A Note From The Director
 

I first heard about Upstage in 2018 when I got asked to be the light board operator for Dog Sees God. At Upstage, I have found a second home and formed memories that will last a lifetime. I have always loved that Upstage is entirely run by teens and gives opportunities to so many. Last summer I took advantage of their staff roles and submitted an application to direct a show for the 2020-2021 season.

In the midst of the pandemic, I had no idea if theatre would proceed. Yet, when creative minds came together online, Zoom performances came to life. This season, I was offered the role of the director for Vintage Hitchcock. I was beyond ecstatic and took it in a heartbeat.

I have always admired Alfred Hitchcock and when I heard I would be directing a radio show inspired by some of his stories I was over the moon. The directing process was definitely different than my past experiences. Rehearsing and filming on Zoom was tough on its own, the fact that this was my first full-length show as a director was an added layer of challenge. Luckily for me, I had help from an amazing team and cast that made this process wonderful. I am so excited for people to see the final show and prove that even when times are tough, hard work pays off.
