LATE SEATING & RE-SEATING:

Due to the design of our theatre, we cannot guarantee seating for late arrivals or for patrons who leave the theatre during the performance. As a courtesy to our artists and our audiences, late arrivals will be seated in a suitable location by our staff if possible and at the appropriate intervals.


REFRESHMENTS:

Only concession items purchased in the Wine & Dessert Bar are allowed in the theatre, patio and lobby areas. Yes, you can bring your drinks and snacks into the theatre!


CHILDREN:

Capital Stage is noted for bringing intimate bold productions to our region and we encourage young adults to experience a live performance. Children age sixteen and up are welcome at Capital Stage unless specifically noted in the production’s description.


WHEELCHAIR SEATING:

Seating locations at Capital Stage for patrons using wheelchairs or with limited mobility are located in the first row. Tickets for these seats may be purchased in person or by calling the Box Office at 916-995-5464. Please call ahead to notify the staff.

Restroom facilities are located in the lounge behind the Wine & Dessert Bar.

Nestor Campos, Jr.* - Hector Nestor Campos, Jr. is thrilled to return to Capital Stage in this production of THE HOMBRES where he was last seen in BETWEEN RIVERSIDE AND CRAZY. A graduate of Solano College Actor Training Program he dedicates his performance to the memory and legacy of his beloved teacher, mentor and friend Carla Spindt. Most notably he has appeared in ON AN OPEN FLAME, DIA DE LOS CUENTOS and A CHRISTMAS CAROL at B Street Theatre: SUNSETS AND MARGARITAS at Theatreworks; ONE FLEW OVER THE CUCKOO’S NEST and THE FOREIGNER at Solano Repertory Theatre; and DRACULA at Solano College Theatre. Jeremy Kahn*

Miles
Jeremy Kahn* - Miles Jeremy Kahn (he/him) returns to Capital Stage where he previously appeared in BAD JEWS in 2017. Other work includes productions with American Conservatory Theater, Berkeley Repertory Theatre, Long Wharf Theatre, Theatreworks, Marin Theatre Company, San Diego Repertory Theatre, Center REPertory Company, Magic Theatre, Aurora Theatre Company, San Francisco Playhouse, Ensemble Theatre Company, and Shotgun Players. His film/television work includes: "Looking" (HBO), "Unleashed", "Love is Love is Love", "The Etruscan Smile" and "Dirt". Jeremy has performed as a motion capture artist on several releases of NBA2K. He has a B.F.A from The Theatre School at DePaul University.

Elio Gutierrez

Pedro
Elio Gutierrez - Pedro Elio Gutiérrez-Montoya is an actor and director living in the Sacramento area and is delighted to be working with Capital Stage to bring you this production of THE HOMBRES by Tony Meneses. More often, he works with artistic community organizations like the Latino Center for Art and Culture and Sacramento Contemporary Dance Theatre to produce work that uplift underrepresented populations and community-based efforts. His most recent directing credit was THE WIZARD OF OZ, at the Sophia, Home of the B Street Theatre. As an actor, he most recently was in IN THE HEIGHTS, at the Woodland Opera House. Love to his cast, production staff, Dena, Jacob, Alondra, and family.

Angel Rodriguez

Beto
Angel Rodriguez - Beto Angel Rodriguez is a Sacramento-based artist. He is extremely grateful and excited to make his Capital Stage debut with this incredible production. Angel has been able to step into the shoes of many magical roles including Usnavi in IN THE HEIGHTS, Rene in LYDIA, and Juan in LA PASTORELA DE SACRAMENTO. He has had the honor to work with many local artistic organizations including Teatro Espejo, Latino Center of Arts & Culture, Teatro Nagual, Matriarchy Theater, Davis Shakespeare, and B Street. Angel holds a B.A. in Theatre from Sacramento State. Follow him along @a_rod719

Tony Meneses

Playwright
Tony Meneses - Playwright Tony Meneses was born in Guadalajara, Mexico, and raised in Albuquerque and Dallas. His plays include Guadalupe in the Guest Room and The Women of Padilla, which both had world premieres at Two River Theatre. He’s an alum of the Soho Rep Writer/Director Lab, Ars Nova Play Group, the Sundance Institute Playwrights Retreat at Ucross, Playwrights Realm Writing Fellowship, Youngblood, and has been previously developed at the LARK Playwrights’ Week and the Berkeley Rep Ground Floor. He’s a two-time recipient of the Kennedy Center Latinx Playwriting Award, is published by Dramatists Play Service, and is currently under commission from the Denver Center and Two River Theatre. MFA: Iowa Playwrights Workshop. BA: The University of Texas at Austin. He is currently in the Lila Acheson Wallace Playwrights Program at the Juilliard School.

