LATE SEATING & RE-SEATING:
Due to the design of our theatre, we cannot guarantee seating for late arrivals or for patrons who leave the theatre during the performance. As a courtesy to our artists and our audiences, late arrivals will be seated in a suitable location by our staff if possible and at the appropriate intervals.
REFRESHMENTS:
Only concession items purchased in the Wine & Dessert Bar are allowed in the theatre, patio and lobby areas. Yes, you can bring your drinks and snacks into the theatre!
CHILDREN:
Capital Stage is noted for bringing intimate bold productions to our region and we encourage young adults to experience a live performance. Children age sixteen and up are welcome at Capital Stage unless specifically noted in the production’s description.
WHEELCHAIR SEATING:
Seating locations at Capital Stage for patrons using wheelchairs or with limited mobility are located in the first row. Tickets for these seats may be purchased in person or by calling the Box Office at 916-995-5464. Please call ahead to notify the staff if you required these seats.
RESTROOMS:
Restroom facilities are located in the lounge behind the Wine & Dessert Bar.

Meet the Company
Hailey Bowland^
Hailey has been very busty this season as an apprentice and is delighted to be working with the wonderful people within the Capital Stage Family. She has a passion for story-telling and creating intimate connections through art and design. Hailey recently graduated from UC Davis with a Bachelors in Theater and Design. She’s worked in the UCD Theater Department’s scenic shop as a student Technician, has assistant designed for several UCD Productions including AS YOU LIKE IT and RULES OF PLAY, assisted in puppet/creature/prop production for UCD’s SHE KILLS MONSTERS, and continues to look forward to the wonderful opportunities provided by the theatrical world.
Lydia Crist^
Lydia is a current member of the Capital Stage Apprenticeship Program. She has received her degree in acting/directing at George Fox University, and has previously worked as a high school theatre teacher. She also co-founded Convergence Theatre Company, where she directed GODSPELL and SALT OF THE EARTH. Enjoy the show!
George Hillman
George is thrilled to be part of this team for such a fun play. George is currently in his final year at Sac State, working towards his BA in Theatre Arts. He loves to perform just as much as he loves to breathe, especially places in the community he has never worked with before. Some of his previous work includes Benedick in MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING at Sacramento State, Avery in THE FLICK at Big Idea Theatre and Junior in BEFORE IT HITS HOME at Celebration Arts. James Simpson^
James Simpson is an actor and director who had been thrilled to work so closely with amazing artists through Capital Stage’s apprentice program. With a deep passion for storytelling and performance, James has learned from experienced artists and immersed himself in every aspect of the creative process. His goal is to grow as both a performer and a visionary behind the scenes, and onstage and is using this opportunity to refine his craft working as an assistant stage manager, crew member, wardrobe constructor, and has built a foundation for a lifelong career in theater and film. James has now taken on the role of an actor with Capital Stage. He brings enthusiasm, creativity, dedication, and a collaborative spirit to every project, and is excited to take the next step in his artistic journey.
Ryan "Gel" McKinney
Gel is a UC Davis theatre student, and this is their third time working at Capital Stage, having previously assisted with THE LEHMAN TRILOGY and EUREKA DAY. They are usually a designer but sometimes an actor, with prior work including S, Mosquito, and Gecko in PASSAGE at UC Davis, as well as Tiresias, Polyphemus, and several other characters in THE ODYSSEY IN SHADOW, also at UC Davis.

