Message From Hollister High School's Theatre Teacher and School of Rock’s Director:

Welcome, and thank you for joining us for Hollister High School’s production of School of Rock The Musical by Andrew Lloyd Webber, Glenn Slater, and Julian Fellowes. My name is Aislinn Barnes, and I have the honor of serving as the teacher of the Hollister High School Theatre Program. As a first-year teacher, and a proud graduate of this very program, it is a privilege to return to the stage where I first discovered my love for theatre education. After earning my degree from California State University, Los Angeles this past May, I am deeply grateful to now use my education to help rebuild and reinvigorate a program that helped shape who I am.

School of Rock is the first full-length production I have directed. The idea to choose this specific show for our school came to me in March of 2025; before I had received the job offer for this position. This show is about students feeling seen for the first time in their lives by a teacher who believes in them. And through his guidance, they are able to find a passion for creativity and reignite their own self-confidence. It is such a beautiful story with a contemporary soundtrack that I believe all ages can enjoy. I am so thankful that Hollister High School was supportive of this idea and that my creative team (Jula Prak (Vocal Director), Sherlyn Rodriguez (Choreographer), and Cam Burchard (Choreographer)) believed in this show as much as I did.

As a team, we had many goals! To have a live orchestra, an ambitious set, incredible vocals, dances full of technique and formations, and to have students play instruments on stage! And oh my goodness, did we accomplish those goals! But above all of those performance details you get to enjoy tonight, there is something we valued more: our cast learning and loving theatre. Theatre is a huge commitment of time, energy, and focus. We started on day one with setting high expectations for our cast, never to scare them or discourage them, but to motivate them to go above and beyond in all that they do. Our cast showed up, put in the work, and created something amazing. While we provided the direction, their dedication, respect, and drive is what made this production a success. We all agree: we could not have asked for a better cast, and we are beyond proud of everything these actors have done.

I would also like to extend my deepest gratitude to the parents and families who support their students and this department. Your encouragement is what keeps our program alive, thriving, and full of possibility. I also want to thank our administrators for their support of my role and the vision of this program. Thank you for entrusting me with this responsibility and for believing in the value of theatre education.

Thank you all for being here, for uplifting this program, and for celebrating these incredible actors. Please sit back, relax, and enjoy the show!

Rock On!

Ms. Aislinn Barnes, Drama Teacher, Hollister High School

Andrew Lloyd Webber

Author
Andrew Lloyd Webber - Author Andrew Lloyd Webber has composed the scores of some of the world’s most famous musicals. His shows have run continuously in London’s West End for 50 years and ran for 43 uninterrupted years on Broadway. When the original Sunset Boulevard joined School of Rock, CATS and The Phantom of the Opera, he equalled Rodgers & Hammerstein’s record of four shows running simultaneously on Broadway. He is one of the select group of artists with EGOT status, having received Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony Awards. Lloyd Webber owns six London theatres, including the iconic London Palladium and Theatre Royal Drury Lane. Reopened in July 2021, the latter was completely restored and renovated at a cost of over £60 million. This was one of the biggest projects ever undertaken by a private theatre owner in recent times. His mantra is that every penny of profit made from his theatres is ploughed back into the buildings for their conservation and development. Lloyd Webber is passionate about the importance of musical education and diversity in the arts. Andrew Lloyd Webber Foundation provides 30 performing arts scholarships every year for talented students with financial need, and supports a range of projects such as the Music In Secondary Schools Trust (MiSST). In academic year September 2025-26, 14,885 children are being given free musical tuition and instruments as part of MiSST’s Andrew Lloyd Webber Programme. The Foundation also commissions research into diversity in theatre. Andrew Lloyd Webber has composed music for globally significant moments. Most recently, he was asked to compose “Make a Joyful Noise,” the anthem for the Coronation of King Charles III. Andrew Lloyd Webber was knighted in 1992, created an honorary life peer in 1997, and made a Knight Companion of the Most Noble Order of the Garter by King Charles III in 2024. He is the only person in the arts ever granted this personal honor by a monarch. Photo: John Swannell

Theater Life Award

A massive round of applause to the latest recipient of the Theatre Life Award for their work in School of Rock!

Established in 2022, the Theatre Life Award was created to honor the student who embodies the true heart of the Hollister High School Drama department. It isn't just about who has the loudest voice or the most stage time; it’s about the student who goes above and beyond, the one who shows up early, stays late, does the things that the creative team and actors resonate with, and elevates the entire cast through their leadership and passion.

In a production as high-energy as School of Rock, that "extra mile" is what keeps the show on its feet. This year’s winner didn't just play a role; they lived the "theatre life," proving that "sticking it to the man" requires just as much discipline as it does rock-and-roll spirit.

Congratulations to Gael Barba-Solis
