Cockpit in Court Summer Theatre is celebrating our 50^th Anniversary this year!

Fifty years of Cockpit adds up to more than 120 musicals produced, more than 100 plays, over 35 Court Jesters productions, and 25 classics in the courtyard! (Remember those?) Over fifty years of Cockpit, more than 5,000 of our friends have played roles on these stages, designed sets and lights and costumes, directed and choreographed and played in the orchestra pit. We’ve seen literally a thousand young people find their footing with the Court Jesters, and dozens of them have made their way to the Cabaret or the Mainstage. Cockpit has performed in at least six different venues on campus, and also taken the gift of theatre to Russia and Japan.

In recognition of these phenomenal numbers and the impact Cockpit has had on so many lives, we are asking you, our faithful Cockpit supporters, to make a gift of $50 in honor of our 50^th anniversary! It is our mission to present a diverse, well-balanced, quality theatrical season that promotes inclusion, embraces all cultures, experiences, and backgrounds, and fosters creativity among actors, artistic and production staff, the Board of Directors, and the community. Becca Vourvoulas

Charity Hope Valentine

Becca is over the moon to be back at Cockpit, to help celebrate its 50th season! A Baltimore native, she grew up performing on many local stages and then earned a BFA in Musical Theatre from Penn State. Since that time, Becca has enjoyed performing all over the country and abroad. Her favorite roles are now that of military spouse and toddler mom. Cockpit audiences may remember Becca from productions of Crazy for You (Polly) and Curtains (Bambi). Many thanks to Steve for his support and the grandparents for the babysitting assist!

Alexander Conte

Oscar Lindquist

Xander is a Pittsburgh native who is happy to be in his first Baltimore performance. Xander earned a theatre minor at Penn State and is currently pursuing a Master’s in Education at Johns Hopkins University. He currently teaches chemistry for the Baltimore City Public Schools. His proudest accomplishment is being the father of three beautiful kittens. He would like to thank everyone involved in this production and his friends and family for their support. His favorite credits include: Director of Annie, Robbie Hart in The Wedding Singer, Amos Hart in Chicago, Moonface Martin in Anything Goes, and Ren McCormack in Footloose.

Mark D. Macaluso

Vittorio Vidal

Though Mark is no stranger to the Maryland local theater scene, he returns from a ten year hiatus, having ignored his true love and spending too much time on lifes’ other obligations. He is happy that his white shoes from many years ago still fit him, and that he has the opportunity to again use them in a role that puts him in an all-white wardrobe (you may remember him from Suddenly Last Summer as Dr. Sugar at the Vagabond Theater). He occasionally also performs in various Maryland courtrooms in his recurring role as a private attorney.

Albert J. Boeren

Herman

Albert is pleased to be a part of this 50th anniversary celebration having first joined the Cockpit family in 1979 as a teen in Bye, Bye Birdie. Since then he has appeared in Tom Sawyer, Camelot, Singing in the Rain, Curtains, Hairspray, The Gazebo, And Then There Were None, among many others. He had also directed Cockpit's productions of The Odd Couple, Social Security, and Don't Drink the Water. He has appeared with various companies around Baltimore including Dundalk Community Theatre, Merrick's Dinner Theatre, Matthew Players and Phoenix Festival. Favorite roles include Anything Goes (Moonface), The Music Man (Harold Hill), Bye, Bye Birdie (Albert), Annie (Rooster), The Sound of Music (Capt. Von Trapp), and Biloxi Blues (Epstein). Other directing credits.... Brighton Beach Memoirs (DCT), Barnum, Godspell (twice), Meet Me in St. Louis, Farewell Mona Lisa, Arsenic and Old Lace (4 productions), and Bye, Bye Birdie among many more. His favorite role is husband to Lisa (37 years) and father to Andrew and Angela. Albert works for Amazon. He loves old vinyl records, reading biographies, playing with his dog Archie, and watching old movies.

Natalie Knox

Natalie is absolutely thrilled to be returning to the Cockpit in Court Stage in Sweet Charity! Natalie most recently appeared as Cindy Lou in The Marvelous Wonderettes with Tidewater Players in Havre De Grace. Other favorite credits include Velma Kelly in Chicago, Holly in The Wedding Singer, Lucy in Avenue Q, and Mimi in Rent. Natalie is a Bel Air native, doting doggie mama, and a fitness enthusiast who loves to cook and loves to laugh. God’s blessings are truly abundant and she would like to give the big man upstairs a huge shout out. Another big shout out to her amazing family and friends for their undying love and support.

