A very warm welcome to you all from Cassio Productions to the Watford Palace Theatre for our production of 'Crazy for You'. We are so excited to be back at the Watford Palace and we hope you enjoy the show.
A zany rich-boy-meets-hometown-girl romantic comedy, Crazy For You® tells the story of young New York banker Bobby Child, who is sent to Deadrock, Nevada, to foreclose on a rundown theatre. In Deadrock, Bobby falls for spunky Polly Baker, the theatre owner’s daughter. But Polly takes an instant dislike to the city slicker, so Bobby vows – through cunning, razzmatazz, and a hilarious case of mistaken identity – to win Polly’s heart and save the theatre. Memorable Gershwin tunes from the score include “I Got Rhythm,” “Naughty Baby,” “They Can't Take That Away from Me,” “Embraceable You,” “But Not for Me,” “Nice Work If You Can Get It” and “Someone to Watch Over Me.”
You will next see us performing a short set at the Watford Winterfest on Sunday 15th November. Then our next show at the Palace will be 'Priscilla - Queen of the Desert' which will be from 12-16th May 2026. We hope to see you at those in the the future.
If you are interested in joining or helping with Cassio then please let us know by talking to any one of us after the show or contacting us via our Facebook page or website pages. You will be made very welcome.
Now sit back and relax and enjoy the show!
Director's Notes
Welcome to Crazy For You or perhaps I should say, welcome to the movies!
When I first began imagining this production, I was inspired by the golden age of MGM musicals those glorious black-and-white worlds that burst into technicolour and tap shoes, where dreams were big, hearts were hopeful, and every problem could be solved with a song and a dance. So tonight, as the curtain rises, we invite you behind the camera. You’re not just watching Crazy For You, you’re on set, witnessing an old Hollywood musical being made before your very eyes.
This show is a love letter, not only to Gershwin’s timeless music and the glitz of classic cinema, but also to the power of community theatre. In a world that often moves too fast, there’s something magical about people coming together to tell stories, to sing, to laugh, and to create something out of sheer passion.
Cassio Productions was built on that spirit a belief that theatre belongs to everyone, and that the joy of performing and creating together can light up any stage, from Broadway to the Watford Palace.
So sit back, imagine the camera rolling, and let yourself be swept away by the glamour, the comedy, and the glorious music of Crazy For You. Thank you for supporting local theatre, you keep the lights shining and the stories alive!
Chris

About Cassio Productions
Who We Are
Cassio Productions produce musical theatre in the Watford Area. We are a membership-based group staging quality musical theatre shows at least once a year. Purely for fun, our performers and technicians rehearse and perform together in a vibrant and creative atmosphere. The group is primarily for adults (age 16+) who rehearse in the evenings, several times a week and occasionally at weekends. We welcome those who enjoy theatre purely as a hobby but we also enjoy working with those who already have or aspire to work in the professional theatre.
The first Cassio show was in 1949 when friends, drawn from the choir of St Michael's Church in Watford who before the Second World War gave concerts, decided to branch out and produce pantomimes and shows. This group used the name Cassio Operatic Society for a number of years before changing to being Cassio Productions which is now our official name.
From our humble beginnings Cassio has gone from strength to strength and we now promote our large-scale productions around the area.
For over sixty years Cassio have performed shows at the Watford Palace Theatre, a wonderfully restored Edwardian Theatre in the heart of the town. Other venues in Watford have included the Pump House Theatre and the James Theatre with performances further afield at Watersmeet in Rickmansworth and the Henderson Hub in Abbots Langley.
