Director's Note:
Hello Everyone, and welcome to the Performing Arts Company (PAC)’s production of Fairview by Jackie Sibblies Drury. I’m excited for you all to be a part of our show. The cast & production team have worked tremendously hard. We started this show three weeks ago and I couldn’t be prouder. As you are watching I think about this: “How does the world perceive you? & How do you want to be perceived in this world?” Fairview is helping the Fredonia Campus to push the envelope forward, on our identity and how it shapes who we are in this world. I ask as you watch our production, you laugh, see the joy, but also allow yourself to be courageous. I couldn’t imagine a more perfect play than Fairview to be the to start of the PAC season.
Enjoy The Show!
“Neither love nor terror makes one blind: indifference makes one blind.”
- James Baldwin
Dramaturg's Note:
This production brings up a lot of stereotypes of marginalized groups, so we decided for this show to break down those stereotypes and where they come from as well as explore their negative consequences. Increasing awareness about the negative impacts of stereotypes is an essential first step to increasing social equity, and we hope this show not only brings awareness to these issues but also encourages people to question their own biases they may hold.
