BWW Stage Mag The Cat Without A Hat the musical - The Hamptons Club House Stage Mag

The Cat Without A Hat directed by Romeo Abba

Welcome, dear friends, to a curious show,
Where hats may not fit and odd breezes may blow!

Where Things may go zooming and Who's may go Who-ing,
And someone quite clever is always up to-doing.

A Cat with no hat? Well, that simply won't do!
Or perhaps that's the mystery waiting for you.

So wiggle your whiskers and loosen your grin,
For the topsy-turvy adventure begins.

Meet all the players, the dreamers, the crew,
The dancers, the singers, and backstage folks too.
Peek at the sponsors, the stories, the art,
And discover the magic that all played a part.

So tap and explore, take a look all about,
For strange things are happiest when they wander about.

And remember this truth as the pages unfold:
The best kinds of stories are silly and bold!

Now onward you go with a smile nice and wide...

The Cat Without a Hat
is waiting inside.

Video: THE OUTSIDERS Cast Performs at WNYC Concert Event

The cast of Broadway's Tony-winning musical The Outsiders joined WNYC on Thursday for a special appearance as part of the Broadway On The Radio series hosted by Alison Stewart in The Greene Space at WNYC.

Watch the hour-long event, which featured performances from cast members Noah Pacht (Ponyboy), Caleb Mathura (Johnny Cade), SeQuoiia (Dallas Winston), Dan Berry (Darrel), Sutton James Kaylor (Sodapop), and Emma Pittman (Cherry), who also spoke about their characters and working on the production.

This special edition of the series is co-presented with the Mayor’s Office of Media & Entertainment for New York Music Month as part of their “Radio City” lineup. The casts of Ragtime and Cats previously visited WNYC for concert performances, available to see here and here.

The Outsiders features a book by Tony Award nominee Adam Rapp with Tony Award winner Justin Levine, music and lyrics by Tony Award nominees Jamestown Revival (Jonathan Clay & Zach Chance) and Justin Levine, music supervision, orchestration & arrangements by Justin Levine, choreography by Tony Award nominees Rick Kuperman & Jeff Kuperman and is directed by Tony Award winner Danya Taymor

In Tulsa, Oklahoma, 1967, Ponyboy Curtis, his Best Friend Johnny Cade and their Greaser family of “outsiders” battle with their affluent rivals, the Socs. This thrilling new Broadway musical navigates the complexities of self-discovery as the Greasers dream about who they want to become in a world that may never accept them. With a dynamic original score, The Outsiders is a story of friendship, family, belonging... and the realization that there is still “lots of good in the world.”

THE HIP HOP NUTCRACKER to Play The Fabulous Fox in St. Louis

The Hip Hop Nutcracker will stop at The Fabulous Fox in St. Louis for one show only on Thursday, December 17 at 7:30 p.m. Blow is host and MC of the family-friendly holiday mash-up and contemporary holiday dance spectacle that has performed more than 250 times in 70 cities and brings a modern twist to Tchaikovsky's 130-year-old ballet. Joining Blow on stage is the powerhouse cast of a dozen all-star dancers, an on-stage DJ, and an electric violinist.

The Hip Hop Nutcracker is directed, choreographed, and co-created by Jennifer Weber – an Emmy winner and two-time Tony and Olivier award-nominee who also choreographed the international hit musical, “& Juliet” currently playing on Broadway. Executive producing is three-time Tony winner and two-time Olivier award-winning producer Eva Price, whose productions have garnered six Olivier Awards, two GRAMMY Awards, two Emmy Awards, and 19 Tony Awards. The re-mixed and re-imagined version of the classic story turns the beloved Nutcracker score on its head. Hip hop dance and Tchaikovsky's timeless music blend together for a heart-stirring and inspirational holiday event that takes audiences on a journey celebrating love, community, and the magic of the holiday season.

“The Hip Hop Nutcracker is a magical journey where tradition meets innovation, offering families and friends a holiday experience like no other,” says Blow, who paved the way for generations of hip-hop artists and fans after scoring the first certified gold record rap song in 1980. Blow is also responsible for “Christmas Rappin,” acclaimed for being the first rap holiday song. “This show is proof that the magic of the holidays can be found in the most unexpected places.” Blow says the all-star cast, dynamic choreography, and stunning performances honor hip hop's rich history while celebrating a cherished holiday story.

Just like the original, Maria-Clara and the Nutcracker Prince go on a dream adventure battling a gang of mice, visiting the land of sweets, and learning the lessons of the holiday season. Innovative digital graffiti and visuals transform the landscape of E.T.A. Hoffmann's beloved story from traditional 19th century Germany to the vibrant, diverse sights and sounds of contemporary New York City.

Created in 2013 by Weber and writer Mike Fitelson, the production has evolved into a masterpiece due to the creators' never-ending commitment to enhancing the production, and dancers who continue to raise the bar each year.
