Director's Message - Megan Wagner

This was my first time directing a musical, and what a whirlwind of an experience it has been! A bigger production comes with bigger challenges, but also enormous rewards. Working with this talented cast has been an amazing and educational experience. We had so many new people come to audition for this show, and the relationships that have formed over the last few months are sure to last. I could not be more proud of my cast and all of the hard work they have put into this show.

I'd like to thank my cast and crew for the endless hours put in to making this show a success, from rehearsing to costuming to choreography and set painting. I'd like to give a special thank you to my husband for his hard work on set construction as well as putting up with my insanity the last few months (not to mention how many nights I've spent away from home for rehearsals and tech week).

Now get ready for a trip to 1954 where you'll be rockin', rollin', hanging with Drapes and Squares, and following the whirlwind romance of our main stud Cry-Baby and his best girl Allison. Enjoy the show!

President's Message - Erin McLean

We did it! A full successful season in spite of the chaos of a pandemic! Cry-Baby is the perfect closing to our regular season with rockabilly flair, humour, and new faces! The 2021/2022 season has been a whirlwind of new opportunities and adventures for the Leduc Drama Society and we want to thank you all for your continued support. Cry-Baby the Musical has given our team another opportunity to work on stage combat, intimacy, stylistic make-up and collaborative dance! This season we have been forced to keep things relatively small so that we could continue to social distance, and keep each other safe, so I can not express how much joy it brings me to see a large cast end our season with all the vibrancy this show deserves.

Let the laughs & toe tapping shenanigans of Cry-Baby the Musical be just the beginning of our triumphant return to the shows you love, and hidden gems that will steal your heart. Thank you Leduc!!

Meet the Cast and Crew

Samantha Chatterton

Ensemble
Samantha Chatterton - Ensemble Sam loves musical theatre and has been singing and performing since the age of 10. She has been in musicals such as Rodgers and Hammerstein’s ‘Cinderella’, in which she played Cinderella, ‘Legally Blonde the Musical’, ‘Les Miserables’, ‘Peter Pan’, and ‘Into the Woods’. She studied opera at the University of Lethbridge. She took a break from theatre to have her 5 children and is very excited to be back on stage. This is her first performance with Leduc Drama Society and she looks forward to many more in the future.

Alex Chouinard

Ensemble
Alex Chouinard - Ensemble This will be Alex’s 4th show with Leduc Drama Society. Alex hasn’t been in a show for a while now, so he is very excited to be back on stage and be doing the thing he loves most. Alex would like to thank his incredible director and friend Megan for pushing him to do ‘Cry-Baby’. Alex enjoys singing, dancing and modelling, as well as hanging out with friends. When he isn’t on stage Alex is working as a cashier at Safeway and sings to fellow coworkers all the musical theatre songs he knows in his spare time. Alex hopes you enjoy the show and hopes to see you at Turkey Point.

Astrid Deibert

Whiffle
Astrid Deibert - Whiffle Born and raised in the Edmonton area, Astrid is a graduate of the MacEwan University Theatre Arts Program. A lover of theatre from a young age, she has been involved in many theatrical ventures, from performing with community theatre to building sets for high school performances. She has trained in various styles of dance, her favourites being ballet, tap, and her more recent passion, pole dancing. Astrid is a proficient violinist and, while she prefers classical music, she enjoys fiddling as well. She is super excited about her first show with the Leduc Drama Society and hopes everyone enjoys the show!

Deonna Fetzko

Mona "Hatchet-Face" Malnorowski
Deonna Fetzko - Mona Deonna has been with Leduc Drama Society for around four years and is finally taking her turn on the mainstage! Though she can be a bit of a “bull in a china shop”, audiences are sure to enjoy her powerful vocals and energetic performance. This triple threat is full of surprises and wears many hats. You can find her stretching her artist legs all over the capital region in her pursuits as a makeup artist, burlesque performer, karaoke host, and of course actor/singer. Deonna is sure to bring an edge to Cry-Baby’s gang of pacifist delinquents.

Alex Goodleaf

Skippy Wagstaff / Ensemble
Alex Goodleaf - Skippy Wagstaff / Ensemble Alex is new to the 'big time' theatre scene. He comes from a musical family and attended Suzuki Charter School in Edmonton where he learned cello. With his school, he participated in a musical production of ‘Alice in Wonderland’ as the King of Hearts. He loves to dance and sing and hopes to pursue theatre and swing dancing. He is very excited to be part of the cast of ‘Cry-Baby’ and looks forward to being in more shows in the future.

Danielle Goodleaf

Ensemble / Assistant Stage Manager
Danielle Goodleaf - Ensemble / Assistant Stage Manager Danielle is making her return to musical theatre after many years of being away from it. She has been in performances of ‘Oklahoma’ and ‘The Sound of Music’, as well as several original productions. Most of her performing took place in the Montreal area where she grew up. She has also sung in bands and choirs over the years and is happy to be back on stage.

