This true story deals with heavy emotional subject matter and includes conversations on life, love, illness, and death - content which may be triggering to some patrons.
About the Show
Tuesdays with Morrie tells the autobiographical story of Mitch Albom, a successful journalist consumed by his career, and his former college professor, Morrie Schwartz. Sixteen years after graduation, Mitch sees Morrie featured on a television news program and discovers that his beloved mentor is battling Lou Gehrig's disease (ALS). Reunited after years apart, Mitch begins what he expects to be a brief visit. Instead, it becomes a weekly ritual - an intimate series of conversations that evolve into Morrie's final, most profound class: a lesson in what it truly means to live.

A Note from the Theatre Manager
On behalf of everyone at the Orillia Opera House, welcome — and thank you for joining us this season.
Tuesdays with Morrie is one of those rare stories that reminds us why we come to the theatre in the first place: not just to be entertained, but to be moved, challenged, and changed. Mitch Albom's true story of reconnecting with his beloved professor, Morrie Schwartz, in the final months of Morrie's life asks us to slow down and consider what really matters — connection, gratitude, and the courage to live fully, even in the face of loss.
It's a privilege to bring this production to our stage. I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to our talented cast and crew, whose dedication and artistry make shows like this possible, and to you, our audience, for continuing to support live theatre in our community. Your presence here — season after season, production after production — is what keeps the lights on and the stories coming.
Whether this is your first visit to the Orillia Opera House or your hundredth, I hope today's performance stays with you long after you leave your seat.
Enjoy the show.
Warmly,
