Dee Dee Allen and Barry Glickman are New York City stage stars with a crisis on their hands: their expensive new Broadway show is a major flop that has suddenly flatlined their careers. Meanwhile, in small-town Indiana, high school student Emma Nolan is experiencing a very different kind of heartbreak: despite the support of the high school principal, the head of the PTA has banned her from attending the prom with her girlfriend, Alyssa. When Dee Dee and Barry decide that Emma's predicament is the perfect cause to help resurrect their public images, they hit the road with Angie and Trent, another pair of cynical actors looking for a professional lift. But when their self-absorbed celebrity activism unexpectedly backfires, the foursome find their own lives upended as they rally to give Emma a night where she can truly celebrate who she is. Directed by Ryan Murphy, The Prom is the spectacular, big-hearted film adaptation of the Tony-nominated Broadway musical. Screenplay by Bob Martin and Chad Beguelin.

Meryl Streep
Meryl Streep is often described as the "best actress of her generation", Nominated for a record 21 Academy Awards, she has won three. Streep has received 31 Golden Globe nominations, winning eight - more nominations, and wins, than any other actor.She has also won three Primetime Emmy Awards and has been nominated for fifteen British Academy Film Awards, and seventeen Screen Actors Guild Awards, winning two each. Nicole Kidman
Nicole Kidman gained universal attention in her turn as Rae Ingram in Dead Calm, Philip Noyce's critically acclaimed psychological thriller. She was honored with her first Oscar nomination for her performance in Baz Luhrmann's innovative musical, Moulin Rouge! For that role as Satine, and her performance in writer/director Alejandro Amenabar's psychological thriller, The Others, she received dual 2002 Golden Globe nominations, winning for Best Actress in a Musical for Moulin Rouge! In 2003, Kidman won an Academy Award, Golden Globe Award and BAFTA Award for her portrayal of Virginia Woolf in Stephen Daldry's The Hours. In 2010, Kidman executive produced and starred in John Cameron Mitchell's Rabbit Hole, for which she received Academy Award, Golden Globe, Screen Actors Guild and Independent Spirit Award nominations. Kidman also appeared in HBO's Hemingway and Gellhorn alongside Clive Owen in 2012, garnering her Emmy, SAG and Golden Globe nominations for her portrayal as Martha Gellhorn.
Andrew Rannells
Rannells received Tony, Drama Desk and Drama League nominations for his work as Elder Price in The Book of Mormon. Rannells was also seen on Broadway as Whizzer in Falsettos, Bob Gaudio in Jersey Boys, Link Larkin in Hairspray, Hedwig in Hedwig and the Angry Inch, and King George III in Hamilton. He has also been a part of the development of new projects including William Finn and James Lapine's Little Miss Sunshine and Douglas Carter-Beane's Lysistrata Jones. In addition to voice work early in his career, he also starred on the HBO hit series Girls, NBC's The New Normal, and had recurring roles on How I Met Your Mother, The Knick, and Another Period.
Kerry Washington
Kerry Washington is a versatile and fearless performer who continues to astound with the depth of her talent. A native of the Bronx, New York, Washington has received high acclaim for her work in film, television and theater. Her portrayal of crisis-manager Olivia Pope on the hit Shonda Rhimes show "Scandal," which aired its series finale in April 2018, has earned her numerous accolades including Golden Globe, Emmy and Screen Actors Guild nominations for Best Actress as well as an NAACP Image Award for Best Actress. In 2016, Washington launched her Production Company, Simpson Street, whose first project, HBO's "Confirmation", earned Emmy, Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild Awards nominations for its portrayal of Clarence Thomas' Supreme Court nomination hearings and the sexual accusations against him by Anita Hill (portrayed by Washington). Film credits include "Save the Last Dance," "Lift" (for which she received an Independent Spirit Award nomination), "Mr. & Mrs. Smith," "I Think I Love My Wife," "She Hate Me," "Miracle at St. Anna," "Lakeview Terrace," "The Details," "A Thousand Words," "Mother and Child," "Django Unchained," "Peeples" and "Cars 3." Keegan-Michael Key
As an actor, writer, and creator, Keegan-Michael Key has become one of the most creative and in-demand faces in Hollywood. With his extraordinarily diverse skill set and wide-ranging talent in both comedy and drama, Key redefines what it means to be a chameleon and multi-hyphenate in the worlds of film, television, and theater. Currently, Key can be seen in Nick Stoller's comedy series "Friends from College," which follows a group of Harvard alumni and their adult successes - or lack thereof. The show premiered on Netflix on July 14th. He also recently made his New York stage debut in The Public Theater's production of Hamlet as Horatio, opposite Oscar Isaac. Sam Gold directs the production, which opened on July 13th. He recently wrapped production on Shane Black's The Predator, which is expected to hit theaters August 3, 2018. A sequel to the 1987 sci-fi hit Predator, the film also stars Sterling K. Brown, Trevante Rhodes, and Jacob Tremblay. Later this year, he will also lend his voice to Sony Picture Animation's The Star, due this November. Key is the co-creator and co-star of Comedy Central's "Key & Peele" with Jordan Peele. The show won the 2016 Emmy Award for Outstanding Variety Sketch Series, with Key being individually nominated for acting and co-writing with Peele. Key was previously nominated for 5 Emmy Awards for his work on the show, as well as a 2016 Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series. "Key & Peele" won a 2014 Peabody Award and an American Comedy Award for Best Alternative Comedy Series.
Jo Ellen Pellman
Pellman has previously appeared on HBO's The Deuce and Amazon's The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. She is a graduate of the University of Michigan, where she starred in A Christmas Carol, The Drowsy Chaperone, Me and My Girl, Twist, and Grand Concourse.
Ariana DeBose
Ariana will next appear in Steven Spielberg's adaptation of West Side Story. Over the last decade, Ryan Murphy has become one of the most influential creators in entertainment. The screenwriter, director and producer has won six Emmy Awards out of 28 nominations and a Tony Award in 2019 for Best Revival of a Play, as a producer. He has also earned three Grammy Award nominations, as a producer. He is best known for creating and producing a number of successful television series that often include a cast from a repertoire of frequent collaborators with Murphy. Chad Beguelin
Chad Beguelin is a four-time Tony nominee whose works include Disney's Aladdin (Tony Award nomination for Best Book and Best Original Score, Drama Desk Award nomination for Outstanding Lyrics and Best Book) and The Wedding Singer (Tony Award nomination for Best Book and Best Original Score, Drama Desk Award nomination for Outstanding Lyrics). He also wrote the lyrics for the Broadway musical Elf. Chad is the recipient of the Edward Kleban Award for Outstanding Lyric Writing, the Jonathan Larson Performing Arts Foundation Award, the Gilman & Gonzalez- Falla Musical Theater Award and the ASCAP Foundation Richard Rodgers New Horizons Award. Chad is a graduate of New York University's Tisch School of the Arts Graduate Dramatic Writing Program.

