Directors Note
A Note from the Director
Welcome to Illyria friends, I am so glad you are here. Thank you for coming to the Nyos Drama program’s production of Twelfth Night.
Back in June, I was searching for the perfect musical–lots of lead roles that showcase a variety of talent, a challenging acting component, not too challenging tech wise, and on and on went my list of demands. I stumbled upon Shaina Tuab and the public theatre’s Twelfth Night and fell in love. It seemed perfect–except for one small problem. It didn’t have pre recorded music tracks. We have never worked with a live band before, and I am so grateful to the Nyos rock band for joining us on this adventure. I want to express my gratitude to the entire NYOS community for making this show possible.
A special acknowledgment is due to the incredible students who have poured their hearts and souls into this show. Their hard work, commitment, and enthusiasm have been truly inspiring. From set design to costume creation, from lighting to sound, to choreography, and everything in between, each student has played a part in making this production a reality. I also want to thank our dedicated teachers, parents, and volunteers who have worked tirelessly to create a magical and immersive experience for our audiences.
"Twelfth Night" is a celebration of love and life–loving who you are, and being loved for who you are; and Life– healing and growing and embracing all that life throws at you. Tonight, we celebrate both of those things with this show– a culmination of over 8 months of dedication, hard work, and love that has gone into making this celebration a reality.
I hope you enjoy the show.
