COVID-19 HEALTH & SAFETY:

LATE SEATING & RE-SEATING:

Due to the design of our theatre, we cannot guarantee seating for late arrivals or for patrons who leave the theatre during the performance. As a courtesy to our artists and our audiences, late arrivals will be seated in a suitable location by our staff if possible and at the appropriate intervals.


REFRESHMENTS:

Only concession items purchased in the Wine & Dessert Bar are allowed in the theatre, patio and lobby areas. Yes you can bring your drinks and snacks into the theatre!


CHILDREN:

Capital Stage is noted for bringing intimate bold productions to our region and we encourage young adults to experience a live performance. Children age sixteen and up are welcome at Capital Stage unless specifically noted in the production’s description.


WHEELCHAIR SEATING:

Seating locations at Capital Stage for patrons using wheelchairs or with limited mobility are located in the first row. Tickets for these seats may be purchased in person or by calling the Box Office at 916-995-5464.

Restroom facilities are located in the lounge behind the Wine & Dessert Bar.

Brittni Barger*

Lizzy Darcy
Brittni Barger* - Lizzy Darcy Brittni (she/her) is truly honored to reprise the role of Lizzy Darcy at CapStage. Past credits here include Lizzy in MISS BENNET and THE WICKHAMS, Sylvia in TRIBES, Nora in A DOLL’S HOUSE, and Nina in STUPID F##KING BIRD. She studied theatre at CSU Sacramento and NYU’s Collaborative Arts Project. Currently living in San Diego, she’s had the opportunity to film commercials and mixed media with a wide variety of fun clients and products like Manscaped, Bloomsybox, Crossrope, Manna Vitamins, Glamnetic, and more. U/S Brian/Production Assistant
Kyle Missman^ - U/S Brian/Production Assistant Kyle (they/them) is a local Sacramento actor and current apprentice with Capital Stage. Previous credits include PIPPIN as Pippin, and RENT as Mark (Falcon’s Eye Theatre.) In addition to theatre, Kyle enjoys writing poetry and enjoys studying and creating mixed media to go along with their writing. If you are interested in keeping up with Kyle’s art in the future, check out @youjustmissedtheman on Instagram! In the future, they hope to transfer to a school within the UC system and to further their breadth of experience as an artist. Colin Sphar* - George Wickham Colin was last seen at Capital Stage in THE WICKHAMS, and heard in THE WICKHAMS: A RADIO PLAY. Theatre credits: THE QUEEN’S BALL: A BRIDGERTON EXPERIENCE (Netflix, Shondaland), POSH (Steep Theatre—Jeff Award, best ensemble), the world premiere of LUNA GALE (Goodman Theatre, Center Theatre Group—Ovation Award, best tour), and work with Steppenwolf, Chicago Shakespeare Theater, Victory Gardens, Teatro Vista, and more. Colin started his acting journey as a young performer with Sacramento Theatre Company (THE LITTLE PRINCE, ARCADIA) and is an alumnus of Natomas Charter School PFAA. Colin is based in Chicago where he graduated from The Theatre School at DePaul.

Devin Valdez - Lydia Wickham Devin Valdez is over-the-moon excited to be portraying Lydia Wickham in this production of THE WICKHAMS: CHRISTMAS AT PEMBERLEY after having been in MISS BENNET last season. She was also seen in MURDER ON THE ORIENT EXPRESS at Sacramento Theatre Company. Other favorite credits: THE WOLVES (#45) at Capital Stage, HAMLET and A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM at Sacramento Theatre Company, JASPER at Big Idea Theatre as well as IN THE TIME OF THE BUTTERFLIES and WELCOME TO ARROYO'S.

Imani Waweru^ - Cassie Imani is a Capital Stage apprentice with an area of interest in acting and a student at Folsom Lake College. She has a performance background in dance and made her theater debut on Capital Stage’s 2022-23 season opener THE ROYALE. She is especially excited to portray Cassie in this production. Imani would like to give a special thanks to her director, Peter Mohrmann, her amazing fellow cast members, and all of the Capital Stage crew members who’s hard work made this production possible. She is incredibly grateful to be able to immerse herself in a community of talented artists and have the opportunity to learn, grow, and create.

