Bonjour!!!!!

Welcome to the WORLD PREMIERE of Once Upon a Time In France. First ever theatrical co-production by Terrace Studios, LLC and BrothaAbe Films. The play explores a millennial foodie, Jocelyn who's on a solo trip to Paris, France to eat as much food as she can, but nothing too fancy! The adventure runs into a familiar face that'll sabotage their identity. The question is can their identity still be kept a secret or will it be exposed?

Phillip Arthur Dixon's first ever play; first-ever produced by a new production company I'm humbled and honor to bring his piece to life by not only my guidance as the director, but the cast and crew who have worked to the bones to tell this incredible laugh out loud story that'll see the light of day on the long run.

Terrace Studios, LLC is an organization for theatre, film, and television in bringing original works to life provided by yours truly and/or a local artist in KC; nationwide in the future. Right now, what you're about to witness is pure art from scratch. I'm so proud of this team I'm blowing my nose with a croissant. It's hard to express my words for this team. I'm truly grateful and blessed this play gets to be seen in front of a live audience at the best venue that makes sense for this play.

Thank you, Haidi Van, for opening her venue for my team.

My understudies owning their crafts and rooting for their castmates.

Lindsey Edwards as my intimacy coordinator.

Brioni Garvin as my Props and costume assistant.

It takes a village to put on a show! Having my team committed to try new those, exploring their abilities as creators have inspired me to do the same!!!

We are bridging the gap!

God Bless you! Enjoy the Show!

Merci!

Phillip Arthur Dixon

Playwright & Co-Producer
Phillip Arthur Dixon - Playwright & Co-Producer Phillip Arthur Dixon was raised in the Kansas City metropolitan area. He would receive his bachelors degree from Fisk University and his masters degree from the University of Kansas. Both degrees in the subject of African-American history. He would go on to become a professor at Kansas City, Kansas, Community College, as well as a film writer, director and producer. Phillip has now decided to dip his toe into the world of theater. He is a passionate writer and has ideas of many stories that he would like the world to see. Not all stories are told best through film and many in the theater community know that as well. Once Upon a Time in France is a story about Jim Morrison. What if Jim Morrison would have faked his death and hid out in the outskirts of France. What if, a millennial foodie were to discover Jim Morrison. Could she keep the secret or would she expose him for the world to see? Phillip is an avid music listener and has a love for history as well. Sometimes the greatest stories are ones that are brought up through conversations with friends on Friday nights. Some of those stories stay between our ears, but some need to be shown to the world to educate and entertain.

Aalayah Norwood

Assistant Director

Nathan Wyman

Stage Designer
Nathan Wyman - Stage Designer Nathan Wyman is Professor of Theatre and the Producing Director of Jewell Theatre Company. He has also been technical director and stage designer since 1998, creating designs for over fifty productions at the College. He received the MFA (Master of Fine Arts) in Scenery Design and Technology from Northern Illinois University. Professional design work includes the recent premiere of Novel by Ryan Bernsten at The Arts Asylum this past January, The Foreigner (Firefly Events Center), We Are Blood & The Curious Savage (OCTA: Olathe Civic Theatre Association), The Laramie Project & Torch Song Trilogy (at The Arts Asylum), and he provided the stage setting for Glamorous Night: The Music of Ivor Novello at the National World War I Museum. For his 2010 sabbatical, he worked with Running With Scissors Theatre Company in Hertfordshire, England, on Darkness Falls & The Monkey’s Paw. He recently joined the staff of the 2025 KC Fringe Festival as the Production Manager/Technical Director where he will supervise technicians at 10 different performance venues in KC for the two-week festival this July. He is grateful for the unending support of his partner Julianne Donovan.

Venus Leung

Costume Designer
Venus Leung - Costume Designer This is Venus' fifth year working as a stylist, with most of her experience rooted in film. She had the opportunity to style for a range of projects, including the feature film Midwest Skidmark by Phillip Dixon, as well as several short films such as Sasporumpet by Brydie O'Connor and Jo Ellen Pellman, Interrogator by Evan Hoon, and the upcoming In Plain Sight by Thomas Rex, set to premiere at local film festivals. While screen work has been her main focus, stepping into the world of theatre with Once Upon a Time in France has been an exciting and refreshing challenge. Designing for stage is a very different process—bigger gestures, quicker reads, and a closer relationship between costume and performance. It’s pushed me creatively in all the best ways. Being part of Once Upon a Time in France has been a joy, and I’m incredibly thankful to the team for the opportunity to explore this new space. I’ve had so much fun throughout the process and am proud to contribute to bringing this story to life on stage.
