A Note from your Magical Directors...
Failure.
We've all been there. Those moments when you’ve locked yourself out of the house, or can’t remember where you left your glasses only to find them on top of your head. Or on those days you feel like you just aren’t… enough.
But learning from mistakes is how we learn, and eventually, you get better. We try, and we try, and we try some more, and in the end we get somewhere we never thought we could. If it is our choices that define us, not our abilities, then we have the ability to grow and change as learn from our mistakes.
None of us has a talking hat that magically tells us who we are, or what we’re going to become. It takes time, and there are always mistakes along the way. We chose this show because we wanted to show the experience of growing up and learning who you are. Of learning that none of us are only one thing, be it smart, or brave, or… snake?
This year has presented many challenges, many successes, many setbacks, and many failures. Since starting in August, we have switched to virtual rehearsals and postponed the show twice, but this is a show about a group of kids who don’t stop trying, no matter what obstacles get in their way. It turned out to be a much more apt message than we had intended, and what you see onstage is the result of an entire school year’s worth of hard work and effort from the Badger House known for it’s perseverance and dedication.
This was a new year, with new kids, new buildings, new challenges. We expanded our program to include three buildings and two new grade levels. So, in true FC Junior Thespian fashion, we decided to pick the most complex and ambitious show we’ve attempted to date. And as always, our kids rose to the challenge and made something amazing.
Of course, there will always be some mistakes. But at the end of the day, this is a school, and there is no learning without failure. And we could not possibly be more proud of our Puffs and their continuous abilities to turn those setbacks into something truly... magical.
