Meet the Company
Natalie D. Garcia
Natalie is honored to be working with the Street Corner Arts gang for the third time! She is originally from Chicago, where she worked as an actor, writer, and producer before moving to Austin in 2016. You may have seen her in SCA's recent digital production of THE SPIN, nominated for Best Performer - Digital Live or in SCA’s last live production, as Midge in THE BUTCHER OF BARABOO, for which she won a B. Iden Payne Award for Best Actress in a Comedy, or around town pre-COVID times as Fefu in FEFU AND HER FRIENDS (Filigree), Lise in THE MAGIC FIRE (Different Stages), Vanessa in SIGNIFICANT OTHER (Jarrott Productions) , or as part of the ensemble in SELF PORTRAITS (Bottle Alley Theatre). She resides in East Austin with her amazing husband Carlo (yes, that Carlo) and their adorable pup dogs Karate and DeeDee. She would like to thank her mom and dad for always supporting her in her artistic endeavors!
Carlo Lorenzo Garcia
Carlo Lorenzo Garcia is an actor/director/writer/designer who previously performed with Street Corner Arts in POCATELLO & JUNK and directed THE BUTCHER OF BARABOO, winner of 6 B. Iden Payne Awards. Most recently, he wrote and performed A PORTRAIT OF MY MOTHER with Jarrott Productions, nominated for 5 B. Iden Payne Awards and winner of Outstanding Lead Performer - Digital Live. Other acting credits include work with Goodman Theatre, Mary-Arrchie Theatre Co., Strawdog Theatre Company, Shrewd Productions, Walkabout Theater Company at Lookingglass, Vineyard Arts Project and more. Film work includes Empire, Chicago P.D., and more. Carlo is a company of Street Corner Arts, Jarrott Productions, and an artistic associate with Teatro Vista. He would like to thank his partner, Natalie for inspiring him everyday. A. Skola Summers
Skola is an artist and educator. She is a founding Artistic Director of Street Corner Arts (SCA) and a company member at Hyde Park Theatre (HPT). Hailing from the cornfields of Iowa, she currently lives and creates in ATX along with her husband Benjamin and their two suns, Emmett and Silas.
Ashton Bennett Murphy
Ashton Bennett Murphy is a projection designer, scenic painter, and technician living in Austin, Texas. She received her BA in Theatre and Dance from the University of Texas at Austin in 2018, and has since been working full time at Texas Performing Arts as a Project Specialist and Lecturer in the College of Fine Arts at UT. Murphy freelances around Austin as a Stage Manager, Painter, and Designer, and has thoroughly enjoyed working on this show with Street Corner Arts. Shelby Gebhart
Shelby is a lighting designer and master electrician who has worked in countless theatres/event venues across both Austin and Houston, and is thrilled to be returning to Street Corner Arts. She studied technical theatre at Southwestern University and has been the resident lighting designer with ONE Academy of Dance for the last seven years. Recent design credits include GISELLE (ONE Academy of Dance), THE FUTURE OF ISMAEL (GenEnCo), and BULL (Street Corner Arts). Crew highlights include two seasons with The Alley Theatre, SUPERBOWL LI, Tal Lostracco's Theatre Camp, and THE DAILY SHOW. Most of her time is spent programming, whether it be a lighting cue or a decidedly less entertaining computer project for her day job.
Will Gibson Douglas
Will is an Austin-based actor and director who has lived in the city since 2010. His relationship with Jarrott Productions started in 2018, when he starred as Jordan in their production of Joshua Harmon's Significant Other, for which he was nominated for B. Iden Payne and Austin Critics Table awards. He has worked on numerous other Jarrott Productions shows since, first as a production assistant and then as House Manager/Volunteer Coordinator and is a company member. He is also a company member at The VORTEX, where he most recently directed the "Cyclops" segment of The VORTEX Odyssey and has appeared in Click (Chaz) and The Tempest (Stephano). He frequently appears in Different Stages productions such as The Book Club Play, Great Expectations, Yankee Tavern, 4000 Miles, and Dracula. Other acting credits include: Ground Floor Theatre's world premiere of Dex & Abby, Heartland Theatre Collective's The Vineyard, Capital T Theatre's DNA and many more. In his free time he enjoys taking care of other people's pets and is the proud co-owner of two terriers, Bandito and Daisy.
Jason Graf
Jason is an actor, editor, producer, and writer based in Austin, TX. He was most recently seen in SCA’s digital production of THE SPIN as Paul McGuire and Ground Floor Theatre’s production of DEX AND ABBEY as Dex. Jason was recently nominated for an B Iden Payne Award for Outstanding Editing of A PORTRAIT OF MY MOTHER by Jarrot Productions. He would like to thank his amazing family, Abbey and Charles, for their continued love and support.
