DIRECTOR'S NOTE
A friend of mine once asked me what I thought Shrek was about. The answer was simple: Love, and the journey one takes to learn how to do that. As the story begins, we meet Young Shrek and Young Fiona, both sent off to lives of lonely isolation. To them, the Big Bright Beautiful World is something they will never be a part of, with Shrek in his swamp and Fiona locked in her tower. But Fate, as is often the case, has other plans for them. Farquaad inadvertently sets things in motion by way of his cruelty, Donkey brings in some delightful chaos, Dragon shows us love can happen in the most unexpected places, and that Beautiful World and the Fairy Tales Creatures teach us to always let out Freak Flag Fly. By the end of the show, they both realize it is indeed a Big, Bright Beautiful World, and we all fit in it, whether we are a Princess, an Ogre, a Donkey or a Dragon. We are us, and we are you, and always stronger when we let love in, and pass it on.

Part grandma, part menace, all drama. By day: Teddy is your average Conifer High School student. By night: he’s the most fashion-forward predator in Far Far Away. Rocking a nightgown better than Rita Hayworth and delivering dialog sharper than his teeth. This will be Teddy’s 15th production at StageDoor including a triumphant role as the Wizard the Oz in a recent elementary school production (long story), Vlad Popov in Anastasia, and Chef Louis in The Little Mermaid. Warning: this Big Bad Wolf isn’t here to huff and puff – he’s here to steal the show.