Adrian Herbert

Whiffle
Adrian Herbert - Whiffle Adrian is proud to be a part of ‘Cry-Baby The Musical’! This is Adrian’s first time performing in a musical and he has loved the experience. He would love to thank Leduc Drama Society for their open arms and the loving cast for welcoming him.

Leanne Hiebert

Mrs. Vernon-Williams
Leanne Hiebert - Mrs. Vernon-Williams Leanne has been a member of Leduc Drama Society for over 30 years, involved in over a dozen productions including ‘Evita’, ‘The Merry Widow’, ‘Grand Hotel’, ‘Spirits of the Orpheum’, ‘Gold Dust’, ‘Dial M for Murder’, ‘The Addams Family Musical’….just to name a few! After taking a seven year hiatus, Leanne is very grateful and excited to be back on stage playing the part of the only-slightly-flawed, almost perfect, Mrs. Vernon-Williams. Leanne would like to thank our director Megan & musical director Erin for giving her this opportunity and the amazing cast & crew for bringing this production to the stage. Enjoy the show!

Kendra Humphrey

Allison Vernon-Williams
Kendra Humphrey - Allison Vernon-Williams Kendra is delighted to join Leduc Drama Society’s ‘Cry-Baby’ team! This is her first show with LDS and she couldn’t be more thrilled with her experience and getting to work with this amazing cast and crew. Kendra has had a passion for theatre that she has pursued since childhood, and is a graduate of Grant Macewan’s Musical Theatre program. Her past credits include ‘City of Angels’ (Donna//Macewan University), ‘The Great Gatsby’ (Jordan//Walterdale Theatre), ‘Imaginary Friend’ (Juliet//Straight Edge Theatre), ‘The Nightingale (Nightingale/Thousand Faces Festival). She would like to extend her thanks to the talented cast, everybody behind the scenes, and the audience who came out to support some awesome local theatre. Drape, or Square, get ready to be wild and bad for an evening and remember, forever starts tonight.

Leonard Marshall

Judge Igneous Stone / Ensemble
Leonard Marshall - Judge Igneous Stone / Ensemble Len has been actively involved with the Leduc Drama Society for more than 25 years. He has done comedies and dramas, but his real love has always been musicals. Some of his favourites include ‘Company’, ‘Hello, Dolly!’ and ‘The Wedding Singer’. Over the years he has seen many changes and worked with some great people, but the young people in this show are a real standout. The talent is sure to blow you away because it has blown him away. Let yourself be taken back to an era of great music and crazy times and just enjoy.

Sunshine Mauricio

Dupree W. Dupree
Sunshine Mauricio - Dupree W. Dupree Sunshine is excited to make her debut in musical theatre in Leduc Drama Society’s production of ‘Cry-Baby the Musical’. She appeared in a mini production of ‘Waiting’ with The Grindstone Theatre in 2019. Before discovering a love of acting, Sunshine has participated in local singing competitions. She is looking forward to utilizing her voice on stage in a new way. As a teacher, Sunshine’s interest in acting developed when she was asked to teach a junior high drama class. Having no experience, she enrolled herself in an acting class and has been in love with theatre ever since.

Scott McKenzie

Baldwin Blandish / Choreographer
Scott McKenzie - Baldwin Blandish / Choreographer Scott is thrilled to return to the Leduc Drama Society stage in this production of 'Cry-Baby'. Although he came to LDS during their 2018/2019 season as the assistant stage manager for 'Sympathy Jones', the COVID shutdown sadly did not allow him to take to the stage with LDS until last Fall’s production of 'All Together Now!'. Scott is no stranger to community theater. Since 2010, Scott was involved in 8 productions with the East of Sixty Productions dinner theatre group, both as an actor and director. Productions included 'A Christmas Carol', 'Who’s Under Where?', 'The Ghost Train', 'The Game’s Afoot', and 'Don’t Dress for Dinner' to name a few! Scott also serves on the LDS Board and is thrilled to be a part of this group as they plan amazing theatre experiences for this community and beyond!! He hopes you enjoy the “infectious” fun and music of this show!!!

Erin McLean

Pepper Walker / Musical Director
Erin McLean - Pepper Walker / Musical Director Erin: singer, actor, dancer, director, teacher, scary beyond all reason, and dog mother bringing you her particular brand of sass and vocals. Raised and escaped from Fort McMurray she holds a diploma in Music. She's played such roles as Morticia Addams, Briar Rose and Janice Joplin. So sit back, relax, and enjoy a fantastic show. Shout out to her two babes Buggz and Chubbz for listening to her hours of home rehearsals and Chels for writing this absolutely amazing bio. Time to rock the world’s face!