Don Zolidis
Don Zolidis, one of the most-produced playwrights in the world, is a former middle school and high school theater teacher. His 140+ published plays have been produced over 25,000 times, appearing in all 50 states, every Canadian province, and more than 80 countries around the world. He’s a member of the Dramatist’s Guild and earned an MFA in playwriting from the Actor’s Studio Drama School at the New School and a BA in English from Carleton College. He splits his time between Austin, Texas and upstate New York, where he lives with his partner and a great border collie. donzolidis.com
Michael Stevenson
Michael Stevenson has served as Capital Stage's Artistic Director since 2015. For Capital Stage, Michael has directed THE SOUND INSIDE, THE LEHMAN TRILOGY, KING JAMES, ARCHDUKE, HEROES OF THE FOURTH TURNING, GLORIA, THE LIFESPAN OF A FACT, ADMISSIONS, THE HUMANS, THE OTHER PLACE, SWEAT, THE THANKSGIVING PLAY, LUNA GALE, STUPID F##KING BIRD, HOW TO USE A KNIFE, DISGRACED, MR. BURNS, IDEATION, CLYBOURNE PARK, MAURITIUS, ERRATICA (World Premiere), and LES LIAISONS DANGEREUSES. He has directed at regional theaters including: B Street Theater, Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival, Orlando Shakespeare Company, Perseverance Theater Company, and Sacramento Theater Company. As an actor he has appeared at many regional theaters including: 42nd Street Moon, American Conservatory Theater, The Aurora Theater, Bailiwick Repertory Theater, Capital Stage, B Street Theater, the Utah Shakespeare Festival, and Marriott’s Lincolnshire Theater. He holds an M.F.A. from the American Conservatory Theater.
Liz Gray
Liz Gray holds an MFA in Arts Leadership and a GradCert in NPO & NGO Management (Virginia Tech), a BFA in Theatre (NYU, Tisch), and certifications from the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (London) and the Upright Citizens Brigade (NYC). Previously, Liz worked as a strategic planner and capital campaign & endowment designer, accessibility auditor, company manager, community engagement coordinator, and development consultant with arts and nonprofit organizations across the country. She taught accessible communications (Center for Communicating Science) and theatre courses (Virginia Tech & Fort Lewis College). Liz presented her research on arts financial structures at the League of Historic American Theatres’ Conference and facilitated workshops at Rutgers University and with the Society for In Vitro Biology and La Universidad San Francisco de Quito.
Tony Gabrielson
Tony has worked with many theaters and dance companies locally and around the country over the last 15 years as a stage manager, carpenter, painter, and technician. Favorite productions include: DISNEY'S BEAUTY AND THE BEAST with Barter Theater in Abingdon, VA, ON BORROWED TIME at Two River Theater in Red Bank, NJ, and developmental workshops of BOTTLESHOCK! THE MUSICAL. He is blessed and beyond grateful to continue working as an artist in our community. Love and thanks to Jessa and Piper - his favorite people.
Caleb Jones
Caleb is proud to be Capital Stage's Technical Director since the 23/24 Season. He is new to Sacramento but has worked at the San Diego REPertory theater and with several theaters within Fresno County. Eric Broadwater is currently a Professor of Scene Design for the Theater Department at California State University Stanislaus where he has designed and supervised over 40 productions. His professional work includes scenic designs and set painting in regional and local theaters all over the country. Recent credits include GEORGIANA & KITTY: CHRISTMAS AT PEMBERLEY, THE ROYALE, THE LIFESPAN OF A FACT, and EUREKA DAY at Capital Stage, KINKY BOOTS with Ray of Light Theatre, and DRACULA: A COMEDY OF TERRORS at B St. Theatre. Shae Mercer
Shae Mercer is thrilled to be working on THE TWO KIDS THAT BLOW SH*T UP after also designing ESPEJOS: CLEAN, I AND YOU, UNSEEN, and EVERYTHING BEAUTIFUL HAPPENS AT NIGHT here at Capital Stage. She received her BFA in Theatre Arts from Southern Oregon University in 2022, and has since been paving her way into the Sacramento theatre scene as Capital Stage’s Lead Electrician. Her previous work includes ENGLISH and CRY IT OUT at Capital Stage, THE 39 STEPS at Village Theatre, HEATHERS: THE MUSICAL at Sacramento Theatre Company, and HEARTS LIKE FISTS at Southern Oregon University.

Samantha McLean Haas
Samantha has been painting sets for over 15 years in the greater Sacramento area. She’s absolutely thrilled to be joining Capital Stage for her sixth season as Scenic Charge Artist. In addition to Capital Stage, she’s worked at Sacramento City College, Sierra College, California State University Sacramento, University of California Davis, Sacramento Theatre Company, B Street, and Broadway at Music Circus. She is an Adjunct Professor of Theatre Arts at Sierra College, where she teaches scenic painting.
EJ Agata
EJ Agata (he/they/she), is grateful to be back at Capital Stage! He'd like to thank friends and family for their endless, unconditional support. EJ’s recent works include: ESPEJOS: CLEAN (Capital Stage), JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR (Music Circus), EUREKA DAY (Capital Stage), THE MERRY WIVES OF WINDSOR (SPARC). When he isn't designing, he's a teaching artist for Sandcastle Theater Co.'s Davis programs. EJ's also a MAD Lighting Fellow for Shotgun Players and will be working on THE DEATH OF MEYERHOLD this December.
Jarod Wiggins
Jarod Wiggins is a local performer and fight choreographer for stage and film. (As well as a former Capital Stage apprentice!) As a long time martial artist and certified actor combatant with the Society of American Fight Directors, Jarod is thrilled to bring their skills back to Capital Stage to work with the amazing cast of FAT HAM. Jarod is also currently working on fight choreography for Sac State’s PIPPIN as well as Hummingbird Theatre Company’s ROMEO AND JULIET if you want to see more of his work.
