THINGS TO KNOW

COVID-19 SAFETY:

To attend a performance everyone in your party must present proof of vaccination for COVID-19 (with a second dose at least 14 days prior to the date of the performance), plus a booster (if eligible) with a valid photo ID. Recording and photography of any kind are prohibited at Capital Stage during the performance.


CELL PHONES:

Patrons are asked to turn communication devices off upon entering the theatre.


LATE SEATING & RE-SEATING:

Due to the design of our theatre, we cannot guarantee seating for late arrivals or for patrons who leave the theatre during the performance. As a courtesy to our artists and our audiences, late arrivals will be seated in a suitable location by our staff if possible and at the appropriate intervals.


REFRESHMENTS:

Only concession items purchased in the Wine & Dessert Bar are allowed in the theatre, patio and lobby areas. Yes you can bring your drinks and snacks into the theatre!


CHILDREN:

Capital Stage is noted for bringing intimate bold productions to our region and we encourage young adults to experience a live performance. Children age sixteen and up are welcome at Capital Stage unless specifically noted in the production’s description.


WHEELCHAIR SEATING:

Seating locations at Capital Stage for patrons using wheelchairs or with limited mobility are located in the first row. Tickets for these seats may be purchased in person or by calling the Box Office at 916-995-5464.


RESTROOMS:

Restroom facilities are located in the lounge behind the Wine & Dessert Bar.

Jouni Kirjola*

Lorin
Jouni Kirjola* - Lorin Jouni is a Sacramento-based actor, director, and sound designer. He is excited to return to Capital Stage where he previously appeared in THE THANKSGIVING PLAY. Most recently, Jouni “killed it” as Professor Plum in Sacramento Theatre Company’s production of CLUE: THE MUSICAL. Favorite roles include Charley in MERRILY WE ROLL ALONG (New Helvetia Theatre), Marquis de Sade in QUILLS (TAAC), Mr. Burns in MR. BURNS, A POST-ELECTRIC PLAY (Capital Stage), and Dr. Frank N. Furter in THE ROCKY HORROR SHOW (Green Valley Theatre).

Vernon Lewis

Vernon Lewis - Miles/Shawn/Rashaad Vernon is very excited to be working with Capital Stage again (this time on stage!). For the past 15 years, Vernon has been able to be a part of many thrilling productions such as a list of British Pantos, multiple Shakespeare Festivals at Sacramento City Theatre, and assortment of supporting and lead roles in BOOTYCANDY, A CHRISTMAS CAROL and CANNERY ROW. Recently, Vernon has been gaining experience Directing and Assistant Directing with shows such as THIS IS HOW IT HAPPENED, THE MAGIC LAMP, and PASS OVER.

Shannon Mahoney*

Shannon Mahoney* - Gloria/Nan Shannon Mahoney is thrilled to be back at Capital Stage! She is a Sacramento based actor, director and choreographer. Acting credits include LUNA GALE, MAPLE IN VINE, CLYBOURNE PARK, and ENRON at Capital Stage; THE LADIES FOURSOME and THE SOUND OF FREEDOM at B Street Theatre; Sacramento Theatre Company’s production of THE CRUCIBLE; KILLER JOE and A STREETCAR NAMED DESIRE at Big Idea Theatre. Some recent choreography credits include: VIETGONE, MR. BURNS, ANNA KARENINA at Capital Stage; RENT at Falcon’s Eye Theatre; and CARRIE THE MUSICAL for Sacramento City College. She has her MFA from CSU Fullerton and is a proud member of Actors’ Equity.

Mayette McDonald

Kendra/Jenna
Mayette McDonald - Kendra/Jenna Mayette McDonald returns to the stage after more than a decade since appearing in B Street Theatre’s THE INTELLIGENT DESIGN OF JENNY CHOW and B Street School Tours. She holds a BA in Theatre from California State University, Sacramento where she appeared in TWELFTH NIGHT and HOW TO SUCCEED IN BUSINESS WITHOUT REALLY TRYING. Her voice was featured in 4000 MILES at Capital Stage and she participated in a staged reading of MOTHERS at the 2018 National Showcase of New Plays. She has won several acting awards from the Sacramento Film and Music Festival and works in the tech industry.