Joshua Hanson
Joshua Hanson is a musician, actor, and comedian based in Chicago, IL. He has studied with The Second City Training Center (Conservatory, Comedy Writing and Music Directors Programs), iO (formally Improv Olympic), and Annoyance Productions. Kasia Januszewski
Kasia is an actor, writer, and marketing director currently based in Chicago, IL. In the "before times," she appeared in many award-winning plays, films, and national commercials. She has also provided several voice-overs for radio, TV, and web. Jose Lozano
Jose is the Creative Director of Magic Spoon Productions, a video production company based in Austin, TX. For the last ten years, he has worked with the Austin theater community to capture performances for feature releases, archival documentation and promotional purposes. With passions rooted in story-telling, he has worked with creative talent, artists, musicians, and both commercial and non-profit organizations to produce visual works that inform, educate, and inspire. | www.magicspoonproductions.com
Mike Ooi
Mike is delighted to be back working with Street Corner Arts for a second time, after working on SCA's virtual production of THE SPIN. Austinites may have seen Mike in GUYS & DOLLS (Zilker Park), THE BREMEN TOWN MUSICIANS (Second Youth), numerous productions with the Austin Commedia Society, or an improv jam at ColdTowne. In Chicago, Mike worked as an actor with many companies including The Factory Theater, Lifeline Theatre, AdventureStage, Strawdog, and The House Theatre. Two of Mike’s plays were produced in Chicago - DATING & DRAGONS (Factory Theater) and CAPT STEVE’S CARING KINGDOM (Factory Theater). TV credits include CHICAGO FIRE (NBC). He is represented by Pastorini-Bosby.
Benjamin Summers
Benjamin is a founding Producing Artistic Director of Street Corner Arts (SCA) and a company member at Hyde Park Theatre (HPT) and Austin Playhouse (AP). Benjamin received his B.A. in Theatre from Davidson College. Favorite credits include John in THE REALISTIC JONESES (HPT), Will in A BRIGHT NEW BOISE (HPT), Dorante in THE LIAR (AP), John in TRAGEDY: A TRAGEDY (HPT), John Honeyman in A WALK IN THE WOODS (SCA), Doug in GRUESOME PLAYGROUND INJURIES (SCA), John Dodge in MIDDLETOWN (HPT), Paul Verrall in BORN YESTERDAY (AP), Richard Hannay in THE 39 STEPS (AP), George Bailey in IT’S A WONDERFUL LIFE (AP), Valene in THE LONESOME WEST (HPT), and the title character in HAMLET (No Holds Bard). Directing credits include GROUNDED, POCATELLO (Austin Critics’ Table and B. Iden Payne nomination for Best Director), BULL, THE ALTRUISTS and WAITING FOR LEFTY (B. Iden Payne nomination for Best Director) all with SCA. When not on the stage, he teaches math at Gorzycki Middle School and is a devoted husband to Skola and father to little Emmett and Silas.
Jeremy Brown
Jeremy is Associate Producing Director with Street Corner Arts and has been working as an actor and at all points in between with many great companies throughout his career including: Opera Theatre of St. Louis. National Theatre of the Performing Arts; NYC. The Lyceum Theatre; London. Steppenwolf Theatre Company, Dolphinback Theatre Co, Bravo Room Productions; Chicago. Austin Lyric Opera, The Paramount & State Theatres, Street Corner Arts, Whirligig Productions; Austin. Co-founder of Push/Pull Theatre Co, Theatre J; Washington, DC. Recent acting credits include Troy in POCATELLO (Street Corner Arts), Will in THE RED HAND GUITAR (Arena Stage), Paul Bonin in A LESSON BEFORE DYING (Round House Theatre), Buck Naked in INSURRECTION, HOLDING HISTORY (Theatre Alliance), Bloody Sergeant/Young Siward in MACBETH Directed by Aaron Posner & Teller (Folger Theatre), Trinculo in THE TEMPEST (Keegan Theatre). He can most recently be seen in the award winning documentary film, TOWER directed by Keith Maitland.
Rommel Sulit
Rommel is a film and stage actor, producer and architect. Recent film and theatrical credits include the Producer in THE AUDIENCE (paper chairs), Aristophanes in THE AFTERPARTY (Shrewd Productions), Hector of Troy in FIXING TROILUS AND CRESSIDA (Rude Mechs), King Henry IV in HENRY IV (Hidden Room Theatre) and Dr. Toby Sealey in THE EFFECT (Capital T Theatre). As SCA’s Associate Artistic Director, he co-produced POCATELLO and GROUNDED, recipients of Austin Critics’ Table and B. Iden Payne awards, and most recently WE ARE PROUD TO PRESENT ... He trained at the School at Steppenwolf, is a co-founder of Street Corner Arts and Forge Craft, an architecture firm dedicated to designing innovative spaces for live, work and creative play. He has been nominated for and received Austin Critics Table and B. Iden Payne awards and serves as a board member with the Austin Creative Alliance. We are a small professional theatre company in Austin, TX producing award-winning, high quality, relevant and engaging theatre.
The play is the thing. Our focus begins with writers and scripts that have clear vision and crisp, intelligent dialogue. From there, we make acting the focal point of the process by hiring some of Austin’s best and brightest professional actors, pairing them with some of the best directors and designers, allowing them all the opportunity to help shape the production through our collaborative process.
We seek to engage our audience in a conversation about current topics through our productions with the goal of enriching and strengthening our community by the performance of theatre.