Katie Sheldon

Katie is thrilled to finally be back at Cockpit having last been seen as Zaneeta in The Music Man over 15 years ago! She was most recently seen as Maria in Sound of Music with The Miracle Players. Past favorite roles include Mary Poppins in Mary Poppins, Charity in Sweet Charity, Lola in Damn Yankees, Velma Kelly in Chicago, Kristine in A Chorus Line, Bonnie in Anything Goes, Rose Alvarez in Bye Bye Birdie, Nellie Forebush in South Pacific and Mother in Ragtime. Thanks to the staff for this great opportunity to do this show again!

Lynn Tallman

Ursula/Dance Hall Girl

Lynn is happy to be back at Cockpit in Court this summer serving up a little Fosse in Sweet Charity. Past Cockpit in Court credits include Nice Work if You Can Get It (Eileen Evergreen) and Murder on the Nile (Kay Ridgeway-Mostyn) other local credits include Side Show (Auntie) with DCT and Cabaret (Sally Bowles) at Spotlighters. Lynn holds a Master of Music degree from the Cleveland Institute of Music. Professionally she has performed with Michigan Opera Theatre, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra Chorus, and locally with Doc Scantlin and the Imperial Palms Orchestra. Away from the stage Lynn can be found at Dance Conservatory of Maryland studying ballet, teaching musical theater, and serving as Dance Mom/Chauffer to three of her children.

Amie Bell

Amie is excited to make her debut with Cockpit In Court! This past spring, she choreographed Sister Act for St. Demetrios Suburban Players, where she also choreographed Footloose and Legally Blonde. She was nominated by the 2019 Washington Area Theater Community Honors (WATCH Awards) for Outstanding Choreography for her work on Cabaret at Silhouette Stages. Selected stage credits include One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest (Showcase on Main), Sweat (Spotlighters Theatre), Sweet Charity (Heritage Players), and Sideshow (Dundalk Community Theater). Amie is a graduate of the Martha Graham School in New York City. While in New York, Amie performed in the dance companies of Jeanne Ruddy, DeWarren Moses, Laura Marchese, and Mark Dendy. Amie teaches private and group dance and yoga classes in the Baltimore area. Amie thanks her family, Sam, Alyssa, and Ben for all their love and support.

Angela Boeren

Angela will be a Senior at Shippensburg University in the Fall majoring in Social Work and minoring in Art. She is no stranger to the stage having grown up performing with Children's Playhouse of MD as well as Cockpit in Court. Some favorite performances include roles in Les Miserables, Oliver, West Side Story and Thoroughly Modern Millie with CPM; The Wizard of Oz, The King and I, Gypsy, and Nice Work if You Can Get It with Cockpit; Mamma Mia! with Dundalk Community Theatre and Pippin, Tarzan, Mary Poppins and The Addams Family with The John Carroll High School. Angela was seen last month on this same stage in Once On This Island.

Emily is thrilled to return to Cockpit in Court Summer Theatre. Most recent show credits include Young Frankenstein at Street Lamp Community Theatre and Footloose at Phoenix Festival Theatre. Up next, Emily will be stage managing Grease at Phoenix Festival Theatre.

Grace C. Kaskel

Dance Hall Girl

Grace is an Acting Magnet student at Patapsco High School & Center for the Arts. At school she is involved in the Gospel Choir, Great Expectations Show Choir, and a member of ITS. Grace has 14 years of dance experience at Rising Starz Dance Co. where she attends ballet, tap, jazz, modern, hip hop, acro, contemporary, and pointe classes. Grace is also a dance assistant and teacher of musical theatre dance. Grace has a deep love of theatre and began her stage career when she was 5 years old. Some of her favorite roles have been Belle in Beauty and the Beast Jr, Pugsley in The Addams Family, Charlie Bucket in Willy Wonka, JoJo in Seussical, Jemima Potts in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, and a soloist in Godspell in Concert. Grace also enjoys singing with 5th Sunday Christian Rock Band and choreographing for local theatre productions. Grace is so excited to be performing in her first show at Cockpit in Court and is excited for this opportunity. Thank you to the cast and crew for welcoming her into the Cockpit family. Laura is thrilled to be returning to one of her favorite local stages and to be sharing it with so many talented old and new friends! Some of her favorite roles to date are: Anytime Annie in 42nd Street, Tessie Tura in Gypsy and Columbia in The Rocky Horror Picture Show. She is truly grateful to her Momma who has supported her through thick and thin both on and off stage! Enjoy the show!

Angie Sokolov

Angie is super excited to be performing again at Cockpit in Court. Angie holds a BFA in Music Theatre from Elon University and lived and performed in New York City for many years. After touring Nationally with The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas and acting Off-Broadway in The Awesome 80’s Prom, she got married, had 2 little girls and moved back home to Bel Air, MD. She was most recently seen locally in A Chorus Line, The Full Monty, Avenue Q, and Legally Blonde the Musical. Angie would like to thank Steven for his unwavering support and encouragement and Sasha and Waverly for being the two best tiny dancers she could have ever dreamed up.

