A Note from our Writers..

When the two of us decided to write a musical about an alien invasion, we knew we wanted it to be more than just the same. We wanted to tell a story marrying sci-fi, sincerity, and silliness.

Enter Lotus Land, the most magical place on earth! We hope you'll fall in love with it as much as we have.

So sit back, relax, open up your mind, and enjoy the ride. You'll never want to leave...

Meet the Company

Freya Cowan

Sola/ Amy
Freya is a Classics student at the University of Cambridge, who devotes most of her spare time to musical theatre. Freya has recently performed as Mimi in A New Brain (Corpus Playroom), and Yvonne/Naomi in Sunday in the Park with George (ADC Theatre). She is very excited to perform in London, her hometown, and to bring the fabulous character of Sola to life!

Jamie Ellis

Johnny Fox
Jamie is a third-year music student from Robinson College Cambridge returning to Camden Fringe after performing in a previous student-written work last year. He enjoys long walks down stage-left and writing bios in third person. Outside London, Jamie has performed in a range of musical theatre, From Johnathan Larson’s RENT to the Footlight’s Pantomime: Treasure Island. INVASION! is an alien fuelled theme-park romp, and heaps of fun; Jamie hopes that you enjoy it and don’t notice his incorrect use of a semi-colon.

Nathan Galpin

Brian/ Briggsy
Nathan graduated from the University of Cambridge over two years ago and started doing a 'traditional office job'. However, this has not stopped him in his ardent pursuit of all things theatre - most recently making his way to Cheltenham for some semi-improvised Shakespeare. He is very excited to return to musical theatre for 'INVASION!' and can't wait to play a character who in no way resembles his actual self.

Iona Rogan

Sally/ Linda/ Polly/ Rosie
Iona is an actor, theatremaker, and all-round balm for the soul from the North West currently saving for a drama school Master’s and an inevitable London move; ‘Invasion!’ marks her Big Smoke debut! Iona’s rider consists of being manhandled by puppets and being made to feel unwelcome in her own skin; doing it through song is the icing on the cake. Whilst at Cambridge Iona was the Actors’ Rep for the CUADC and President of the Heywood Society, on top of taking part in over 26 productions.

Gregory Miller

Jack/ Jim/ Baker
Gregory is a recent graduate from the University of Cambridge, who is now scrounging about for anything that pays. However, in the midst of this panic and excitement, he is more than chuffed to be playing a malignant head in 'INVASION'!

Kate South

Hackett/ PC Plod
Kate is going into her 3rd year studying Music at Trinity College, Cambridge. She has been heavily involved in the theatre scene at Cambridge, most recently performing as Elle in La Voix Humaine. She is thrilled to have had the opportunity to bring INVASION! to life with such a talented cast and crew, and hopes the audience enjoy this wonderful, whacky and heartfelt adventure.

Lily Blundell

Composer/ Musical Director
Lily is a music student at the University of Cambridge, as well as an award nominated composer, musical director and sound designer. She's delighted to be bringing her second show at the Camden Fringe to life, but hopes the aliens don't find out about it and come for her too... Previous credits include: Writer/Composer, The Man Who Wouldn't Be Murdered, Lion & Unicorn Theatre, August 2022 Musical Director, Chess, ADC Theatre, November 2022 Writer/Performer, Sick of It, Corpus Playroom Cambridge, May 2023

Charlotte Dargan

Producer/ Choreographer
Charlotte has just completed her studies in geography at the University of Cambridge. She is most likely to be found colour-coding her spreadsheets or coming up with crazy hat choreography. As the outgoing 2022-23 President of the Cambridge University Musical Theatre Society (CUMTS) she loves all things musicals and can’t wait to bring this invasion to life!

Niamh Howat

Production Designer
Niamh is small and generally quite confused. Apparently, she is going into her third year studying History at the University of Cambridge, though you wouldn't be able to tell. She is also the current President of the Cambridge Footlights, though you wouldn't be able to tell that either. As an avid fan of theme parks, sci-fi, musicals, and puppets, working on 'INVASION!' has been an absolute blast! Just remember: don't feed after midnight.

Jonathan Powell

Writer (Book and Lyrics)/ Director
Since Jon graduated last year he has been busy making audio dramas for the BBC, but is thrilled to be leaping back from radio to theatre. He loves all things musicals and sci-fi, so hopes audiences enjoy the fusion of the two he’s been cooking up.

Jasper Robin

Writer (Book and Lyrics)/ Director
Jasper is a writer/director across theatre, film, and radio. He recently graduated from the University of Cambridge, where he worked on over fifty student theatre productions, served on far-too-many society committees, and somehow managed to make his dissertations for Politics and History degrees about Doctor Who and Apocalypse movies. As the 'dad friend' of the group, Jasper can most commonly be found snoozing or complaining about 'kids these days', but nevertheless, he is very excited for INVASION! to come to life on the big screen (by big screen, he means small black box theatre.)

Wonderful, especially all the costume usage and quick scene changes If the performers aren’t going to be miced (they don’t need to be they can project well) then music played over speakers should likely be turned down. Especially during softer moments in the show Absolutely love it
Dylan Evans
Really fantastic. Thoroughly enjoyed it and the very surprising plot twists.
Faye De Souza
A fun loving comedy with moments of real emotional sincerity. A show I will not forget!
PAZ DAVDA
The performers had tremendous energy and great voices. We were also really impressed by the solo keyboard player who formed the backbone to this fun, unique and whacky musical performance. I was intrigued by the humorous political and social satire which felt very meaningful and clever in the context of today's modern society. The only point for consideration is some of the quieter (but fantastic) singers could benefit from either a microphone or lower volume of music so that we can consistently hear all of the funny lyrics. Thanks for a wonderful evening

A riot- hold your hats and horses for this one :))
Connor
Great!! Particularly Nathan! But rest also great!
Abby

Great use of props and staging, music was 10/10 - it was out of this world!

The show was absolutely amazing and all the actors/actresses were incredibly talented and an absolute joy to watch!!! I applaud everyone involved and wish them immense good luck and future success!

What a great website to match a great show. It definitely was not more of the same! A show I have struggled to describe to people only because I don’t want to leave anything out. I had a really great time and you’ve succeeded in creating a truly original musical, reflecting on our time — if not in a strange way! I can’t wait to see what they do next. (I hope you can get a good pull quote from this xx)
Tom
A brilliant marriage of the sublime and the ridiculous — with the music, props, and voices to match! Really enjoyed it!
Edward
Really funny and enjoyable!
Jamie Toms
Incredible production. Fantastic soundtrack. Amazing acting. Nathan Galpin was a standout gem in the cast.
Keith Cowan
Fabulous show, everyone was brilliant. Particularly scary performance from the prime minister channelling Maggie Thatcher!

Expectation has been surpassed by some amazing actors and singers. Shout to the musici, awesome and didn’t interfere with the show. Some voices and projections were exquisite and this show needs a wider audience. I think it could do with taking a lot further including merchandise
Thomas Field
I had a fantastic time watching Invasion. The show was full of warmth and heart and the script, physical comedy (there was some really clever staging) and songs made for a really great watch. There were some relevant themes as well. Performances were excellent across the board, the music was brilliantly written and the combination of live keyboard and pre-recorded backing tracks was really nice. I really liked the prop design as well! Thanks for a great night at the theatre!
