Director’s Message
Greetings!
I am so excited to bring RCMPI’s Youth Show back to the stage after four long years! Our company and our community is overflowing with talent, and it was high time we showcase these amazing children. As Ana Maria and I discussed what show we wanted for this return, it was our love of children’s free spirits and imagination that we wanted to capture and highlight. "Peter Pan Jr." seemed like the perfect choice.
The story of Peter Pan examines the space between childhood and becoming an adult, along with the difficult choices that come as we leave the world of imagination to enter one of responsibility. By highlighting childhood in action, the show celebrates children for what they are, and the ways they grapple with reality through play. These themes inspired us every day through this process as we celebrate the children of Guelph, and give them the opportunity to represent themselves on stage. Above all, though, we wanted to anchor every scene and song in the nostalgic feeling of play.
To my amazing cast and crew: I am so unbelievably proud of the show we have created. Thank you all for joining me on this crazy adventure. Given the chance, I would do it again a million times.
To our audiences: as you watch "Peter Pan Jr.," I hope you reminisce about what it feels like to be a child, and let yourself get lost with us in Neverland, even if we never actually travel outside these four walls.
Milwaukee Baker
Director and Choreographer, "Peter Pan Jr."
