A Note From Our Directors
Welcome and thank you for coming to J-DAPA’s performance of ‘The Bugs’ by Don Zolidis! When we discovered this play from Playscripts Inc., we thoroughly enjoyed its complex themes and over-the-top humor. Don Zolidis does a wonderful job of creating a vibrant world and allowing the actors to make these zany characters their own. We wanted to bring something to J-DAPA that would challenge the actors to make strong choices, explore, play, and learn something completely new. Not only is this epic tale insanely funny, but it also has a lot of heart. ‘The Bugs’ highlights friendship, justice, love, integrity, and doing what’s right despite the consequences. It is a great commentary on growth and community, with many eccentric characters who find themselves in situations where they need to change in order to survive.
One of the main themes of ‘The Bugs’ is the power of working together, and we’d like to thank everyone who helped make this show possible. It truly took an entire colony! Thank you, Donna Tellier, for giving us the opportunity to direct this wonderful piece, as well as being a fantastic costumer. Thank you for giving our vision for ‘The Bugs’ your support and trust. Thank you to Serena Roy for your endless support and talent as our stage manager. It was such a gift to know we had your sharp eye on the production during every rehearsal. Thank you to Matt Eisemann for wearing every hat needed in regards to tech and marketing. THOSE PHOTOS. It’s always a pleasure to watch you work and see the abundance of talent that is within you. Thank you to all the parents who provided their services as well. The kids were an absolute joy to work with. You should be so proud of them for being immensely professional, talented, and willing to work hard. It’s evident they have great role models to look up to. Thank you in particular to Charity and Matt Ancone, Ron Tellier, Aubrey Tellier, Eric Sturtevant, and Ronald Lamoureux. We could not have done it without any of you.
Finally, thank you to all you Bugs and Greek Gods in the play. Right from the start of auditions, all of you have far exceeded our expectations. You are all immensely talented and we have loved every moment of working with you. Please know that if there is anything in the future that you’d like to pursue, Aubrey and Dave are always here to support you in your future endeavors. Thank you all for being a part of this wonderful show!
