VELVET MARTINI The sweet scent of a woman’s perfume mixed with a wisp of smoke from a cigar smoldering in the corner of a darkly lit room marries with the sound of an icy cold martini being shaken by a bartender who looks as if time forgot. There’s a dim light on a trio which improvise as if they intuitively know the musical poems by heart. The aroma of a rich and seductive meal being prepared in the nightclub’s kitchen wafts through the air. Then the footlights rise on the stage and the show begins.

Meet the Company

ERIK SCOTT ROMNEY

ERIK SCOTT ROMNEY - Erik started his career as a dancer, only after he was discovered as a child gluing coins to the bottom of his shoes for tap shoes. Erik is American Musical Dramatic Academy Alumni and currently a member of the Actors’ Equity Association. Since going from Balanchine to Broadway, he has appeared and starred in multiple productions throughout Southern California, including here in his hometown Palm Springs. In his youth, circa 2000, Erik was a company member of the Palm Springs Ballet Company, and was often featured in Derrik Lewis’ Musical Chairs concerts. Erik was most recently seen locally at the McCallum Theater, in last year’s College of the Desert production of CABARET, as the Emcee. Before that, he was featured in the West Coast Regional Premiere of SOMETHING ROTTEN! (Musical Theatre West), and starred in MEL BROOKS’ YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN as Igor while doubling as Victor von Frankenstein (3D Theatricals). Erik is looking to one day play the titular role in BEETLEJUICE: THE MUSICAL. Until then, you can find him locally advocating, as a certified volunteer, for the restoration of the Historic Plaza Theatre in Palm Springs. You’ll also never know when Erik will surprise you with a performance at PS Underground. Erik is expected to debut his solo show "A LITTLE DIFFERENT: A MUSICAL REVUE" this Summer. Erik has won a number of Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony Awards, and that number is zero. www.erikromney.com

LIZZIE GRACE

LIZZIE GRACE - Joshua Tree native actress and singer who has been performing in and around the Coachella Valley for fifteen years. Credits include MAMMA MIA (Sophie), THE BEEBO BRINKER CHRONICLES (Laura), directed by Judith Chapman, CABARET (Sally) at the McCallum Theatre, and most recently SOUTH PACIFIC (Nellie). She also appeared in the west coast premiere of WHY CAN’T THE TRAINS RUN ON TIME? at the Palm Springs Cultural Center. Lizzie is the featured jazz vocalist with the Dey Martin Trio, vocalist and entertainer with The VIXEN Show at Runway Bar & Grill, and creator and vocalist of the cabaret show LITTLE DRUMMER GIRL: A NIGHT OF KAREN CARPENTER, premiering in Palm Desert in August. You can also see Lizzie in SOUTH PACIFIC at the Saban Theatre in Beverly Hills at the end of April. Five-time Desert Theatre League award winner. Lizzie thanks her friends and family for their love and support.

EMILY ROSE UNNASCH

EMILY ROSE UNNASCH - Emily is a graduate of David Green’s Musical Theatre University, and has become a familiar local talent. Although you may have recently seen her star as Belle in DISNEY'S BEAUTY AND THE BEAST (Desert Theatricals), and Cassie in A CHORUS LINE (Musical Theatre University), Emily won the 2022 Desert Theatre League Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Musical, and was also recognized by BroadwayWorld for the role of Annie Oakley in ANNIE GET YOUR GUN (Desert Theatricals). Emily has also delighted audiences as Phoebe in A GENTLEMEN'S GUIDE TO LOVE AND MURDER (Desert Theatreworks), Ulla in THE PRODUCERS (Desert Theatreworks), and Patsy in ALWAYS...PATSY CLINE (Desert Theatreworks). Emily is honored to be returning to PS Underground after previously performing in their production of FOLLOW SPOT.