Kriston Woodreaux*

Fitzwilliam Darcy
Kriston Woodreaux* - Fitzwilliam Darcy Kriston (he/him) is a multidisciplinary artist based between Austin, TX and Chicago, IL. His recent theatre credits include PASS OVER (Capital Stage); THE INHERITANCE, EVERY BRILLIANT THING, NOTES FROM THE FIELD, and THIS GIRL LAUGHS, THIS GIRL CRIES, THIS GIRL DOES NOTHING (ZACH Theatre); BRUTAL IMAGINATION (Salvage Vanguard); THE CITY WEARS A SLOUCH HAT (Rude Mechanicals); ACTUALLY (WorkHound), MONROE (Austin Playhouse); HENRY IV (The Hidden Room); and NEVA (Theatre en Bloc). Kriston studied acting at Bradley University and Illinois State University. He is appreciative for the opportunity to return to Capital Stage and getting to work with a stellar team.

Lauren Gunderson

Playwright
Lauren M. Gunderson is one of the most produced playwrights in America since 2015 topping the list thrice including 2022/23. She is a two-time winner of the Steinberg/ATCA New Play Award for I AND YOU and THE BOOK OF WILL, the winner of the Lanford Wilson Award and the Otis Guernsey New Voices Award, a finalist for the Susan Smith Blackburn Prize and John Gassner Award for Playwriting, and a recipient of the Mellon Foundation’s Residency with Marin Theatre Company. She studied Southern Literature and Drama at Emory University, and Dramatic Writing at NYU’s Tisch School where she was a Reynolds Fellow in Social Entrepreneurship. Her play THE CATASTROPHIST, about her husband virologist Nathan Wolfe, premiered digitally in January 2021. She co-authored the MISS BENNET plays with Margot Melcon, and THE HALF-LIFE OF MARIE CURIE premiered off-Broadway and at Audible.com. Her work is published at Playscripts (I AND YOU; EXIT PURSUED BY A BEAR; THE TAMING and TOIL AND TROUBLE), Dramatists Play Service (THE REVOLUTIONISTS; THE BOOK OF WILL; SILENT SKY; BAUER, NATURAL SHOCKS, THE WICKHAMS and MISS BENNET) and Samuel French (EMILIE). Margot Melcon

Playwright
Margot Melcon is an artist, arts administrator and writer. She co-wrote MISS BENNET, THE WICKHAMS and GEORGIANA & KITTY with Lauren Gunderson, the CHRISTMAS AT PEMBERLEY trilogy. She was the Director of New Play Development at Marin Theatre Company for seven years, where she dramaturged over 30 productions – including six world premieres – and administered the company’s two annual new play prizes and commissioning program. She has developed plays with TheatreWorks, Bay Area Playwrights Festival, Crowded Fire Theater, Shotgun Players, Berkeley Rep’s Ground Floor, the Kennedy Center, the New Harmony Project, and The Playwrights’ Center in Minneapolis. She currently manages arts and culture grantmaking at the Zellerbach Family Foundation. Margot is a graduate of California State University, Chico and currently lives in San Francisco with her family.

Peter Mohrmann

Director
Peter is a co-founder and associate artist with Capital Stage where he has directed THE WICKHAMS (2019), MISS BENNET (2018, 2019, 2021), THE SANTALAND DIARIES, THE TOTALITARIANS, MAPLE AND VINE, THE NORTH PLAN, IN THE NEXT ROOM, FICTION, OR, DINNER WITH FRIENDS, THREE DAYS OF RAIN, RELATIVELY SPEAKING, and JACK AND JILL. Peter has appeared at Capital Stage in STUPID F##KING BIRD, IDEATION, HEDDA GABLER, EVERY CHRISTMAS STORY EVER TOLD, AMERICAN BUFFALO, THE TYPOGRAPHER’S DREAM, HUMBLE BOY and BOY GETS GIRL. Regionally he has performed with Sacramento Theatre Company, the Sacramento Shakespeare Festival, Foothill Theatre Company, City Theatre, Synergy Stage, River Stage and the Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival. Peter received his MFA in acting from the Theatre School/DePaul University, and is an adjunct professor in the theatre arts and film departments at Folsom Lake College, Sacramento City College and Woodland Community College. He is a proud member of Actors' Equity Association.

