Directors Note:

Our version of SubUrbia will be recognizable to the disillusioned young adults of 90s America, as well as today’s rising generation Z.  The characters grapple with the overwhelming choices and opportunities that the American Dream has to offer. Some respond with apathy, other with action. They teach us that even when the world feels like it’s crumbling, it’s important to do something. Anything.

From the Artistic Director Anthony Marino:

Welcome to brooklynONE productions' rendition of Eric Bogosian's "SubUrbia"! As the co-founder and artistic director, I am thrilled to have you with us tonight, embarking on this journey through a seminal piece of American theatre.

"SubUrbia" delves into themes of youth, rage, love, addiction, and detachment, resonating in a harshly relatable modern context. It's a profound exploration of the human experience that continues to captivate audiences.

I'm particularly proud of Mitch and his team for their dedication in bringing this production to life. Having once portrayed Buff in a production at Wagner College, this play holds a special place in my heart. Its relevance and poignancy remain undiminished.

At brooklynONE, we strive to present works that challenge and provoke thought. "SubUrbia" has been on our list of works to produce for quite some time, and tonight, we're ecstatic to share our rendition with you.

So, sit back, relax, and immerse yourself in the world of "SubUrbia." Thank you for joining us on this artistic voyage. Enjoy the show!