Bob Martin has been working as an actor and writer for over three decades. He has received many awards in both Canada and the U.S., including a Tony for The Drowsy Chaperone. The Prom must go on! As BroadwayWorld previously reported, Ryan Murphy's upcoming Netflix adaptation of The Prom is still on track to be released later this year. Now he's sharing a photo from the set!
He writes: "Meet the incredible icon-packed cast of Netflix's THE PROM. A group of true troopers who buckled up and finished shooting during COVID so we could give everybody an inspirational aspirational story that we all need right now. Christmas is right around the corner..."

The film, written by Bob Martin and Chad Beguelin, follows four Broadway stars who, to champion a cause to rehabilitate their careers, head to a small-town to find Emma, a high school senior in Indiana who isn't allowed to take her girlfriend to the prom. DeBose will star as Alyssa, a popular daughter of THE HEAD of the Parent Teacher Association.
The film is being produced by Murphy, Alexis Woodall, Bill Damaschke, Adam Anders and Dori Berinstein Music and lyrics are by Beguelin and Matthew Sklar, based on the original concept by Jack Viertel.

It's time to dance! Sony Music Masterworks today released "Tonight Belongs to You," the first single from Netflix's forthcoming musical THE PROM, directed by Ryan Murphy and based on the hit Broadway musical from Bob Martin, Chad Beguelin and Matthew Sklar.
