Director's Note
Ahh...bonjour, salut, and welcome to this quiet corner of the programme, teeming with all the many kinds of words that belong in a programme.
In the production notes for "The SpongeBob Musical", there poses a challenge: "In General. Joy, Find and scatter Joy." As you sit, back, relax and dive into Bikini Bottom with us tonight/today, I hope that joy is indeed what we bring you. Let's face it, we could all use a little joy after the last two years of...y'know...
The SpongeBob Musical, at its core, is about community, friends, and family. It is about what happens when we collectively face a crisis. Art sometimes imitates life. In January, we began this voyage via Zoom. We did not know if this show would even be mounted. The resilience and tenacity that I have witnessed in these past few months from this community, these friends, this family, is hard to put into words.
To our talented cast--- thank you for everything. You are an unstoppable ensemble and I am incredibly proud of all your achievements.
To our production team and orchestra---For all of your support through all of our rehearsals, successess, roadblocks, and large slumbering volcanos of doom. Thank you, thank you, thank you. We did it!
And finally to our audience---We have missed you. We are so thrilled to share what we've been "frying" up for you.
Oliver Pavia
Director, The SpongeBob Musical
Message from the Board
Welcome back to our first Spring show in over two years. We are excited to be performing again and the cast and crew have worked hard and persevered through rehearsals wearing masks and staying healthy. We thank you for once again coming out to support RCMPI and hope that you enjoy your time here in Bikini Bottom and that you will come out and support us again in the Fall for our production of 'Matilda'.
During the past two years we have continued to incur expenses for our storage space for costumes, scenery and props and would like to encourage you to support our fundraising raffle.
RCMPI is a volunteer run organisation and this show would not be possible without the countless hours of volunteer time that goes into putting a production on to the stage. As we celebrate National Volunteer Week, I would like to thank every one of our volunteers both on and off stage that has helped us to “Keep the Stage Lights On” not only this week but always. My appreciation goes out to you all.
We thank you for filling the theatre for this performance with your applause and laughter.

In 2015, he graduated from Brantford Collegiate Institute’s SHSM Stage and Screen Program, rounding out his performance skills for musical theatre, and he was a dance teacher/choreographer for five years pre-pandemic. Previous RCMPI credits: "All Together Now!" (2021); "I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change" (cancelled in 2020 due to the pandemic); and Eddie in "Mamma Mia!" (2019). Huge thanks go to Sandra for constantly tackling the unique challenges this costume faced us with, and to all of you for supporting live theatre in Guelph!

Off-stage, Jake is a software developer, game aficionado, husband, and dog guardian.

A combination of her cheeky comedy, an eye for striking visuals, and having a finger on queer and pop culture makes her a unique and creative force in both the performing arts world and in the nightlife sphere. Mya approaches a performance the same way that she does for her events: make it BIG! Mya lives in Guelph, and is an aunt to her two precious nieces, Ruby and Olivia. A long time fan of Spongebob, Mya is thrilled to be playing Mrs. Puff!

Sandra Conway
Sandra is excited to be designing for such an exciting and unique show. She achieved her goal of using at least one costume from each of her previous 12 shows. Sandra also made an effort to only use recycled, repurposed, and re-imagined pieces from our current stock, and the stock of her friends at KWMP and GLT. Only three shirts, and the marvelous hot pink tights, will be added to our stock at the end of the show. Sandra would like to thank Sheila Todd, Jeff Symons, Audrey and Peter Conway, and Erynn Hayden for their invaluable help with some of the larger, more complex pieces.
Fiona Douglas

You will often find her directing ("Oliver!", "Having Hope at Home", "Dancing in Poppies", "The Foursome"). For musicals, her two most famous roles are Alto in the Chorus and Assistant Stage Manager. Being ASM means choreographing the "backstage ballet" of moving actors and props in tiny spaces. So much fun! Thanks Oliver, Jeff, Fiona & Robyn. Break a leg to all the talented RCMPI team, onstage and off.
