HFC Underground proudly presents The Genie's Jukebox, an enchanting evening of Disney Villains dipped in Jazz starring Major Attaway, the longest-reigning "Genie" from Disney's Aladdin on Broadway. With a pinch of "Cruella" and a dash of "Ursala," punctuated by a piano stride and a blue note, Attaway delves into the beloved character's slightly sinister side as he musically highlights his villain accomplices with Disney Songs You Love To Hate! "Poor Unfortunate Souls," Be Careful what you wish for because "Jafar" ain't got nothing on Attaway!

Creator/Performer

Major Attaway is a Broadway,TV/Film and Voice Actor from Fort Worth,TX. He is best known for his Broadway Debut in Disney’s Aladdin in 2016. From 2017-2020 he took over the Tony Award winning role of the Genie. He is currently the longest running Broadway Genie with over 1500 performances.

Eric Fotre Leach

Musical Director

Eric Fotre Leach graduated Magna Cum Laude from Southern Illinois University with a BA in Music with a concentration in Musical Direction and Piano Accompanying. Eric has worked on Broadway's COME FROM AWAY and the Broadway National Tour of FLASHDANCE: THE MUSICAL

Matthew Schwartz

Saxophone

Originally from Lexington, Massachusetts, Matthew Schwartz is a New York City-based alto and soprano saxophonist, educator, and composer. past performances of note include an evening of swing dancing with the legendary jazz vocalist Sheila Jordan and performing original compositions on WBGO, one of the most notable jazz radio stations in the world.

Joy Woods made her Broadway debut in SIX: The Musical and Starred in Little Shop Of Horrors. Her previous credits include Little Shop of Horrors Off-Broadway (Chiffon), Mack and Mabel at Encores and Ratatouille: The TikTok Musical.

2022 MAC Award winners (Duo/Group) husband and wife piano/vocal duo Michael Garin and Mardie Millit have brought their unique blend of musical virtuosity and goofy charm to Manhattan audiences for the last two decades, delivering a wildly eclectic repertoire spanning genres, generations and cultures. Michael Garin is a Drama Desk Award-winning composer/lyricist/performer (for Song of Singapore.) Mardie Millit has a degree in opera and spent many years doing classic musicals, (My Fair Lady, The Sound of Music...) They have been performing together since 2005 — most notably their late Sunday nights at Elaine’s, from 2008 until its closing in 2011. Other New York appearances together include the Rainbow Room, 54 Below, Birdland, and Joe’s Pub. Currently, Michael is in his seventh year as the house pianist at the Roxy Hotel in Tribeca, where he plays his renowned musical mashups every Tuesday through Saturday. Their Middle Eastern pop band, The Habibi Kings (featuring violinist Samir Shukry and percussionist Ossama Farouk), is dedicated to spreading the classic party music of the Mediterranean to American audiences.

On October 23, HFC Underground at The Hunt & Fish Club presents an evening of Disney songs you love to hate in 'The Genie's Jukebox,' starring Major Attaway, the longest-running Genie from Disney's Aladdin on Broadway.

With a pinch of "Cruella" and a dash of "Ursala," Attaway combines Disney's iconic Villains with jazz music for a unique journey into the heart of animated darkness. Featuring Mathew Schwartz on Saxophone with musical direction and piano by Eric Fotre Leach.