Connor Mickiewicz*

Dean/Devin
Connor Mickiewicz* - Dean/Devin Connor is an actor, director, and teaching artist in the Sacramento region and was the founding artistic director of New Helvetia Theatre. Previous acting credits include Baby William in THE BEHAVIOR OF BROADUS (Capital Stage), Jeff in [title of show], Warren in ORDINARY DAYS (both with NHT), and Nick/Narrator for Ron Cunningham’s THE GREAT GATSBY (Sacramento Ballet). Directing credits include PASSION, MERRILY WE ROLL ALONG, TELL ME ON A SUNDAY (NHT), and CARRIE (Sacramento Theatre Company’s Young Professional Conservatory). He also staged the high school musical numbers for the movie “Lady Bird.”

Hilary Schwartz

Ani/Sashi/Callie
Hilary Schwartz - Ani/Sashi/Callie Hilary is a Chicago-based actor and is thrilled to be making her Capital Stage debut. Recent credits include ALL'S WELL THAT ENDS WELL (Chicago Shakespeare Theatre), A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM, MACBETH (Shakespeare on the Vine), OTHELLO (Babes with Blades), THE DARK AT THE TOP OF THE STAIRS (Eclipse Theatre), and HINTER (World Premiere, Steep Theatre). Hilary has worked extensively with the Road Theatre in Los Angeles, where she has performed in a number of premieres, including the world premiere of JOHN IS A FATHER by Julie Marie Myatt and the west coast premiere of ANATOMY OF A HUG, directed by Ann Tobolowsky. She can also be seen in a number of film projects, including the upcoming horror film FANG, directed by Richard Burgin, COMMON GULLS, a web series directed by Morgan Bass, and in various commercial spots for KMart, Mcdonald's, and Google. She received her degree in acting from UC Irvine.

Branden Jacobs-Jenkins

Playwright
Branden Jacobs-Jenkins - Playwright Branden Jacobs-Jenkins' plays include NEIGHBORS (Public Theater), APPROPRIATE (Actors Theatre of Louisville, Victory Gardens Theater, Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company, and Signature Theatre), AN OCTOROON (Soho Rep), and WAR. He is a Residency Five playwright at Signature Theatre and a Lila Acheson Wallace Fellow at the Juilliard School. Additionally, his work has been seen at the Vineyard Theatre, the Matrix Theatre in Los Angeles, Company One in Boston, and the HighTide Festival in the United Kingdom. He has taught at New York University and Queens University of Charlotte, and his honors include the Paula Vogel Award in Playwriting, the Helen Merrill Playwriting Award, and the inaugural Tennessee Williams Award. He holds an MA in Performance Studies.

Michael Stevenson

Michael Stevenson - Director/Artistic Director For Capital Stage, Michael has directed THE LIFESPAN OF A FACT, ADMISSIONS, THE HUMANS, THE OTHER PLACE, SWEAT, THE THANKSGIVING PLAY, LUNA GALE, STUPID F##KING BIRD, HOW TO USE A KNIFE, DISGRACED, MR. BURNS, IDEATION, CLYBOURNE PARK, MAURITIUS, ERRATICA (World Premiere), and LES LIAISONS DANGEREUSES. He has directed at regional theaters including: B Street Theater, Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival, Orlando Shakespeare Company, Perseverance Theater Company, and Sacramento Theater Company. As an actor he has appeared at many regional theaters including: 42nd Street Moon, American Conservatory Theater, The Aurora Theater, Bailiwick Repertory Theater, Capital Stage, B Street Theater, the Utah Shakespeare Festival, and Marriott’s Lincolnshire Theater. He holds an M.F.A. from the American Conservatory Theater.

Keith Riedell

Managing Director
Keith celebrates his 16th year at Capital Stage, joining the company early in the second season. He brings to Capital Stage his varied experiences in the theatre, management, team building, counseling, training and corporate improvement. In his role as Managing Director he hopes to make Capital Stage a world class place to work, while playing an important role in the social justice efforts in our region.