Dena Martinez

Director
Dena Martinez - Director Dena Martinez has worked as an actor and director for Capital Stage. She directed THE ROOMMATE and 2 seasons for the Playwrights Revolution and played the role of Church Lady in BETWEEN RIVERSIDE AND CRAZY, Karen in AUGUST: OSAGE COUNTY and Maria in MR. BURNS, A POST-ELECTRIC PLAY. Directing credits elsewhere include: LA PASTORELLA, At the Crest Theater for Latino Center for Art and Culture; MANZI, THE STORY OF CESAR CHAVEZ, The Bay Area Childrens Theater; THE PRAYING MANTIS, City Lights Theater; and directed over many years for The Marsh and Vector Theater Co. She was part of the Directing Team for LOVE IS A DREAM HOUSE IN LOREN with Shotgun Players and Marcus Gardley. She has also directed 16 years at the Sierra Institute for Arts and Music where she runs the theater arts program and was Artistic Director of Latina Theater Lab in San Francisco, which she founded. Dena was a Casting Director for The Speakeasy SF, the Bay Area Playwrights Foundation, SF Playhouse, Cal Shakes, The Jewish Theater of SF and for Shotgun Players. She has worked both on camera and on stage and has voice over experience with such names as Pixar and Zoetrope/Coppola Studios. She has toured nationally, with The San Francisco Mime Troupe, Culture Clash, and with the acclaimed El Teatro Campesino. Her many theater credits include: leading roles at Arizona Theater Co. Denver Center Theater Company, St Louis Rep, Marin Theater Company, San Jose Rep., San Jose Stage, B St Theater, Magic Theater, Theaterworks, PCPA, Pacific Rep and Shotgun Players. Dena Martinez is a Talent Agent with Cast Images Talent Agency.

Michael Stevenson

Artistic Director
For Capital Stage, Michael has directed HEROES OF THE FOURTH TURNING, GLORIA, THE LIFESPAN OF A FACT, ADMISSIONS, THE HUMANS, THE OTHER PLACE, SWEAT, THE THANKSGIVING PLAY, LUNA GALE, STUPID F##KING BIRD, HOW TO USE A KNIFE, DISGRACED, MR. BURNS, IDEATION, CLYBOURNE PARK, MAURITIUS, ERRATICA (World Premiere), and LES LIAISONS DANGEREUSES. He has directed at regional theaters including: B Street Theater, Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival, Orlando Shakespeare Company, Perseverance Theater Company, and Sacramento Theater Company. As an actor he has appeared at many regional theaters including: 42nd Street Moon, American Conservatory Theater, The Aurora Theater, Bailiwick Repertory Theater, Capital Stage, B Street Theater, the Utah Shakespeare Festival, and Marriott’s Lincolnshire Theater. He holds an M.F.A. from the American Conservatory Theater.

Keith Riedell

Managing Director
Keith celebrates his 17th year at Capital Stage, joining the company early in the second season. He brings to Capital Stage his varied experiences in the theatre, management, team building, counseling, training and corporate improvement. In his role as Managing Director he hopes to make Capital Stage a world class place to work, while playing an important role in the social justice efforts in our region.

Tony Gabrielson

Production Manager
Tony joins Capital Stage this season as the Production and Company Manager. He has worked with many theaters and dance companies locally and around the country over the last 15 years, most recently Stage Managing SMART PEOPLE last season, here at Cap Stage. Favorite productions include: DISNEY'S BEAUTY AND THE BEAST with Barter Theater in Abingdon, VA, ON BORROWED TIME at Two River Theater in Red Bank, NJ, and developmental workshops of BOTTLESHOCK! THE MUSICAL. He is blessed and beyond grateful to continue working as an artist in our community. Love and thanks to Jessa and Piper - his favorite people.

