Director's Note

Dear Dollies,

Thank you so much for coming to PAC’s last musical of the season! I am forever grateful to be able to be a part of this crazy show, and to work with all these brilliant artists.

My first experience with “The Dolls of New Albion” began in 2018 when I performed as Byron in the off-broadway premiere with The National Theatre for Student Artists. I was in love with the show the minute I heard the music. I was in contact with the writer of the show, Paul Shapera, and I realized how much I would love to bring this story back to life. The fact that I was given the chance to be a part of this story once more is a gift that I am so thankful for.

Hope is something that is built into humanity, whether of religious intent, intimate connection, or even for what's next to come. This story revolves around the human condition craving to be forgiven while also recognizing the necessity to never forget. It is always difficult to find answers especially when they are right in front of you, and though the answer may not be one of expectation, the future beckons and cries for the truth; “Sometimes when you lose, you win.”

Thank you and enjoy the show.

Vincent Canale-Rouse (they/them)

Director