Tony Gabrielson

Production & Company Manager
Tony joins Capital Stage this season as the Production and Company Manager. He has worked with many theaters and dance companies locally and around the country over the last 15 years, most recently Stage Managing SMART PEOPLE last season, here at Cap Stage. Favorite productions include: DISNEY'S BEAUTY AND THE BEAST with Barter Theater in Abingdon, VA, ON BORROWED TIME at Two River Theater in Red Bank, NJ, and developmental workshops of BOTTLESHOCK! THE MUSICAL. He is blessed and beyond grateful to continue working as an artist in our community. Love and thanks to Jessa and Piper - his favorite people.

Andreanna Diana Konomos*

Stage Manager
Andreanna is happy to be returning to Capital Stage for another show. She has had the pleasure of being the stage manager at Capital Stage on previous productions such as HOW TO USE A KNIFE and ADMISSIONS. Having a career in Sacramento for the past 25+ years, she has stage managed at Sacramento Theatre Company 15+ years, B Street for 5 years and Capital Stage for 3 years back on the boat days. She ran automation for Broadway Sacramento for 10+ years. During the day she works as an Instructional Assistant for the San Juan school district in elementary school. She is a proud Actors Equity Member 24+ years and an I.A.T.S.E. member for 17+ years.

Carlos Llontop

Technical Director
Having been a Technical Director for Folsom Lake College for many years as well as a Lead Technician at the Harris Center of the Arts, Carlos is excited to enter his second season with Capital Stage. Some of his favorite productions include SPRING AWAKENING, THE WHO'S TOMMY, HAIR, and MARAT/SADE. He wants to take a moment to thank his previous professors and mentors Ian Wallace, Rebecca Redmond, David Harris and Sam Coquerille. He would also like to thank his amazing team of apprentices for all their hard work and dedication. He is looking forward to making some magic and creating art with his fellow artists for time to come.

Martin Flynn

Scenic Designer
Martin is thrilled to be part of the team on this timely production. Martin is Professor of Technical Theater at Cosumnes River College, he has an MFA from UC Davis and a Bachelor of Architecture from Syracuse University. This marks his 140th set design. He'd like to thank his wife Angelique for putting up with the crazy hours and his constant need to draw something.

Tricia Tecson

Assistant Scenic Designer
Tricia is honored to be a part of this production of GLORIA at Capital Stage. Having just graduated with a Master’s in Architecture from the University of British Columbia she is ecstatic to be returning to the Theater Arts. She has previously worked locally with Music Circus, Teatro Nagual and is currently working on shows at Cosumnes River College. Tricia would like to thank Martin Flynn for his mentorship and guidance which has been immeasurable.

Pamela Gray

Lighting Designer
Pamila has been a working designer for thirty years, designing musicals, opera, plays, dance and industrials. Her designs have been seen in the San Francisco Bay area as well as Los Angeles, Sacramento, Portland, Houston, Dallas, Chicago, Minneapolis/St. Paul, Colorado Springs, Ft. Lauderdale, and Washington, DC. Her design work includes the World Premieres of PRIDE & PREJUDICE, MY ANTONIA, KEPT, BABY TAJ, the American Premiere of THE 3 MUSKETEERS, and the West Coast Premiere of SILENT NIGHT. Ms. Gray is a graduate of Northwestern University and a member of United Scenic Artists.

Rebecca A. Valentino

Costume Designer
Rebecca is delighted to return to Capital Stage where previous productions include THE WOLVES and THE GREAT LEAP! Rebecca has worked with many local companies including, The Aurora Theatre Company, 42nd Street Moon, Center REPertory Theatre and Solano College Theatre where she also served as the Costume Shop Supervisor from 2005-2012 and Adjunct professor of Costume and Theatre from 2007-2020. In addition she designed costumes for the Short Film Generations directed by Kourosh Ahari (The Night).She earned a BA from the University of California, Santa Cruz, and an MFA from the University of Michigan. Rebecca is currently the Costume Director for the Theatre and Dance Department at UC Davis.