Melissa Jernigan*

Stage Manager
Melissa Jernigan* - Stage Manager Melissa most recently worked at Capital Stage on THE CHINESE LADY, THE ROYALE, THE LIFESPAN OF A FACT, PASS OVER, MISS BENNET and HOLD THESE TRUTHS, and has been stage managing at Capital Stage since 2016. Some of her other favorites include VIETGONE, THE NETHER, AN OCTOROON, AND STUPID F##KING BIRD. Other theatrical credits include Production Assisting on Broadway’s LENNON, Off-Broadway: FELA! the Lagos Tour, David Cromer’s OUR TOWN, John Leguizamo: A WORK IN PROGRESS, BEAUTY OF THE FATHER at Manhattan Theatre Club, BREATH & IMAGINATION at Hartford Stage, OUR TOWN starring Helen Hunt at The Broad Theatre in Santa Monica and THE LASSO OF TRUTH at Marin Theatre Company. This past year she was a sub stage manager on Harry Potter and the Cursed Child in SF. She is a proud Equity Member. When she’s not inside the stage management booth Melissa enjoys spending time with her Husband and two sons.

Erika Placencia

Assistant Stage Manager
Erika Placencia is excited to be part of Capital Stage as an assistant stage manager. She was also assistant stage manager for B Street Theatre’s ‘TIS THE SEASON. She is currently a Senior at Jessup University earning her Bachelor of Arts in Theatre. She was the Stage Manager for Jessup Theatre’s A STREETCAR NAMED DESIRE. She is also an actress that played the role of Madame de Treville in THE THREE MUSKETEERS and the role of Steele in A PIECE OF MY HEART. She is a proud military veteran and whether on stage or backstage the theatre brings her joy.

Eric Broadwater

Scenic Designer
Eric Broadwater is currently the Professor of Scene Design and Chair of the Theater Department at California State University Stanislaus where he has designed and supervised over 30 productions. His professional work includes scenic designs and set painting in regional and local theaters all over the country. Recent credits include THE ROYALE, THE LIFESPAN OF A FACT, and THE WICKHAMS: CHRISTMAS AT PEMBERLEY at Capital Stage, KINKY BOOTS with Ray of Light Theatre, 9 TO 5 at 6th St Playhouse, and THE LOST CLAUSE at B St. Theatre. Patrick O'Reilly

Lighting Designer
Patrick O’Reilly is delighted to be working with the talented folks at Capital Stage again. Previous designs include WICKHAMS: CHRISTMAS AT PEMBERLEY at Capital Stage, DEATH AND HARRY HOUDINI and RANKED: A NEW MUSICAL at UC Davis, WINTER'S WALTZ at R Street Theatre, BEAUTY AND THE BEAST BALLET at Hawkins Dance Academy, and IN LOVE AND WARCRAFT at American River College. He is the Head Electrician with the UC Davis Theatre and Dance Department and has served as the Lighting Design Assistant for the past eighteen productions with Broadway at Music Circus. He holds AAs in Technical Theatre and Acting from American River College and a BS in Computer Engineering from UC Santa Barbara.

Yasmine Salmeron

Costume Designer
Yasmine is thrilled to be the Costume Designer for THE HOMBRES. Recent graduate from the University of California Davis earning a BA in Theatre & Dance and Gender, Sexuality, & Women’s Studies. At UC Davis earning credits as ASM for DEATH AND HARRY HOUDINI (The Musical) and ALONE/TOGETHER. In collaboration with directors and designers they have also assisted on SMART PEOPLE, GLORIA, THE WICKHAMS: CHRISTMAS AT PEMBERLEY, and THE CHINESE LADY. A true jack of many trades - stagehand, wardrobe and makeup assistant, production manager, etc. Yasmine looks forward to fostering community through her passion for theatre and the arts and continuing to master her craft.