Danielle Uppleger

This is Danielle's first production being a cast member as an adult! In earlier years, she attended the Canadian Lakes Theatre Camp (as a camper and a counselor) and participated in school productions. In high school, she joined a community theatre group much like Cockpit in Court and was an ensemble member in Beauty and the Beast and Shrek: The Musical. She has worked and helped out in almost every department of theatre, with her most recent venture being an assistant director for the Forest Park High School Drama Club production of The Wiz. She thanks her mom, dad, and sisters (both human and furry); her mentor and co-director Caitlin Bell, and her roommate, Xander Conte.

Tracey Zimmerman

Tracey is returning to the Cockpit in Court stage after many, many years. She was last seen on the Cockpit stage in Red, Hot, and Cole, Big, and Sugar Babies. By day, Tracey is a teacher with Baltimore County Public Schools. Favorite roles include Maggie in A Chorus Line, Reno Sweeny in Anything Goes, and the Narrator in Joseph.... Thomas C Hessenauer

Ensemble

Toby returns to Cockpit for his sixth show having previously appeared here in Night Watch, Nice Work if You Can Get It, Laughter on the 23rd Floor, Towards Zero and An Evening of Murder. A graduate of the University of Rochester, he has studied under members of the Royal Shakespeare Company and the Folger Shakespeare Library. Recently, he has been seen at Dundalk Community Theater in I Hate Hamlet, The Graduate, and The 39 Steps. Previous roles include: Friar Laurence in Romeo and Juliet, Uncle Max in The Sound of Music, and Max Bialystock in The Producers. As a member of the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) he can be seen in the award winning HBO film Something the Lord Made , HBO's series The Wire, and the Renee Zellwegger film My One and Only. He may also be seen briefly in episodes of Veep and House of Cards.

Ryan Holmes

Ryan returns to Cockpit in Court after having performed in The Rocky Musical at Toby’s Dinner Theatre and Dreamgirls, at Baltimore Center Stage with ArtsCentric, 42nd Street at Beth Tfiloh, Kinky Boots at Toby's Dinner Theatre. Away from the stage Ryan is a father of two.

Eric J. Potter

Director

Eric Is thrilled and honored to be directing Sweet Charity for Cockpit in Courts 50th Anniversary Season. He has been involved at Cockpit for 42 years either, performing, stage managing or directing. Some of the shows he has directed were; Funny Girl, The Music Man, Baby, Blood Brothers, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, Sunset Boulevard and most recently Nice Work If You Can Get It. He has also directed for such theatres as; Dundalk Community theatre, Vagabond Players, TowsonTowne Dinner Theatre and Toby’s Dinner Theatre. By day he works for Johns Hopkins University. Congratulations Cockpit, here is to another 50 years!

Nathan Scavilla

Musical Director

By day, a physicist, by night, a local music director/conductor for many theaters in the area. He is currently the resident Assistant Conductor and keyboard programmer at Toby’s Dinner Theater. He always enjoys returning to Cockpit in Court and Dundalk Community Theater for shows! He would like to thank Eric, Ilona, and Lisa for all their hard work on this production. He would also like to thank his parents, and Sara for their support!

Ilona Kessell

Choreographer

Ilona has been happy to spend time collaborating with Sweet Charity’s excellent cast, crew, and staff. Her choreography and musical staging have been featured on the stages of: Constellation Theatre, Imagination Stage, the Kennedy Center, Olney Theatre Center, Rep Stage, Round House, Toby’s, and Totem Pole Playhouse, as well as in national tours produced by the Kennedy Center and Troika Productions. She has received multiple nominations for the Helen Hayes Award for Outstanding Choreography, winning the award for Ragtime--the Musical and Damn Yankees. She is a member of the SDC, the independent union of stage directors and choreographers.

Lisa L. Boeren

Stage Manager/Light Board Operator

Lisa has worked on over sixty productions in the Baltimore area for many companies including Dundalk Community Theatre, Cockpit in Court Summer Theatre, Phoenix Festival Theatre and Stevenson University. Lisa just celebrated 16 years as the Box Office Manager for CCBC and also serves as the Administrative Manager for Cockpit in Court Summer Theatre. In her spare time, she sits on the Board of Directors for Dundalk Community Theatre. This production marks the first time that the entire Boeren family is doing a show together - Albert is playing Herman, Angela is dancing her feet off and Andrew is Keyboard 2 with the orchestra.

Toni is very excited to be apart of her first season at Cockpit in Court Summer Theatre! After graduating CCBC in 2015, Toni moved on to running sound and lighting at Medieval Times Dinner & Tournament for three years. She has spent the past few months touring the country to set up and run effects for cheerleading competitions. Toni would like to thank her friends and family for encouraging her to continue her craft and for all of their support. It means the world.