Ed Lee

Sound Designer & Engineer
Ed is delighted to be part of another season at Capital Stage. He has been involved in almost every production since the company’s aquatic days at the Delta King, from artwork for SPEECH AND DEBATE to appearing in FIRST PERSON SHOOTER. Favorite sound design credits include: MASTER CLASS; SOMEONE TO WATCH OVER ME; 4000 MILES; MISTAKES WERE MADE; RAPTURE, BLISTER, BURN; and UNCANNY VALLEY.

Kimberly Taketa

Properties Designer
Kimberly is excited to return for another season at Capital Stage. She's an alumni of the Capital Stage Apprentice Program and returned the previous season to Prop Design LIFESPAN OF A DREAM and SMART PEOPLE. She is a graduate of Sac State and alumni of the Music Circus Intern Program, primarily as a Props Artisan. She has worked as a Props Master, Light and Scenic designer, and Stage Manager for over 20 productions. She is currently the Technical Director at The Fourth Wall. Notable productions being THE PRODUCERS, DIVINERS, LUNA GALE, MAJORIE PRIME, BARE: THE MUSICAL, and finally, her directorial debut of Team Starkid’s THE TRAIL TO OREGON at the Fourth Wall.

Matt K. Miller

Fight Director
Previously for Capital Stage, THE ROYALE, THE GREAT LEAP, PASS OVER, SWEAT, AN OCTOROON, THE THANKSGIVING PLAY, BAD JEWS, DISGRACED and IDEATION; for B Street Theatre, THE JACKSONIAN and EQUIVOCATION; for Sacramento Theatre Company, THE CRUCIBLE, MAN OF LA MANCHA, THE GRAPES OF WRATH and DIAL M FOR MURDER; and Sierra Repertory Theatre’s MACBETH. Internationally, Matt has staged combat for the world premieres of Timberlake Werternbaker’s OUR AJAX and Judith Thompson’s ELEKTRA IN BOSNIA, both produced in Greece. Corey D. Winfield

Hair & Makeup Designer
Corey is a performer and theatrical technician who has worked in the entertainment industry for 30+ years. Having worked in stage, film, and television, he has had the privilege to put his work before local, US, and international audiences. Locally you may have noticed his technical work in shows like HAIRSPRAY as Hair/Wig Designer, WEST SIDE STORY as Co-Director/Choreographer, and THE ADDAMS FAMILY as Costumes/Make-up/Hair. You may also have seen him perform in ANGELS IN AMERICA as Belize, ANNIE as Oliver Warbucks, SEUSSICAL as Sour Kangaroo, THE PRODUCERS as Roger DuBris, Bob Irvin’s SHREW! as Vincentio, and THE ROCKY HORROR SHOW as Dr. FrankNFurter.

Samantha McLean Haas

Scenic Charge Artist
Samantha has been painting sets for over a decade in the greater Sacramento area. She's worked at Sacramento City College, University of California Davis, Sacramento Theatre Company, B Street, and Broadway at Music Circus. This is her third season with Capital Stage.

K. Kevyne Baar

Dramaturg
Kevyne is thrilled to be joining Capital Stage’s GLORIA company as its Dramaturg. A member of Viola Spolin’s Young Actors’ Company who became an Equity Stage Manager, and then the Field Representative for Actors’ Equity’s Western Regional Office, she returned to school in 2001 to work on a PhD. This led to her being Equity’s archivist at the Tamiment Library/Robert F. Wagner Labor Archives at New York University. Kevyne moved from Brooklyn, NY to Davis, CA in 2015, and in 2019 her book, "Broadway and the Blacklist" was published.

Lana Dallmann^

Production Assistant
Lana Dallmann is excited to be working with Capital Stage for the first time. Prior to her work at Capital Stage she has studied as a playwriting student at Drexel University. She is honored to work with such a welcoming team of crew and actors to put on a wonderful show.