Jessica Ramisch

Wanda Woodward
Jessica Ramisch - Wanda Woodward Woe! This is Jessica’s second musical and first at Leduc Drama Society. She has previously done ‘All Shook Up’ the musical at Stageworks, and has two plays under her belt. She’s never gonna let this go, that she’s in her first ever character role as Wanda Woodward. She thanks her people for supporting her! If you don’t want to litter, loiter, or drink from a can at the end of the show, she’s sure that she can help you loosen up to lose a side of your square and become a teardrop, or turn a hotdog into a hearse…

Sophia Robertson

Ensemble
Sophia Robertson - Ensemble This is Sophia’s first production with Leduc Drama Society. She is beyond grateful to be a member of this wondrously talented and kind team. She has already learned so much from each and every person despite a short time together. Sophia started her career as a dancer at Flexpointe Studios and currently dances at Shelly’s Dance Company. Sophia used her previous training as help to pursue acting, singing, modelling, photography and most recently, character performing with Glass Slipper Entertainment.

Matteo Rota

Whiffle
Matteo Rota - Whiffle After a brief time out of Canada, Matteo is pleased to be part of ‘Cry-Baby’, his first turn with the Leduc Drama Society, having been part of Festival Place productions of ‘Elf - The Musical’, ‘The Music Man’, ‘James and the Giant Peach’, ‘Fiddler On The Roof’, and ‘Charlotte’s Web’. He has also participated in revues with Theatre Alberta, having cut his early acting teeth with the Nextfest Arts Company and sessional instruction with the Citadel Theatre. Matteo is happy to be a part of this production, and truly looks forward to this amazing show!

Joe C.A. Sinclair

Bailiff / Father Officer O'Brien / Ensemble
Joe C.A. Sinclair - Bailiff / Father Officer O'Brien / Ensemble Originally from Churchill Manitoba, Joe has lived in Leduc since 1973 (minus a few years spent in Yellowknife where he met the love of his life, Barb). How did he get involved with the Leduc Drama Society? He was watching Global News and they were doing a piece on “Geri-Actors” and he thought to himself that he’d like to try that! He’s thankful for the support and patience from the other members of the cast and crew. Joe loves to sing and this show has helped step up his dancing and singing abilities. Thank you and enjoy the show, Joe’s debut as a “Geri-Actor”.

David Son

Wade "Cry-Baby" Walker
David Son - Wade David is excited to be taking part in his first production with the Leduc Drama Society alongside such a wonderful cast and crew. He has spent the last 25 years as part of the incredible Edmonton dance scene and has recently decided to branch out and explore other aspects of being on stage.

Indya Watson

Lenora Frigid
Indya Watson - Lenora Frigid Indya is thrilled to be a part of ‘Cry-Baby The Musical’! Indya has performed in productions of ‘Seussical The Musical’ and ‘Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat’. She would also like to thank the Leduc Drama Society for welcoming her so lovingly into their family. She looks forward to being a part of future productions!

Emily Wright

Ensemble
Emily Wright - Ensemble This is Emily’s first performance with the Leduc Drama Society but she is no stranger to the stage. Not only is she trained in various styles of dance, she was also deeply involved with the theatre program in high school. Her sparkle and shine will draw you in, in every scene.

Lyndsey Cohen

Since then she has learned to play all of the woodwind instruments including flutes, piccolo, oboe, English horn, bassoon and saxophones. For over twenty years Lyndsey has been an in demand woodwind doubler with numerous different wind ensembles, jazz bands, orchestras, chamber ensembles, and theatre companies in and around Edmonton. Lyndsey is a founding member of the Edmonton Metropolitan Orchestra, and has been playing in musical theatre productions for over 20 years.

Gary Gilham

Pianist / Band Leader
Gary Gilham - Pianist / Band Leader Gary is enjoying making new friends in Leduc, hopefully at the end of a world pandemic, with possible world war three looming, but still doing what he loves, playing music for local community theatre, in spite of things to ruin or at least put a temporary damper on these wonderful opportunities! Ironically this is a show set in post-world war two, cold war paranoia, 1950's pandemic (polio) era. This is ironically fitting, and genuinely funny!

Timothy Maskell

Guitar
Timothy Maskell - Guitar Tim has been working with music since he was 15. His first musical was ’Celebration’ at Sherard Musical Theatre. Ever since then he has been involved with many shows, ‘Rocky Horror Picture Show’, ‘Jesus Christ Superstar’, ‘Blood Brother’ and many more. Tim says that musical theatre is the most fun he has had without getting arrested.

Jason McCoombs

Percussion
Jason McCoombs - Percussion Jason is excited to be back behind the drum kit for his fourth musical production with LDS, having previously played in 'The Addams Family', 'Sleeping Beauty', and 'Sympathy Jones'.
