A message from our Director.........

I’m not gonna lie, it’s been a rough year, especially if you’re a theater kid. Broadway has been shut down for over 365 days...and counting. Countless actors, writers, composers, dancers, stage managers, and designers are unemployed. Even worse, thousands of high school theatre productions across the United States closed before ever seeing a live audience. You would think after being dealt a set of cards this bad, the theatre kids of America would just throw in the towel and give up. This is not true for the members of ITS Troupe #6074 at Oak Park High School. These students are some of the most professional, hardworking, committed, enthusiastic, creative and technologically-savvy people I have ever had the privilege to collaborate with (can I also take a second to mention how unbelievably talented they are, they make my job so easy). These kids have risen to the challenge of producing and performing a show that is not only a full-length play, not only a comedy that relies heavily on precise timing and physical humor, not only a piece based on a very iconic film, but also have had to adapt said play to be performed for a virtual audience. If that doesn’t qualify as deserving of a Tony Award, I don’t know what does. I am so incredibly proud of these students, those working on-screen and off, and I cannot wait for you to watch their awesomeness. A special thank you to Edward Park and OPPAA for helping produce this wonderful production as well as OPHS ITS Troupe Co-Advisor Kevin Buchanan and the OPHS ITS Board for giving me the opportunity to work with these wonderful people. Thank you to OPHS ITS Troupe Co-Advisor, Ellyn Schneider, for being the most amazing Managing Producer that any Director could ask for.  Thank you to Ethan Grinberg, Tech-Wizard Extraordinaire. Thank you to my wonderful Assistant Director, Ashley Sanft, I genuinely do not know what I would do without her attention to detail and all-around amazingness. And last but not least, to the wonderful cast and crew of CLUE, you guys are killing it! It was an absolute blast working with all of you and I hope to work with each and every one of you again someday, hopefully in person...in an actual theatre...on Broadway!
