This compelling drama by Reed McColm is the story of people in the North Tower of the World Trade Center in New York City on the morning of September 11, 2001, above the point of impact. It takes place in the tower and within the minds and memories of the characters therein.

About the Playwright

Reed McColm, now based in his homeland of Canada, lived in Spokane for several years and was here at the time he wrote Hole in the Sky. He was Artistic Director for Interplayers Theatre and has a Master’s Degree in Professional Writing from the University of Southern California. He wrote for many television series while living in LA in the 80s & 90s, including Star Trek: The Next Generation, Growing Pains, Wings, Sister Kate, Dear John, Just the Ten of Us, and others. An award-winning playwright, his first play was Together Again for the First Time, a domestic comedy/drama subtitled “A Family in Two Acts.” It made its professional debut in Spokane at Actor's Repertory Theatre starring his dear friend Patty Duke. Reed produced and co-authored the 2008 screen adaptation, starring Julia Duffy and David Ogden Stiers. Stage Left is thrilled to bring Hole in the Sky to life on this important anniversary.

Paul J Watts

Damota/Police Chief
Paul J Watts - Damota/Police Chief

Paul J Watts has been a thorn in the side of Stage Left Theater, both on stage and behind the scenes, getting in the way of performances by adding scenic painting, sound, and light cues for both festivals and season productions since 2017 when Texas ran him out of town. Having pestered the Lone Star State with everything from Stage, Screen, TV performances, photography, makeup, and playwriting, they finally had enough. Now he’s Spokane’s problem.

His past acting roles as Fred from Civic Theatre’s Present Laughter and Odysseus in Stage Left’s Hecuba were particularly dangerous. Paul has been the Sound Technician for all of Stage Left’s streamed events this past year. Social distancing around him is advised or you may lose a finger.

Russell Webster

She has worked as an actress, director, costumer, make-up artist, accountant, producer, and director throughout the region. She serves on several boards and committees in the film industry, works as a Living History actor, and has brought to life over 90 audiobooks. This is Rebecca’s 4th year producing original play festivals for Stage Left. She is very grateful for her journey creating a life in the arts.
