Director's Notes

The musical Carrie narrows in on a small intersection of a story that echoes throughout every hallway, classroom, and gym in America. It is the story of a girl going through physical and emotional changes, and lacking a support system to cope with it all. To add to this, she has not been properly prepared for the world and has become an outsider. She is made to be a victim by her peers who have crippling struggles and insecurities of their own. Combine this with the intense pressure of being in high school, some mob mentality, and a touch of budding telekinetic energy, and you have a recipe for chaos.

Carrie was a sweet girl. Let Carrie's story serve as a grave reminder to be kind to one another. Leave this room and reflect:

What does it cost to be kind?
