DEDICATION
Pembroke Pines Theatre of the Performing Arts dedicates "Places: the 2021-2022 Season" to Alvin Entin.
Alvin Entin, October 18, 1945 – October 25, 2020
Alvin was PPTOPA's beloved Chairman of the Board and a fierce advocate of the theatre as well as a frequent actor, gracing the PPTOPA stage over the years. PPTOPA mourns his loss and dedicates this season to him with love and gratitude for his decades of service to us and all of the South Florida theatre community.
President's Note
On behalf of all of us at PPTOPA, welcome back.
It's difficult to find the words to describe how good it feels and how much it means to all of us to say that again. After 20 months of being forced to keep our stages dark, it's finally time to call "Places!" on our 2021-2022 season and light up the stage to bring PPTOPA's special brand of theatre magic to life once again. Thank you for being here to celebrate the reopening of your theatre.
We've all been through so much in the last year-and-a-half, from our own backyards to the entire country embattled by a global pandemic and polarizing politics. That's one of the reasons Cabaret is the perfect show to kick off our season. The themes in this show highlight the dangers of being afraid of and vilifying people different than we are, and the dangers of racism, and the importance of inclusion. Important reminders to everyone in this country that seems so divided right now. And yet despite these divisions, the arts survive and here we are back in the spaces we cherish, together in the communal experience of sharing live theatre again.
It's in that spirit of sharing our art that we dedicate this season to Alvin Entin, our longtime Chairman and frequent performer onstage, who worked tirelessly for decades to help the theatre he loved so much thrive and grow. The entire South Florida theatre community mourns his loss, but none so much as our PPTOPA family who have relied on his steady leadership and loving friendship for so long.
We have worked hard to ensure a clean, safe and healthy environment for you to enjoy the theatre you love so much with peace of mind. These efforts include stringent COVID protocols and I encourage you to review them on our website and help keep all of us safe. Please do not hesitate to reach out to us with any questions or concerns regarding our policies.
Thank you to Jersey College of Nursing, the City of Pembroke Pines and Hollybrook Golf and Tennis Club for your support during these unusual times. And of course thank you to the amazing cast, crew and creative team of Cabaret. This is a dream team of artists who are about to take your breath away.
Welcome back. Enjoy the show.
"Places!"
