 Michael co-produced a production of the play MARROW by Brian Quirk Off-Broadway at 59E59 Theatre. That production then transferred to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Michael currently serves on the executive committee of the Acting Focus Group for ATHE and is a member of the Homewood Arts Council.
