Directors’ Note
Welcome to JHS’s production of The Wizard of Oz! We are thrilled to finally bring this beloved classic to life on our stage.
As directors, this show holds a special place in both of our hearts. Whether it was watching the film as children, performing in it ourselves, or experiencing the magic of Oz in different ways throughout the years, The Wizard of Oz has always been a story that inspires us. The journey of Dorothy and her friends—full of courage, heart, and wisdom—reminds us all that sometimes, the things we are searching for have been within us all along.
We hope you enjoy this journey “somewhere over the rainbow” as much as we have. Thank you for supporting the arts at JHS—sit back, relax, and let us take you to the wonderful land of Oz!

Orchestra
Madi Lettimore - Flute
I’m Madi Lettimore and I am a senior in high school. I play flute in the pit and this is my first time playing in a live pit. I have played the flute since I was in 6th grade. I hope to continue to play flute in college. I want to thank my mom for always pushing me to be my best. I would also like to thank my best friends Lizzie and Jessica for pushing me to try something new.
Lacie Wankel - Reeds
Hi my name is Lacie Wankel. I've played the clarinet since 6th grade and it has helped me through some hard mental patches to be in music. Both of my older brothers were also in band class. I have thought myself how to play tenor sax as well, but clarinet will always be my passion. I can't wait for you to enjoy the show and the music it includes.
Carly Rife - Reeds
Hello! My name is Carly Rife and I’m a freshman here at JHS. I am involved with marching symphonic band, jazz band, and orchestra. Wizard of Oz is the first production I am involved in, though. For Wizard of Oz pit I am playing clarinet, bass clarinet, and saxophone but I play many other instruments in class and in my free time. I would like to thank LaSalle and everyone in the music department for making a great place to be myself (even if I can be a bit weird sometimes). I would also like to thank them for pushing me out of my comfort zone because, if not, I wouldn’t have improved on anything this year. Anyway, I hope you enjoy the show!
Landen Copley - Trumpet
Edgar Galeana - Trumpet
I am Edgar Galeana! This is my first time playing in a musical pit! I’ve been playing the trumpet for 5 years now.
Fun Fact: I can growl on my trumpet.
Westyn Leonard - Trombone
Ivan Shade - Percussion
Hello, I’m Ivan Shade, a freshman here at JHS. I’ve been playing percussion for more than seven years. I was never much of a theater kid in previous years, besides the yearly Christmas play in elementary school, but I only ever had one major role during my last year before going to JMS. Anyway, maybe being in this orchestra pit setting may bridge that gap? We’ll see. Hope this production of the Wizard of Oz is the best you’ll see! (At least for high schoolers :))
Ace Brunk - Percussion
Hello my name is Ace Brunk, I’m a Junior of Jacksonville high school and I’ve been involved with the music department for six years. Fun fact I’m hard of hearing. Being involved with music events makes me feel like I can be myself and I love being able to work with my friends. So sit back and enjoy the show!
Dylan Connors - String Synth
Aurora Mauzy-French Horn
Hi, I'm Aurora or Rori, and I'm 15. This is my 7th production and I'm hoping to keep counting. I've been in band for going on 10 years now and I continue to learn many instruments. Each show I've been in I have worked backstage or been in the cast, but I have been given the gift to use my passion for music to be in the orchestra. I started playing the french horn two years ago and so I wanna thank LaSalle who helped me so much to challenge myself and get better. I also wanna thank my friends who have helped me get to where I am such as Avery, Bryson, Cadence, and Ally. I hope you enjoy our show as much as we've enjoyed working on it.
