Director's Note:

Thank you for coming to this production of I and You!  This is a play that I fell in love with when I first read it way back in 2016.  I found it profoundly beautiful in its creation of ultimate high-stakes conflict.  An examination of incendiary elements that are thrown together, the results of which are unknown!  More than that, this play contains a very unlikely event: two teenagers actually TALK to each other! How lovely that we get to witness the evolution of a relationship that contains the multitudes of face-to-face communication?  While we can't fully ignore the cyber world and the technology of today, we must do as Anthony does and intentionally engage each other.  Maybe, just maybe, on the other side of this engagement is a kind of unity that we only dream of.   I don't need to tell you that today's world is divisive. Division is easy today.  We can hide behind the shield of our Instagram handles and only show the parts of us we choose to show the world.  This play invites us to see what happens when we allow others fully into our weird little worlds warts and all.  I am proud of the work of the young people involved in this production.  I am in awe of their ability to connect with each other and with you.  It is my hope that you let them in, and for the 90-100 minutes of the show, create a unity that we dream the world to find.
