Summary:
Cinderella works and works in her nasty stepmother’s house. Her silly stepsisters, Brunhilda and Cleopatra, think they’re so beautiful that the Prince will marry them both, but the Prince spends most of the evening at a palace ball trying to escape from them! This delightful version introduces us to some playful, new characters: a fearless mouse, a timid cat, and the amazing Pumpkinhead, who changes into a coach! The Fairy Godmother is busy tutoring an apprentice but makes time for our heroine. A touch of incredible magic sends Cinderella off to the palace ball. Alas, she loses her glass slipper as she tries to escape before midnight arrives. The Prince vows to marry the girl whose foot fits the slipper. The ladies of the kingdom attempt to squeeze into the tiny shoe. Cleopatra can only manage one big toe! Naturally, by the final curtain, Cinderella and the Prince are reunited and the stepsisters get an unexpected comeuppance.
We hope you enjoy this magical retelling of this classic fairytale!

My Favorite Fairytale ...
Little Red Riding Hood was always my favorite fairytale growing up. I always thought it was such a fun story. Additionally, the movie Hoodwinked! was my all-time favorite movie growing up, and I still quote it to this day!
—Gabby Pederson, Sr.
My favorite fairytale growing up was Tangled. I loved how Rapunzel was artistic and had a little pet chameleon. To this day, I admire her hardheadedness. She never gave up on her dreams, and that led to her living a happy life!
—Sophia Vogel, Sr.
My favorite fairytale growing up was Sleeping Beauty. I loved Aurora simply because of her golden hair. I also thought Maleficent was a cool villain with her horns. Ironically, Cinderella was one of my least favorites because I was scared of the stepmother and didn’t like Cinderella’s bun on the top of her head.
—Anica Damhof, Sr.
My favorite fairy tales are The Princess Bride (if you want to count that) and Rapunzel. Both movies are so good and I still love to watch them!
--Morgan Groen
My favorite fairytale is Shrek! Shrek contains a million different fairytales within one and is extremely entertaining. The comedic references and jokes get me every time, and I am more than likely going to laugh louder than the kid sitting next to me.
—Kelsey Hillenbrand, Sr.
One of my favorite Disney movies is The Princess and the Frog because I loved the music!
—Carene Jean Louis, Sr.
I have always loved Sleeping Beauty because I loved Maleficent and wanted to be Aurora. I also admired the protection and love that Maleficent gave to Aurora.
—Cristina Fresnillo, Sr.
Beauty and the Beast—I find Beauty beautiful because she’s delicate, generous, and sweet. Her story is about how they first hate each other and then fall in love. This is definitely not something that happens in real life. In real life, they either hate you or ignore you.
—Melanie Luna, Sr.
My favorite fairytale was probably Beauty and the Beast! I loved Belle and her personality. The overall story was definitely my favorite by far. I ended up seeing Beauty and the Beast three times on Broadway, and each time was better than the last.
—Elzie Wassenaar, Jr.
My favorite fairytale is Rapunzel. I always loved the movie Tangled growing up. My family tells me we have similar personalities, and I am always dreaming.
—Sydney Watson, Jr.
I just remember being forced to watch it again and again with my younger sister, Josie, while my older brothers and parents watched a movie that I “wasn’t old enough to watch.”
—Garrett Mulder, Jr.
Aladdin—because when I was a young child, I really loved this movie, and it had a great effect on me. I must have watched it a thousand times! It was truly impactful.
--Gabe Timmer, Jr.
My favorite fairytale was Mulan. I really enjoyed the little red dragon, Mushu.
—Moses De Groot, Jr.
My favorite fairytale as a child was Rapunzel! I was always jealous of her long blonde hair, and I have many memories of watching Tangled with my cousins!
—Etta Grannes, Soph.
My favorite fairytale is probably Jack and the Beanstalk because I thought it was cool how Jack’s life changed with just a few beans.
—Evan Gustafson, Soph.
I love Beauty and the Beast! The storyline and the music draw me in every time. I love Belle’s beauty and her kind heart.
—Maddy Vander Ark, Soph.
When I was little, I wasn’t really into fairytales, but one that I did like was Cinderella—but not just any version, it had to be the Barbie Cinderella!
—Maddie Vogel, Soph.
My favorite fairytale as a child was Tangled! I liked it because of Rapunzel’s long hair. I also loved singing and dancing to the songs!
—Ella Brouwer, Soph.
My favorite fairytale as a kid (and still) is definitely Tangled. I love this fairytale because I think Rapunzel is the prettiest princess, and I like their cute little love story. :)
—Annaliese Wood, Soph.
I like Beauty and the Beast because of its compelling storyline and the influence it had on me as a child. It really inspired me, and whenever I watch the movie, it still brings me to tears.
—Caleb Timmer, Soph.
Whenever we went to my grandma’s house as kids, we always watched the live-action Cinderella movie. It became a favorite of mine and will always be a memory I cherish.
—Alysia Buteyn, Soph.
My favorite childhood fairytale is Three Billy Goats Gruff. It’s my favorite because my grandma used to read it to me, bringing it to life with her voice. Also, when I was little, my great-grandma would drive over the bridge in Prinsburg with me on her golf cart. She would pretend to be the troll hiding under the bridge as we crossed it. These memories are very special to me!
—Ketci Ulferts, Soph.
My favorite fairytale is Beauty and the Beast because I love the uniqueness of all the characters.
—Drys Watson, Fr.
Robin Hood—I liked the movie and thought it was a great story.
—Bo Duininck, Fr.
I didn’t really have a favorite fairytale as a child.
—Caitlyn Buss, Fr.
My favorite fairytale is Robin Hood because it is funny.
—Jamin Buteyn, 8th
WHY WE DO WHAT WE DO...
Central Minnesota Christian School Drama Department
Central Minnesota Christian School offers students a variety of Fine Arts in which they may participate. Whether that be Band or Choir, One Act, or Design Theory, each of these activities allows our students first and foremost bring Glory to God. In addition to this, it is our hope that through these activities they will grow in faith and deepen their competence in each discipline. Students will learn about teamwork, self-discipline, character development, faithfulness, consistency, perseverance, public presentation, leadership, excellence, and competition.
It is our prayer that through the Fine Arts our students will help their audience explore the human condition, challenge the culture we live in, and discover more about their role in it. Playing a piece of music, creating a beautiful painting, or performing an intense scene can evoke deep emotions of joy, pain, fear, triumph, or love within both the audience and the artist. Our challenge is to help students to engage their audience in a meaningful experience, and express Biblical perspective and truth through whatever activity they participate in.
