Producer’s Note:
As a drama teacher, there is no greater pleasure than to unleash the entire spectrum of creativity inherent in Theatre Arts. In this performance, you will hear the themes important to our young students, and the voice of the student playwright. You see the vision of the student director and the results of their leadership. Students have collaborated to create and gather set, props, and costumes.
We were one of only a handful of schools to be awarded the Playwriting Intensive opportunity from NHSI of Northwestern University. We are so grateful to Marcus Folmar for providing inspiration and four weeks of playwriting instruction to our Intermediate/Advanced students.
Each student wrote a one-act play. The six shows you will see tonight were selected from the plays that each student wrote in class. Our students are invited to attend the NHSI summer high school outreach in playwriting!

Director’s Note:
Angels in a Train Station follows the meeting of two best friends, the angels Og and Enoch, in Grand Central Station on a Tuesday as they bicker over the lives of the station occupants. When writing this play, I was inspired thematically by Kevin Smith’s Dogma. However, I cannot say that I wasn’t greatly impacted by these past two years of solitude, and the feeling that we have not returned to our lives as the same people who we were on March 13th, 2020. I am eternally grateful for my brilliant cast, who stuck with me through rehearsals in the drama room as well as the muddy meadow and transformed the characters I created on paper into real people.