Rebecca A. Valentino

Costume Consultant
Rebecca is delighted to return to Capital Stage where previous productions include HEROES OF THE FOURTH TURNING, GLORIA, THE WOLVES and THE GREAT LEAP! Rebecca has worked with many local companies including, The Aurora Theatre Company, 42nd Street Moon, Center REPertory Theatre and Solano College Theatre where she also served as the Costume Shop Supervisor from 2005-2012 and Adjunct professor of Costume and Theatre from 2007-2020. In addition she designed costumes for the Short Film GENERATIONS directed by Kourosh Ahari (The Night). She earned a BA from the University of California, Santa Cruz, and an MFA from the University of Michigan. Rebecca is currently the Costume Director for the Theatre and Dance Department at UC Davis.

Jacob Gutierrez Montoya

Choreographer
Jacob Gutiérrez-Montoya (he/him) is excited to be making his CapStage choreographic debut with THE HOMBRES. Regionally Jacob has worked with B Street Theatre, Sacramento Theatre Company and Broadway Sacramento. His work was most recently featured at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in Scotland, The New York Musical Festival and the McCallum International Choreographer’s Festival in Palm Desert. Jacob serves as the Artistic Director for the Sacramento Contemporary Dance Theatre and is proud to be part of the robust art scene in Sacramento. Thank you Dena for bringing me into the mix and all the love to my sweet husband Elio.

Ed Lee

Sound Designer/Engineer
Ed is delighted to be part of another season at Capital Stage. He has been involved in almost every production since the company’s aquatic days at the Delta King, from artwork for SPEECH AND DEBATE to appearing in FIRST PERSON SHOOTER. Favorite sound design credits include: MASTER CLASS; SOMEONE TO WATCH OVER ME; 4000 MILES; MISTAKES WERE MADE; RAPTURE, BLISTER, BURN; and UNCANNY VALLEY.

Kimberly Taketa

Properties Designer
Kimberly is excited to return for another season at Capital Stage. She's an alumni of the Capital Stage Apprentice Program and returned the previous season to Prop Design LIFESPAN OF A DREAM and SMART PEOPLE. She is a graduate of SacState and alumni of the Music Circus Intern Program, primarily as a Props Artisan. She has worked as a Props Master, Light and Scenic designer, and Stage Manager for over 20 productions. She is currently the Technical Director at The Fourth Wall. Notable productions being THE PRODUCERS, DIVINERS, LUNA GALE, MAJORIE PRIME, BARE: THE MUSICAL, and finally, her directorial debut of Team Starkid’s THE TRAIL TO OREGON at the Fourth Wall.

Karen Vance

Fight Choreographer
Karen is a Sacramento transplant originally from Portland, Oregon. She trained and worked professionally in the Chicago theatre and film community before going on to receive her MFA from Michigan State University in 2018. Karen is a proud member of AEA and recently started a position as Associate Professor of Theatre at San Joaquin Delta College in Stockton. Regional theatre credits include: B St. Theatre, Sacramento Theatre Company, Capital Stage, Shakespeare Project of Chicago, Teatro Vista, Artemisia Theatre and Summer Circle Theatre. Samantha McLean Haas

Scenic Charge Artist
Samantha has been painting sets for over a decade in the greater Sacramento area. She's worked at Sacramento City College, University of California Davis, Sacramento Theatre Company, B Street, and Broadway at Music Circus. This is her third season with Capital Stage.

Nicole C. Limón

Dramaturg & Intimacy Coordinator
Nicole C. Limón is an actor/director/dramaturg and theatre faculty at CSU, Sacramento. She is founder of Matriarchy Theatre and resident artist with Teatro Espejo. Recent directing: EVERYBODY by Branden Jacobs-Jenkins (CSUS,) QUANTUM by Tara Moses (Matriarchy,) DANCE NATION by Clare Barron (CSUS,) FADE by Tanya Saracho (Teatro Espejo,) and BLOOD AT THE ROOT by Dominique Morisseau (Celebration Arts.) Nicole holds an MFA in Acting from UC Davis, studied at the Centre for Indigenous Theatre in Toronto, and is a Theatrical Intimacy Director.