Michael Stevenson

Artistic Director
For Capital Stage, Michael has directed GLORIA, THE LIFESPAN OF A FACT, ADMISSIONS, THE HUMANS, THE OTHER PLACE, SWEAT, THE THANKSGIVING PLAY, LUNA GALE, STUPID F##KING BIRD, HOW TO USE A KNIFE, DISGRACED, MR. BURNS, IDEATION, CLYBOURNE PARK, MAURITIUS, ERRATICA (World Premiere), and LES LIAISONS DANGEREUSES. He has directed at regional theaters including: B Street Theater, Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival, Orlando Shakespeare Company, Perseverance Theater Company, and Sacramento Theater Company. As an actor he has appeared at many regional theaters including: 42nd Street Moon, American Conservatory Theater, The Aurora Theater, Bailiwick Repertory Theater, Capital Stage, B Street Theater, the Utah Shakespeare Festival, and Marriott’s Lincolnshire Theater. He holds an M.F.A. from the American Conservatory Theater.

Keith Riedell

Managing Director
Keith celebrates his 16th year at Capital Stage, joining the company early in the second season. He brings to Capital Stage his varied experiences in the theatre, management, team building, counseling, training and corporate improvement. In his role as Managing Director he hopes to make Capital Stage a world class place to work, while playing an important role in the social justice efforts in our region.

Tony Gabrielson

Production & Company Manager
Tony joins Capital Stage this season as the Production and Company Manager. He has worked with many theaters and dance companies locally and around the country over the last 15 years, most recently Stage Managing SMART PEOPLE last season, here at Cap Stage. Favorite productions include: DISNEY'S BEAUTY AND THE BEAST with Barter Theater in Abingdon, VA, ON BORROWED TIME at Two River Theater in Red Bank, NJ, and developmental workshops of BOTTLESHOCK! THE MUSICAL. He is blessed and beyond grateful to continue working as an artist in our community. Love and thanks to Jessa and Piper - his favorite people.

Wesley Apfel*

Stage Manager
Wesley is thrilled to be back downstairs at Pemberley, after stage managing this production in 2019! Previously with Capital Stage: THE GREAT LEAP, SWEAT, BETWEEN RIVERSIDE AND CRAZY, SLOWGIRL, and THE ROOMMATE. Recently: UNSEEN, PETER AND THE STARCATCHER (Oregon Shakespeare Festival); LEAR (CalShakes). Sacramento productions include the World Premieres of THE DONNER PARTY, OF KITES AND KINGS, and KATE: THE UNEXAMINED LIFE with Sacramento Theater Company. Regional premieres at Music Circus, Aurora, Theatreworks, Center REP, 42nd Street Moon, Paper Mill Playhouse and Barrington Stage. Original NY productions of THE GRADUATE, GUTENBERG THE MUSICAL!, BAT BOY, THE MUSICAL OF MUSICALS, and THE THING ABOUT MEN. Production Supervisor for the SPF Summer Play Festival. Resident Artist at Golden Thread in San Francisco.

Carlos Llontop

Technical Director
This will be Carlos’ second season here at Capital Stage and he could not be more excited! Prior to his days at Capital Stage he was the Technical Director for Falcon’s Eye Theater at Folsom Lake College taking part in productions such as SPRING AWAKENING, THE WHO’S TOMMY, HAIR, MARAT/SADE and many more. He was also a lead technician at the Harris Center where he was able to work on countless touring Broadway productions and concerts. He wants to take a moment to thank his previous professors and mentors Ian Wallace, Rebecca Redmond, David Harris and Sam Coquerille. He would also like to thank his amazing team of apprentices for all their hard work and dedication. He is looking forward to making some magic and creating art with his fellow artists for time to come.

Eric Broadwater

Scenic Designer
Eric Broadwater is currently the Professor of Scene Design and Chair of the Theater Department at California State University Stanislaus where he has designed and supervised over 30 productions. His professional work includes scenic designs and set painting in regional and local theaters all over the country. Recent credits include BETWEEN RIVERSIDE AND CRAZY, THE ROOMMATE, AN OCTOROON and MISS BENNETT: CHRISTMAS AT PEMBERLEY at Capital Stage, THE MAN OF LA MANCHA at Sacramento Theatre Company and several designs for the Palo Alto Children’s Theatre. Patrick O'Reilly

Lighting Designer
Patrick O’Reilly is delighted to be working with the talented folks at Capital Stage again. Previous designs include WICKHAMS: CHRISTMAS AT PEMBERLEY at Capital Stage, DEATH AND HARRY HOUDINI and RANKED: A NEW MUSICAL at UC Davis, WINTER'S WALTZ at R Street Theatre, BEAUTY AND THE BEAST BALLET at Hawkins Dance Academy, and IN LOVE AND WARCRAFT at American River College. He is the Head Electrician with the UC Davis Theatre and Dance Department and has served as the Lighting Design Assistant for the past eighteen productions with Broadway at Music Circus. He holds AAs in Technical Theatre and Acting from American River College and a BS in Computer Engineering from UC Santa Barbara.

