DIRECTOR’S NOTE

“The Addams Family” is such a fun musical, filled with zany and loving characters, steeped in rich history.  Playing Gomez was one of my favorite performing experiences, especially because my son and I got to play a father and son duo onstage while portraying Gomez and Pugsley, directed by my sister Brittany.  Rehearsing and performing in this space has been pretty symbolic of my life right now; hard to find our footing, filled with many obstacles, temperature too hot, temperature too cold, distracting, loud, exhausting, rewarding, painful, delightful.  Or maybe I should say, “Happy, Sad” - Gomez.  I am very blessed to be surrounded by my family, community, and talented actors who not only support me and our endeavors, but also are not afraid to roll up their sleeves and put in the work.  I admire these actors for their grit, patience, and willingness to take risks.  The Addams’ are not just a “creepy and kooky” family.  There is so much we can learn from them.  I have needed to apply their messages from this show more than ever.  “Let’s live before we die, let’s laugh before cry.”  “Normal is an illusion.”  “Time my dear is a thief.”  “Go ahead and fall.  Love still conquers all.”  “It’s family first, and family last, and family by and by.”  I hope you enjoy our show experience.   Time to “move toward the darkness, and feel.”
