A Note From The Director
A note from the Director
Thank you for joining us for the second show of our 2021/2022 production season. It feels SO GREAT to be back in front of a live audience for the 2nd time in many months! We are so grateful you have joined us.
“Pageant” (as it is affectionately called) has a long tradition at St. Mary’s Academy, having been produced (by my count) 7 times in the last 20 years. In fact, a few of our current seniors still recall their own role in their 2018 production with fondness. I’m so glad this new group of students will carry on the tradition.
I love this story because each time I see or direct it, I find new meaning in its message. This year in particular I have connected with the story’s message of hard work, determination, grace. I also resonate with the story’s call to understanding, kindness and seeing ourselves in each other. I am sure the cast and crew would agree with me that it has been a hard but rewarding experience for all of us.
To say I am proud of this group of students is really an understatement. Some of them have never been on stage before (their friends dragged them to the audition) and some were not even sure what happens during a play. In the end, as you will see, they have come together as a group to work towards creating a moment in time to share with you. I have watched these students grow from unsure and skeptical, to understanding and embracing their roles as storytellers (both on and off the stage). I am not only proud of them I am excited for them!
We hope you feel the love, hope and joy that comes from this story.
A special thank you to Demetri Pavlatos who supported our technical students as they worked on lights, sound and set design. We appreciate you!
And especially to the parents and loved ones of these actors and techies, thank you for sharing your lovely humans with me.
Many blessings to all of you this season.
With gratitude,
~Shannon More