Collaborating with Capital Stage for over a decade, favorite shows include: MISS BENNET, MARJORIE PRIME, AN OCTOROON, BETRAYAL, THE HOMECOMING, A DOLL’S HOUSE, IN THE NEXT ROOM, OR, DANGEROUS LIASONS. Other local credits include STC’s CLUE, KATE, THE WHIPPING MAN, GEM OF THE OCEAN; Fair Oaks Theatre Festival’s SUESSICAL, WILLY WONKA, SHE STOOPS TO CONQUER; DORETHEA PUENTE, BECOMING JULIA MORGAN, and LOVE ISADORA California Stage; HAIRSPRAY, THE SEAGULL, JEKYLL AND HYDE, BEAUX STRATAGEM, STOP KISS, and JULIUS CAESAR at American River College where she also teaches in the Theatre Arts and Fashion departments.

Ed Lee

Sound Designer & Engineer
Ed is delighted to be part of another season at Capital Stage. He has been involved in almost every production since the company’s aquatic days at the Delta King, from artwork for SPEECH AND DEBATE to appearing in FIRST PERSON SHOOTER. Favorite sound design credits include: MASTER CLASS; SOMEONE TO WATCH OVER ME; 4000 MILES; MISTAKES WERE MADE; RAPTURE, BLISTER, BURN; and UNCANNY VALLEY.

Kimberly Taketa

Properties Designer
Kimberly is excited to return for another season at Capital Stage. She's an alumni of the Capital Stage Apprentice Program and returned the previous season to Prop Design LIFESPAN OF A DREAM and SMART PEOPLE. She is a graduate of Sac State and alumni of the Music Circus Intern Program, primarily as a Props Artisan. She has worked as a Props Master, Light and Scenic designer, and Stage Manager for over 20 productions. She is currently the Technical Director at The Fourth Wall. Notable productions being THE PRODUCERS, DIVINERS, LUNA GALE, MAJORIE PRIME, BARE: THE MUSICAL, and finally, her directorial debut of Team Starkid’s THE TRAIL TO OREGON at the Fourth Wall.

Corey D. Winfield

Hair & Makeup Designer
Corey is a performer and theatrical technician who has worked in the entertainment industry for 30+ years. Having worked in stage, film, and television, he has had the privilege to put his work before local, US, and international audiences. Locally you may have noticed his technical work in shows like HAIRSPRAY, WEST SIDE STORY, THE ADDAMS FAMILY and most recently here at CapStage in AN OCTOROON, THE ROYALE, and GLORIA. You may also have seen him perform in ANGELS IN AMERICA as Belize, ANNIE as Oliver Warbucks, SEUSSICAL as Sour Kangaroo, THE PRODUCERS as Roger DuBris, Bob Irvin’s SHREW! as Vincentio, and THE ROCKY HORROR SHOW as Dr. FrankNFurter.

Samantha McLean Haas

Scenic Charge Artist
Samantha has been painting sets for over a decade in the greater Sacramento area. She's worked at Sacramento City College, University of California Davis, Sacramento Theatre Company, B Street, and Broadway at Music Circus. This is her third season with Capital Stage.

Ryan Adame

Dramaturg
Ryan is a theater and visual artist, writer, and co-founder of “The Pinkys”, an all-BIPOC performance collective. Their first work WITNESS THE YELLOW PERIL premiered at the Son of Semele and Hollywood Fringe Festivals in L.A. and was selected for the Edmonton Fringe Festival in Canada. They’re currently developing a performance piece exploring folk narratives and the January 6th Insurrection with Theatre Emory in Atlanta. Ryan is an Affiliate Artist at Emory University and Adjunct Professor of Theatre at Cosumnes River College. He earned his MFA in Acting from CalArts, and is a proud Equity and SAG/AFTRA member.

David Harris

Fight Director
David is an SAFD certified Actor/Combatant. He has choreographed several productions for Capital Stage over the past fifteen years. David also created fight choreography for Sacramento Shakespeare Festival and other educational institutions.
